    BTW From learning on a simple machine, going to the Everlast 255 EXT was actually the best decision I could make. This machine took my welding from "hey, I joined metal together" to "hey, you reckon you could build me an intake for ***". Yes it's a Chinese machine, yes it is great, yes I have used it actively for around 3 years. No, it's not a Fronius, but it's taught me more in 3 years than the previous Jasic did in 7 years. FYI I really only use the water cooled torch for everything, so the machine is loud but hey, so are my neighbours! Thanks again!

    hey if you find the time you should try doing an open root weld on a 2'' pipe in the 6G position. that's one of the requalification tests we do in Alberta to take a job tig welding pipe. Awesome channel, lots to learn. 6" pipe in the 5G position is the initial B pressure test, its an easier test.

    Dusty, I own the 325 EXT water-cooled and absolutely love it. I need to revisit the torches that came with the unit as I followed all the here-say and jumped to a CK torch. I totally agree that the folks at Everlast are absolutely great. I encountered a minor issue with my water cooler, they called me right back and we resolved it over the phone in minutes. I love watching what you do, and look forward to your future videos on setup with the Everlast! I am in no way, shape, or form as accomplished as you are, so watching what you do has been a huge help for me getting started in TIG. Thank you!

    I bought the same one and had shipping damage, not Everlast fault. My gas line would leak due to a defect in the connector when I would turn off the gas you could watch the regulator PSI gauge drop instantly. Just went to my local welding shop and got a replacement. Other than that it has been grate. Enjoy all your lessons and have learned a lot thanks, I have a lot of acts of kindness to do. Keep up the great work.

    My only bitch about the 255 water cooled setup is the fan stays on 100% of the time. And I wish the machine went above 250hz. Everlast does have 400hz welders but I wasn't going to give up the highly sought after triangle wave to have the higher HZ in the other machine.

    Excellent content! Thank you for your videos! The water cooled setup does seem like a very nice addition for those day-long marathon welds! I’m currently on a cheap-o stock torch that came with my machine, it’s a 26 with a huge handle thing on it which is not removable and has the thumb switch and it’s all really awkward to hold, but I’m just starting out and learning right now. Looking forward to upgrading for sure, but I’ve set myself a goal to get the basics down before I go upgrading. With a slightly masochistic approach I’m also forbidding myself the use of gas lenses, because they can hide some mistakes which would be more obvious with a plain cup. Thank you again for the great content and the inspirational videos! Best of luck to you and yours! Cheers from (not yet) frozen wasteland of Moscow suburbs!

    I've had my PowerTIG 255EXT for 6 years now and have no complaints. I did upgrade the provided torches to a C-K Worldwide FlexLoc water-cooled torch with superflex hoses and I've never regretted it. FYI, you can change between the 2-series (#9, #20) and 3-series (#17, #18) torch heads on the same water-cooled FlexLoc handle in less than a minute. I use the smaller 2-series head most often but the big one comes in handy for those rare 250A jobs. I built my own torch cooler with a Procon carbonator pump and put an Arduino microcontroller on it so it shuts off the pump when I'm not welding and verifies cooling flow when I am. I also put a gas pressure interlock on the pedal's welding command to make sure I have argon. (Just don't ask why.) I wish the fans on the welder would shut off when not needed like my old Lincoln Wirematic 255. My only other gripe is the direction of cooling air flow. The exhaust blows out the front so I have to divert it with a towel or otherwise keep it away from my work area to prevent disturbing my shielding gas. Not so bad as gripes go, but I hope it never breaks. I suspect repairs are not easy or cheap. Weld mean, weld green...

    Blowing the hot air to the front sounds like a dumb design idea. Maybe they were afraid that people will put the machine tight against the back wall.

  • @ralphwaters8905

    @ralphwaters8905

    @@danl.4743 - I like the way you give them credit for more forethought. On my 255EXT, the gas inlet is right in the center of the back, so I had to buy a special 90-deg fitting to keep it from hitting the Argon cylinder! Lots of people complained about this, but I don't know if they ever fixed it. I know that blowing air over heat sinks (instead of sucking) allows you to reduce internal ducting, but the front exhaust is still a pain to ME!

