Eventuri Intake for G80 M3/G82 M4 - Dyno Figures + Dimple Technology + Carbon Fiber - Part 3/3

Eventuri Intake for G80 M3/G82 M4 - Power Gains + Dimple Technology + Carbon Fibre - Part 3/3
After a few months of rigorous R&D Bilal is finally ready to unveil the finished Eventuri Intake System in Carbon Fiber for the BMW G80 M3 and G82 M4.
He runs you through the final design, taking a closer look at all the ways he has pushed the design to leave no stone unturned. This includes a visit to the classroom and explanation of a new technology that Eventuri are using for the first time in an Intake, an industry first.
Finally we get to see the performance data from the Intake System itself, BMW gave Bilal a challenge here by designing a very functional system, but through his experience managed to improve upon it even further.
To wrap things up we get to see the production system fitted to the car.

    @@harveynumber1 Look at the equation for Pouiselle's law - length is in the numerator, so a longer tube at a smaller diameter has higher resistance to flow. More practically, imagine blowing through a really wide hose with a tiny outlet versus a really tiny hose with a tiny outlet. A lot of the stuff about "no one else has tried this" is ludicrous - every aerodynamicist knows about freaking dimples. If he's figured this out before F1, he would be making millions and you'd see it across the paddock immediately. Cycling engineers figured this out decades ago, for starters. But he's right about the circumference thing.

    Beautiful intakes and engineering. But i have to say, is the dimples worth the extra time/money to implement. Did you test a non dimpled vs a dimpled tube? If so, was there any significant difference? It sounds good and theory makes sense, but does it provide and real world increase in performance or temperatures? Thanks again for the video, very interesting engineering!

    Fantastic product guys!! Very well done 👏 and the explanation of the process from development to the finished product was ace. The whiteboard session was fab too 👌🏼 I had two questions following the back of the video.. The stock intake seems to have a closer temperature delta between the two inlet feeds. The Eventuri seems to have one lower than the other. Is that due to the additional feed from the wheel arch area? And secondly will there be a version with a front mounted scoop as per the F90 M5? Thanks!

  • @Eventuri

    @Eventuri

    2 жыл бұрын

    The lower temperature is down to the more direct path and the material used for the inlet. On the left side. We will consider scoops as a separate part but this will require cutting away some of the panels.

    As always a nice looking product. How come the non-dimpled CFD does not have zero velocity at the wall i.e. as per the expected velocity profile? The dimpled one has higher velocity because the effective area is smaller as the velocity at the wall is lower due to boundary layer thickness. This is the opposite of your claims. Why not just tell us the difference in Mass Flow rate when the dimpled and non-dimpled are subjected to the same boundary conditions of a set pressure differential? Or flow them on a flow bench? Nothing you showed validates the dimples do anything in this application.

    So, for those of us who own the car, we are fully aware of the restrictions of the OEM air box design. One of them being the set of CARBON FILTERS that can easily be removed, resulting in obvious increase in air flow. Having said that. I would love if CAI manufacturers would compare their products against a carbonless OEM system to show their product's worthiness, instead of comparing it to an OEM system that is already twice restricted with one of the restrictions being easily mitigated by the owner. That is why I haven't spent a penny in all the overpriced CAI in the market up to now. Show a Dyno without carbon filters going against your product and then we'll talk.

On a previous race modded production car I owned, I was forced to replace the custom air intake with the stock intake so that the dealership could run tests to figure out why my check engine light was coming on. They eluded to me that the increased airflow could have caused damage to the engine's intake manifold. Questions... 1. Will installing this Eventuri intake void or harm the manufacturer's warranty on the car in any way? 2. Does the car need to be tuned to handle the increased air flow? (tuning DOES void the manufacturer's warranty)

    You lost me at "this hasn't really been experimented or used". It very much has... repeatedly.... for four decades. Yamaha had a really good crack at it around the time they were doing the multi valve head investigations. Pretty much every time it has been investigated the conclusion has been that the Golf ball is the exception that proves the rule. The dimples are more often than not detrimental to airflow and often reduce the effective diameter of any given tube. But feel free to jump through as many mental hoops as possible to make the most of this dead end. Marketing is far more important than facts, right?
