    Dreamworks' bad movies have 2 categories: -So bad no one likes to talk about them -So bad they are loved

    That’s where Dreamworks has a leg up on Disney, when Disney makes a bad movie it sticks and everyone hates it. But when Dreamworks makes a bad movie, we either forget about or we love it. The point is bad Dreamworks movies are better than bad Disney movies.

    When I rewatch The Prince of Egypt, I often have to skip the beginning part because the opening scene with the Egyptians commiting genocide against the Hebrews is too much for me, and even makes me cry. It’s just so well done and strong that I can’t even sit through it. Also, it was a pretty bold move for Dreamworks to put a scene of literal genocide into an animated movie. I bet everyone in the theatre in 1998 was shocked beyond belief.

    I absolutely adore the HTTYD movies. But the 3rd one rubbed me the wrong way for the same reason Ralph Breaks the Internet did- they took a pair of characters with a strong bond, basically found family, who had a happy ending, and split them up because sequel. Granted, it was executed well, it was a good, emotional movie. But the first two were all about fighting for unity between humans and dragons, it felt like they just gave up on their cause.

    The acting is always so bad! Or it looks like it was filmed on someone's phone. Or the plot isn't super great. The best Christian movies are the ones that are "okay." I'd personally watch more Christian or even religious movies more if it looked like they put more effort in it than have what seems like a high schooler write a script and then film the movie on their phone and cast their friends, who are probably in at least intro to theater.

    The songs in Spirit Stallion in the Cimarron were incredible. Bryan Adams kills it in the soundtrack. I would honestly say it has the best soundtrack of all of the Tarzan-style musicals. Everything about the rest of the movie is also incredible. It is a masterpiece and certainly one of the best Dreamworks movies.

    Totally agree. My husband and I both have huge nostalgia and love for Spirit and its soundtrack. I will say, though, this last 4th of July, we didn't do fireworks or a BBQ party or anything, we just danced around to and cornily sang the Spirit soundtrack for 15 minutes because so many of the songs are about freedom, lol. Highly recommend!

    Kung Fu Panda 3 is the best in the franchise. In Kung Fu Panda 2 (the favorite of most people), Lord Shen attacked the panda village, but there was nobody to save them. In Kung Fu Panda 3, Kai attacks the village and Po has to save them. You cannot say that's not the most genius idea for a third installment of this franchise. One thing that people hate about this movie was the “disappointing” villain defeat. But I don’t think people exactly understand it. Po had the chi of all the pandas and his own chi. Kai usually takes the masters’ bodies along with the chi, but he didn’t when Po gave his chi to Kai. That’s why it was too much. He took the chi of a whole village pandas and a “Kung Fu Panda” at a time without their physical forms. It makes sense, people overthink it. Also, at the beginning, Oogway told Kai "The more you take, the less you have." Then what happens? Kai dies from taking too much. Also, Po was taught kung fu with food. Then he taught the village of pandas with their talents. The whole "turn you into you" thing wasn't a callback to the beginning of the movie, it was a callback to the beginning of the franchise. The first Kung Fu Panda. Most people like Shen the most, but General Kai is the best villain in my opinion. He may not have been intimidating, but he had really great villain lines. When Shifu said "Oogway, forgive me." Kai held up the chi of Oogway and said "What do you say, Oogway? Do you forgive him?" Also, his music was obviously the best villain music in existence. Not to mention his weapon, fight style, or entrances. Also, the first two villains were chased by Po and the Furious Five. But Kai would find Po no matter where he went. Po even said “There’s nowhere to run.” Kai felt very unstoppable, which was kind of intimidating. Another thing I like about Kai is that he was the only villain that never underestimated Po. When Tai Lung met Po and found out he’s the Dragon Warrior, he said “You? Him? He’s a panda. You’re a panda. What are you going to do, big guy? Sit on me?” When Lord Shen met Po, he asked Soothsayer “Do you actually believe this is the warrior destined to defeat me?” But when General Kai met Po, he said “You must be the Dragon Warrior.” I don't even need to talk about comedy, action, or animation in this movie. Everyone already agrees that comedy, action, and animation in Kung Fu Panda 3 is better than in first two movies. A lot of people complain that the Furious Five didn't do much but I think I need to remind people that this movie is in the Kung Fu Panda franchise. Not "The Adventures of the Furious Five" franchise. I was happy seeing the Furious Five get a lot of spotlight it Kung Fu Panda 2, the movie wouldn’t be half as great without that. But I am extremely happy that they didn’t do the same thing for Kung Fu Panda 3. But I don't get how people think this is the worst or second best in the franchise. I think it's better than Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2 combined.

