Ecodiesel Truck Owners MUST WATCH if you own a 3.0L Turbo Diesel in a RAM or Jeep you need to watch this video to make sure you are maintaining your engine properly before having a catastrophic failure as many of these eco Diesel engines are failing due to some sort of lubrication issue

I haven't had any trouble out of my 2015 Outdoorsman 4x4 crewcab ecodiesel other than a water pump. I bought it new and have 143000 miles on it. I only use Mopar filters and change the oil at the 10,000 interval. It does have a stage 1 tune and the oil looks good through oil changes. I know others have had issues but I absolutely love my ecodiesel

I bought my '16 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel brand new. Hot Shos Secret goes in the fuel tank every fill up. I drive 98% highway miles, and my oil always gets dar, but never gritty. The truck has 177k miles, but hasn't been driven much since I bought my '20 Durango. The Durango fits in more parking spaces and multilevel garages. We also have an '18 Ram 2500 6.7L, which is a beast. It carries a camper and tows Jeep Wrangler rather nicely. But the Ecodiesel is way more civilized on snowy or icy roads. I tried several oils, but currently use the 5w40 T6 Rotella in the Ecodiesel and the Cummins. I did get the Bank's silencer delete, and installed a Flowmaster 50 series HD Big Block muffler. I use Tow/Haul mode when the engine is cold, but plan to try a Bank's Pedal Monster soon. The 3.92 ratio differential works really well with ZF 8-speed. I hope Ram puts the ZF transmission with the Cummins engine. Then the Ram 2500 will drive as nice as my Ram 1500, Dodge Durango, and Jeep Wrangler.

Wow, that is unbelievable! Mine has 82000 miles, 2018 and I run Amsoil with Wix oil filter and fuel filter. The Wix fuel filter is finally made with the same reinforcement like the Mopar ones. My oil is dirty (black) in less than 1000 miles, almost immediately! I do have the Banks Derringer inline tuner but haven't used it in 6 months. I've been having fuel rail pressure issues and think the high pressure pump may be going out! Also, I've towed a fifth wheel several times this summer and I fight the oil temperature going too high, like 250 degrees F. I back off the throttle when the oil temp climbs as it will cause the coolant to climb as well. I wish they would do an air cooler for the oil instead of using the coolant. Also, my EGR is always sooted really bad and I clean it every 20,000 miles or so but the inside of the intake manifold looks like a coal fired locomotive!

The oil condition on ecodiesels at 10k miles is excellent. I had Blackstone test mine at 100k and the report said that overall condition was very good. I also use Shell Rotella 6 15w40. Currently 112k miles and runs great--tuned at 750 miles which made a night and day difference in throttle response, power increase, mileage increase--GDE (Green Diesel Engineering) tune which bypasses the EGR. Running your finger inside the tailpipe won't leave an iota of soot on your finger! Amazingly clean engine.

I had a VW 2L Amarok (dual-cab ute) here in Australia. Blew 3of the injectors out at 110k km. Got a replacement engine (rear end of vehicle got smashed after idiot pulled out in front of a B-double truck). After some teething issues (originally tried to use the original ECU, which turned out wasn’t entirely compatible with the newer engine) I was having issues with the DPF getting fault codes. Ended up doing a DPF/EGR delete. The engine ran sooo much quieter, with more torque, better fuel economy, and the oil looked like new at each change. I was towing a tipper trailer (1.1t) and a 2 ton excavator regularly, and it was soo much better (where I live we have quite steep and high mountains that I cross between my two farms) Ended up buying a Mitsubishi Fuso Canter 6.5t 4x4 tipper truck with a 3.9l turbo diesel. It isn’t as comfortable a daily driver, but I now have a car for that.

I have a 2014 ecodiesel - 150k miles, change the oil every 10k, the only real issue i had with it, burned out fuel pump - now they have a recall on it, and the water coolant valve broke and leaked coolant on my abs system taking it out (this was at year 9 so just about when rubber parts start to fail) - no engine tune. It has a been a dependable truck for me.

Very much appreciate your content on the EcoDiesel. I purchased a 2016 in August of last year based alot on your experience. It had a dealer installed engine (5158048AH) at 152000 miles. The previous owner had it deleted but pretty much after the damage had been done on the old engine. When the dealer installed the new engine they commented, "Replaced Engine Assembly and Removed EGR System from New Motor due to Customer having Aftermarket tuner and Deleted Truck." The high pressure pump recall was noted but not done because of parts. I just received a notice that new pumps are now available. Any thoughts about potential issues getting the pump recall accomplished because of being a Deleted Truck? I would be going to a different dealer from the one who installed the new motor. I also have a recall for the PCM reprogramming due the crank position sensor issue.(FCA Recall # 66A) I am guessing that PCM programming should not be done due to the Aftermarket tuner. Continue to keep us informer on your experiences!!

Dealers won't touch a deleted truck, you will either have to put all the equipment back on it to have the new pump installed under warranty, otherwise find a new pump (good luck) and put it on yourself or find a independent diesel tech to do it out of pocket.

No EGR running eh? If EGR were running, oil would be soughted up. The Rotella is amazing in being able to hold so much, but 10K won’t happen on a stock RAM tune.

My 2018 Ram Outdoorsman lasted 108 000 km before the engine was pooched and replaced. My maintenance was impeccable. The mechanic that dropped the new engine in said " dump this truck before the warranty expires on this engine" ( 3 years/160 000 km) because they are terrible engines and he's replaced a ton of them. Mix in 3 recalls and a delaminated media screen that was $1300 to replace and this is by far the worst vehicle I have ever owned.
