It’s funny to me that I grew up in Los Angeles and now live in the pacific northwest. I love this band. I can relate to their songs because my childhood was horrible, too. It wasn’t my dad that left. It was my mom. My brother and I went to Raging Waters and came home to a different house and my mom was nowhere to be found
Despite all of Arts personal problems Everclear has some of my favorite songs ever made.

My fav band❤ Their music saved my life as a teen.
I have known Art since 1988 when he was in The Easy Hoes as just a guitarist . He wasn't the leader or the frontman of this band . Now lets talk Colorfinger , I was the drummer for Colorfinger and that band was Art's first band that he was in total control . We played Heart Spark Dollar Sign and Twistinside and lots of other "Everclear" songs but we were not a grunge band , we were a cowpunk band . We toured with Dash Rip Rock another cowpunk band . We also did some covers of country songs . We were a lot different then Everclear , Art sang with a twang in his voice more in those days . Look through KZread for Colorfinger videos , you'll see what I mean .
Before I knew Art from Everclear, I knew him as Ned's music teacher from Ned's Declassified. They even reference Everclear in that episode he cameo'd in, but as a little kid I never picked up on it. 10+ years later though I found Everclear and enjoy their stuff.
Saw them at Summerland 2014 with Soul Asylum, Space Hog and Eve 6. They were awesome then and are still going strong today!
Santa Monica is first song I learned on guitar when I was a kid. Till this day, it’s the first song I play when I pick it up to tune my guitar.

Thanks so much for focusing on these bands. I consider this period the golden era of music in my life.
The first time I picked up a guitar I sucked as one does. It was so discouraging I didn't pick it up for a while after that. Later on I bought the guitar tab book for So Much for the Afterglow from a record store. The first song I ever learned to play on guitar was White Men in Black Suits. It gave me this feeling like- OK. I can do this! and gave me the confidence to keep playing. My love for playing and writing never left. So very grateful for Everclear. 🙏🏼💙

One of my favorite songs of all-time is still “Wonderful”. It always makes me tear up and I think it’s truly brilliant song. It’s set up like an upbeat song from a kid’s perspective and vernacular, but it’s so sad and heartbreaking and real. I grew up with my parents just not being great for or to each other and I denied the bigger reasons why I might have loved the song as much as I did/do.
Man I used to not get this band it was never my cup o tea but one day I was listening to one of their songs and it just hit me so hard that guy is a amazing artist

That's a great redemption for those comp cd's from the 90's. They seem corny now, but probably got a lot of us into unexpected artists. For me I had a double CD called "Amplified" with a big stack amp on the cover. It got me into a ton of classic rock acts like Thin Lizzy.

My favorite album of theirs
I have been a HUGE fan since the early/mid 90's. Loved every album and some of my favorite songs are off the last 3. Sadly, never got to see them in their hayday, but FINALLY got to a show in Denver a month ago. They put on a great show. It was a bit wild when I realized half the people there weren't even alive in the 90's, but I thought that was great.
“Electra Made Me Blind” is my favorite Everclear track.
I met Art outside the tattoo shop where I had a lot of my work done in Minneapolis. He liked my Greyhounds, as he's also an adopter. Surprised my boy took to him, as Niles didn't usually take to males. My little girl loved everyone and was very outgoing. He liked my hound tats, many of which were done by Nik at Uptown Tattoo. If my dogs liked people, I usually did. Dogs are rarely poor judges of character.😊
My father gave me a name. Thinking back it is a powerful song. Thanks for making this video

Of course sparkle and fade is already known a great album but their first full length World of Noise was great too. Yet another great band I found bc of 120 minutes
I was stationed in gtmo, cuba from 2007-2008- it makes sense why Everclear would consider playing there for us being he was in debt. It allowed me to chat with Art prior to band playing.

This aint even my kind of music really, but I had a friend back in the 90s that was big into Everclear, so I learned to love the songs, and now it's nostalgic for me to hear them.
They have been putting together some great tours the last few years , I went to high school with the current guitar player Davey French, he's been with them for years now.
My favourite band for a stretch in my youth. Loved Art’s lyrics and melodies.
I saw both Everclear and Sponge at the same tiny bar here in Victoria in the mid 90s. Sponge left me with ringing ears for days!😆
I loved Everclear then and I love them now. I’ve seen them a few times in various incarnations and I have never been disappointed. Art’s lyrics speak to me in a way few musicians have - probably because I had a great father. (Sarcasm) Thanks for covering them.