    @@KFP_Fanboy its great but it feels like it's talking down to its audience. Kai feels like a joke villain. The lines were pretty generic tbh. Also the argument that this is po's story is pretty lame. Its just it feels like the furious five were shifted to minor characters. It does not mean we want the movie to be full of them, it's just they were treated as jokesters here. Plus KFP 2 was extremely emotional. KFP 3 was great but it just feels like the lessons were for kids or 12 year old tweens.

    @ballistic2247

    @@KFP_Fanboy That's a respectable opinion and you make several good points but I still think Po's dad is a weak character, Kai is a lot less intimidating even if he does have good lines, but the previous movies' villains spoke by action. They told less, and showed more how monstrous they are, and their backstories are very cleverly told through flashbacks. Kung Fu Panda 3 spends a lot of time messing around with the cute and cuddly pandas which does develop the area and atmosphere, but it does come off as filler sometimes. The action and morals are still excellent, but the inner focus scene in the second and Po's first look at the inside of the scroll are even more memorable and profound in my personal opinion. Po coming to terms with who he is, the scars of his past and the duty destiny has for him is moving and breathtaking. All 3 had to do was introduce him to his long lost kind and have him defend them and be there for his biological dad. It does that and much more but in my mind the first two are still better.

    Yes. And I'm totally insulted that Madagascar 3 got a better rating than the Croods. It's understandable, but I despised Madagascar even as a kid. So it's shocking #2) 37:20 I like that the Bee movie includes consequences for the main character's course of action, (based on personal bias, ignorance, and impulse). And it has a little subplot about the importance of community. It's underrated. #3) The themes in Train Your Dragon 2 are what turn me off/on. It had an excellent theme about embracing responsibility, but it took multiple watches to catch it, and the way Valka just abandons her family not giving a damn what happens b'coz she was to lazy to, idk, adapt her argument create peace a lot earlier. I swear half of it was her not wanting to embrace her duty, which is why I stand on the fact that she should've been a villain or someone trying to make Hiccup fall from grace. #4) *RISE/GUARDIANS IS UNDERRATED!!* I get that the villains motives are weak, but everything else is something special. I wanna go to the directors of stuff like Rise/Guardians and Megamind and say, "I take back my criticism. I like your unpopular but awesome stuff."

    Kung Fu Panda 3 is the best in the franchise. In Kung Fu Panda 2 (the favorite of most people), Lord Shen attacked the panda village, but there was nobody to save them. In Kung Fu Panda 3, Kai attacks the village and Po has to save them. You cannot say that's not the most beautiful thing. It's genius. I really thought the action and comedy was the best in this movie too. When Po gave Kai the chi, he didn't exactly give it to Kai. He gave it to the masters that he took the chi from. That's why he yelled "Wait, that's too much!" Also, at the beginning, Oogway told Kai "The more you take, the less you have." Then what happens? Kai dies from taking too much. Also, Po was taught Kung Fu with food. Then he taught the village of pandas with their talents. The whole "turn you into you" thing wasn't a callback to the beginning of the movie, it was a callback to Kung Fu Panda 1. Most people like Shen the most, but Kai is actually the best villain. He may not have been intimidating, but he had really great villain lines. When Shifu said "Oogway, forgive me." Kai held up the chi of Oogway and said "What do you say, Oogway? Do you forgive him?" Also, his music was obviously the best villain music in existence. I don't need to talk about comedy, action, or animation. Everyone already agrees that comedy, action, and animation in Kung Fu Panda 3 is better than the first two movies. A lot of people complain that the Furious Five didn't do much but I think I need to remind people that this movie is in the Kung Fu Panda franchise. Not "The Adventures of the Furious Five", because Po is one of the most entertaining main characters from any movies. I don't get how people think this is the worst or second best in the franchise. I think it's better than Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2 combined.

    Honestly I have a huge nostalgic soft spot for Madagascar 3, namely because of a video game that was super integral to my childhood. It got shut down earlier this year but there was this little known game called world of jumpstart that was in the same vein as club penguin or wizard 101. When how to train your dragon made it big, jumpstart acquired the license to make their own MMO game about it, and also decided to have this big Madagascar event in world of jumpstart and added a whole truckload of new areas that stayed in the game for a good few years.

    Here's a funny story about Turbo: I went to see this movie in theatres when it first came out. There's a part of the movie where a bunch of people in a crowd start chanting "LET HIM RACE!" over and over again. Now, as you know, when movies play in theatres, it's pretty loud. It's almost impossible to hear anything other than the movie itself. As soon as one of the characters, I think the "villain", started talking and interrupted them, they all immediately stopped chanting. Then, there was just a very quiet "let him race!" from a really young child in the audience after the characters had already stopped. Presumably, they had been chanting along with the movie and didn't realise the chanting was over. But, the fact that you genuinely couldn't hear the child until after the characters in the movie had stopped made it so funny that most of the audience burst out laughing. I swear, that moment was the only time during the entire movie that anyone in the audience laughed and it wasn't even at the movie. It was at the accidentally brilliant comedic timing of a child in the audience. And that is literally the only thing I remember from that viewing experience. I guarantee, if that didn't happen, I would've forgotten Turbo even existed, let alone that I'd actually seen it.