    I purchased an Everlast 350 EXT and water cooler almost 2 years ago now! I'm trying to (teach myself) T.I.G. !! I'm 30+ years stick certified welder in a steel mill.. I don't really understand all the functions.. I end up using this EXT 350 for stick welding after I get frustrated trying to tig with a lot of problems!! Haha I sure wish I could get you to my shop for a day showing me how to understand all these settings! But I definitely appreciate your videos! This one was great! And loved your helpers unboxing! PS I had the same issue with the clear Argon line, I lost a lot of Argon when I first started playing with it.. I thought I heard leaking.. but didn't realize the factory hose clamp slipped off!!! I ended up sticking regular hose clamps..

    For the price you can't complain. HTP have the same older style water cooler in red (check This Old Tony video) Which would have matched my welder, but I bought the same as this one, low profile EVERLAST water cooler to keep my welding cart final height low. This week I modified it, removing the fan and replacing it with an Orion fan 180x180x90mm 240V from Digikey. Half the noise and only runs on demand with a thermal switch. Opening the water cooler allowed me to also fix the flow alarm issue when using a 25' whip. Just need to pinch the small bypass hose with a tie-rap. Found a loose hose on the radiator... The hose wasn't pushed far enough over the copper tube. The clamp was crimped too far away. Glad I caught it, easy fix. And the screw holding the fan on the shaft could use a bit of Loctite if you us it as is.

    as a 210EXT owner I really appreciate this video as I was considering upgrading at one point. instead i bought the water cooler. i stand by the decision as I'm a noob and sometimes i float ... hot hot hot. i may still upgrade at some point but the 210EXT 2021 model has the newer features... regulator. etc. i also got the nova kit with the flex heads. only complaint on the pedal is it slides on a garage floor. the action and feel are great though. i just wish it had a rubber feet option. Everlast is great and if I do upgrade I'll def use the link. i wouldn't be where i am on aluminum without "fill and chill". seriously. thank you again!

    I bought my 255-EXT in 2014. Initially they sent me a refurbished unit and I only found that out by talking to tech support. It cost me $70 to return the welder and they gave me the current year model. This thing welds like a dream. There's not much that it can't do. But the lifting feature on my unit does not work. Neither did it work on the previous unit. But who gives a damn about lifting when you have features like advanced pulse. That feature will weld aluminum with this deep and penetration as a 400 amp welder. All in all, I can't say enough good things about my machine. But the foot pedal that came with sucked and it peed it out after about a year. I had to upgrade to that Nova TIG pedal and there is no other pedal like that on the market. Nova TIG is the most responsive pedal out there and you damn well know it as soon as you put your foot on it.

Which is a much more affordable price range than my HTP or Miller(over $5000 machines) but I got the Dynasty for under $3000 so, no regrets. I should pretty much be good for LIFE. At the end of the day, it becomes more about YOUR capabilities than the machine's. And the work that actually will come your way, not the work you HOPE will come your way. That's a big one. There should be a machine that allows for high frequency start on stick welding so that the arc is initiated before the stick electrode touches the workpiece. I built circuitry for my cheap IGBT machine that does this. Let me tell you; it is soooo impressive to "strike" a perfect arc each time, and never sticking the electrode.

    You know if you guys want a super duper unbelievable chiller to cool your torches look in the biotech listings of eBay. I come from that sector the robotics industry we used Grant chillers they cost thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars but you can get them used on eBay sometimes or some other second hand places on the internet that I can't remember off the top of my head now for dirt cheap. I got a brand new one simply because nobody claimed it it was sitting on our dock for like a month and nobody knew where it went so the production boss said if someone doesn't get this out of here I'm throwing it out so I threw in the back of my truck LOL now I'm a organic chemist so I use it for chemistry but if I ever get a TIG set up that requires cooling it is unlimited to how cool you can bring those torches down. You have to put propylene glycol in the system so it doesn't freeze let's put it that way

    Buyer beware... I am a life time welder... recently bought an Everlast TIG welder for the home hobby shop and while the welder may be good (remains to be seen) the accessories are not. In short order the Argon hose blew out and the regulator leaks at the gage fitting. Basic China quality.

    did you buy this or was it gifted ,,, you sort of dont actually say at the start , just hint at its gifted. nothing wrong with that , but just say so in the open right from the start.