I was and always be a fan of Everclear. As a child of the 80s and 90s I grew up listening to their songs. I saw Alex like 8 years ago in Pasadena he played for a school fundraiser I believed his kid went to that school or he lives in Pasadena my friend asked me to do security for the event I had a great view of the band and sang along to the songs as I protected the guest. It was a nice event for the children. Thank you Alex for the great songs. As a new father myself to a baby boy I can relate to father of mine which was always a favorite because I'm real dad abandoned Us when I was 1 years old. I sing it to my son now along with other greats.
"Don't fall down now, you will never get up..." Say what you will about Art's personal life, but the guy's an amazing songwriter. He knows how to tell stories about real shit. Sparkle & Fade is one of the best albums of the 90's.

Love Everclear! So Much For The Afterglow is a perfect album. I think of it as a 90s Cheap Trick, it's poppy but it's dark. They have been my favorite band my entire life. I started listening when I was 6 in 1996. Ive seen them once, but they didnt play Misery Whip or Heroin Girl, or my favorite song, White Men in Black Suits, when I saw them. They play two of those in the new Whiskey A-Go-Go video they uploaded. I will treasure that video forever. FOR. EVER.
Never forget being an 11 year old hearing Santa Monica on MTV. I liked the song, ended up buying their next album. It wasn't exactly my type of music but those songs definitely bring me back to that time.
I think Art was miserable because Sean pen was his classmate and not the parental abuse
Like nirvana? Kurt wrote in pure poetry. Of you didn't know somehow what the song was about ...you would have no idea. Everclear is a good story song written band.
They played a full local show at Seaworld Orlando last year. They sounded great and had some good stories and comments between songs. We really enjoyed the show!

I've said it once, and I'll say it again, I am from Portland and have met Art twice. He was nothing but nice to me.
I'm a huge fan of Everclear's first two albums, World of Noise (pure raw unadulteraded garage alternative Rock) and Sparkle and Fade (basically World of Noise with a more polished sound and better production values). So Much for the Afterglow marked the beginning of their radio friendly era, and while I liked the album I haven't kept up with their music ever since.

Sparkle and fade is an amazing album
Could be right, could be wrong (I’m often wrong lol) everclear is one of the more underrated brands. Lyrically Art is one of the best.
I remember working at a coffee packing warehouse in the early 2000s and we could play whatever cds we wanted while we were working and one day a guy tried playing Everclear. We teased him about it all summer 😂
Saw Art in May of this year playing an acoustic set for my friends MS Sucks show here in Chicago.
I had a dvd copy of the movie Basketball Diaries back in the day. There was a special features interview with Art where he talked about his experiences with drugs, pretty depressing stuff
That Sparkle record was PERFECT! I was 23 & living the 90’s (working at a CD store & playing in a local band with my first apartment) with sooooo much new awesome music. They lost me after that record, like the REO Speedwagon of alternative music lol. Early REO was fantastic, then they turned too ballad-ish? Even the early ballads were different in some way that I have trouble explaining. Same with Everclear…..too repetitive as far as the song structure/composition & the lyrics/subject just felt soft in place of biographical, even if they were personal, something felt too radio pandering.
Every time I see art, the more I see alternative rock Dr. Drew
I saw and met the current iteration of Everclear a little over a month ago. Super cool guys
I just saw them in concert end of September 2023, it was a great show.
I saw them at the wildflower festival in Dallas several years ago and Art came out hammered drunk. Effed up the first song then started over. Then later asked if there were any college students in the crowd. As they raised their hands he said “you guys think you’re better than me??” It was funny at the moment, but looking back he was in a bad way. I hope he’s found peace.
I’m from Portland Oregon and I love Everclear 💜🤗💯
Had to do a double take. I thought that was Norman Lear on the thumbnail.😂😂😂
They literate just played a show at a local casino here in Humboldt (rural Northern California coast) last November 18th