    I think seeing your section on Kung Fu Panda 2 is what finally pushed me to search everywhere I could to find it. I couldn't find it on any country's Netflix even with a VPN, so I decided to straight buy it on KZread and I don't regret anything. I know you prefer the first as well as multiple other Dreamworks movies, but the more I watch it, the better it gets, and I'd have to say that it's easily my favorite Dreamworks movie. I like it more than Shrek 2, How to Train Your Dragon 3, Puss in Boots 2, and even Prince of Egypt. Of course, this is just my own opinion and I respect yours. Even if the ranking never changes for you, it's always a nice time and you start to realize more every single time. One of the biggest strengths of the movie imo has to be the way that the animators use not only background, but also general color, to truly sell the atmosphere and emotion throughout the scene. The terror in Shen's lair and at the end when the Furious 5 get caught and tied up, the glaring red selling the fury of Shen and the ominous lighting over the buildings giving the truly hopeless and haunting emotion and ramping it up so much. Or the deep blue when Po finally stops running from his emptions, his mind calms down, and he finally comes to terms with his trauma and finds inner peace. Or at the end where Po is getting the cannon balls launched at him, a mix of the darker lighting from earlier that gives the feeling of hopelessness meshes with the deep blue that personifies Po's acceptance of his past. If there's one thing I'd suggest more than anything else to keep an eye out for, it's the coloring and background

    I really love How To Train Your Dragon. Not only because isolated from any personal experience it's already an incredible movie, but I also resonate with the themes of the movie on a deep, personal level. I was always put to some standard of who I was going to be and what I was going to do growing up, but always feeling kind of distant from others and more focused on machinery and creation. I was thrust into situations I didn't like as a kid, and in turn I took the little resources I had to make inventions of my own, much to the dismay of my family. Then, when my ideas finally suceeded, it was recognized and my family fortunately saw my true talents and passions and accomodated accordingly. Im sure you can see how the entire idea of Hiccup and the movie centered around him can really hit home for me. Not only due to personal reasons, but also a chance experience alongside it too makes this movie even better for me. My band teacher in high school had my class play the first 5 minutes of the intro music for How To Train Your Dragon for a concert one year, also due to absolutely adoring the movie as a whole. And as such, every time I rewatch How To Train Your Dragon, I now not only have a personal connection, but an artistical one too. Its one thing to hear a piece of music and go "man, that sounds pretty nice," and an entirely different thing to go "man, this music is pretty nice and HOLY SHIT IVE PLAYED THIS BEFORE THATS SO COOL!" While Dreamworks may have its low points, I am so so joyful I was born in this era to experience How To Train Your Dragon on a Compostional, Emotional, Artistical, and Personal level. The depth of every single part of it is astonishing, and it truly holds up as a timeless masterpiece.

It's plot is too ridiculous to beat up the amazing misadventures of Tool-io and Miguel from Coco. The Bee Movie of course, wins anyway, beacuse Schaff don't care what other people think is better.

    I think that they also take place in the same universe, because prince of Egypt is based on a book called “the Bible” and in boss baby there’s a scene where boss baby mentions he is “baby Jesus”. Jesus is from the same book as prince of Egypt. This leads me to believe that boss baby is either in the same universe as prince of Egypt, or that the Bible exists as a book in the boss baby universe. Maybe in the next movie they will have a crossover.

    the HTTYD and kung fu panda trilogy will always hold a special place in my heart. growing up with parents who graduated form UCI and ASU, i put a mental pressure on myself to be good academically as them, and to follow in their footsteps in working in education or engineering. but i wasn’t as intelligent as they were. i didn’t have a high IQ, and failed in a lot of subjects (the only two excelling in being english and some parts of history). i related to hiccup’s feeling of wanting to follow in his father’s footsteps but wanting to chase a different style, and with po feeling like an outcast in a subject where everyone excelled and you needed extra help. the two movies in the franchises hit the most for me, especially with the parental issues. my father was absent most of my life, and learning why and how has hurt me in so many ways that i’m still struggling to find inner peace. but whenever i feel down like them, i always circle back to those movies that helped (and still) me get through it and stay strong-so i applauded dreamworks for making movie’s so impactful that it sticks with lots, including myself, well beyond childhood
