I was just a little kid riding my bike down the sidewalk when someone, front door open, was playing the record "All I have to do is Dream." It stopped me in my tracks. I stood there listening, it felt somehow magical/hypnotic and I had no idea why. I still remember that moment as though it happened yesterday...but I still don't know why it was so impactful.

I also wanted my 7 year old Granddaughter to be aware of their music and she loves their music, Bird Dog and Wake up Little Susie are her favorite. So I'm where you were, I've grown a big appreciation for their music and decided to collect the music material albums too. Wish me luck on Ebay finding the early albums. Their music is phenomenal even their music in the mid 80's fantastic. Enjoyed your comment. Stay safe, healthy and happy, God bless

Wake up little Susie was used to unmercifully tease my sister Susie. Bird Dog was flat out fun. Let it be Me, hauntingly beautiful. Send a Message to Mary and Ebony Eyes brought us to tears. Cathy's Clown brought the house down. Bye Bye Love goes without saying. These guys earned every award and their place in rock and roll history.

I laughed out loud when the the Everlys said, "We just got sick each other." Familiarity breeds contempt. But how they got back together at the end brought me, and the whole world, tremendous happiness. Without the lasting contribution of the Everly Brothers, modern pop music would simply not exist the way it does today. That's a legacy to be proud of. My favorite song? "All I Have To Do Is Dream." One of the most beautiful love songs of all time.

When their Platoon got to Testing and Evaluation where I was assigned, I secretly had them privately play my guitar in my office. Yes, I was a Marine LCpl. For so many of these talents, they are lucky if they have 1/2 dozen songs in the top ten. And inevitably there is a leveling off. I sometimes think even Elvis Presley had realized he had become a satire of his own existence. Johnny & June Carter Cash playing to near empty venues in Branson, Missouri . The audience is blessed with the memory of those few golden hits they had. The artists, have to make the best of it as they can, and sometimes it is a bitter fruit for them.

Audiences are fickle oft times, and music business managers, recording labels, media….. care less about artists, more about their own financial gain and constantly seek the “ new best thing”. It’s very difficult to maintain a profile & earn a decent living decade after decade as a frontline performer.

The tightest and most influential duo in rock and roll. Brothers' voices blend so well but both were really good solo singers. Maybe they could have tried making albums of a mixture of solo and duo performances of each thus keeping everybody's ego intact and simultaneously letting the public realize and maybe accepting this facet. As for the aspect of who sings lead - personally and technically I consider the harmony parts the most difficult and satisfying as my own built in prejudice is everybody can sing lead. :)

I remember parking cars at a famous restaurant in Hollywood Ca called the Villa Capri, Sinatra had some interest in it but the official owner was Patsy DiAmore. I was sitting outside in my chair with my drum practice pad and Phil pulled in and saw the pad as I put it away so I could park his car, he said “keep practicing young fellow.” I was around many musicians because of my father who was a legendary jazz drummer so I knew if some was putting me on, Phil was not, as nice and as sincere as one could be.
