'Even while in our mother's womb, we were exposed to lots of music' say the Trichur Brothers

The third episode of Season 5 features the Trichur Brothers.
Sons of veteran Mridangam Vidwan Shri Trichur R Mohan, they were exposed to Carnatic Music very early in life and their father also trained them on the Laya aspect.
They learnt under many stalwart gurus such as Madurai Smt. Balamani Eswar, Shri Thamarakkadu Govindan Namboothiri, Late Prof. Neyyattinakara Mohanachandran and Padma Bhushan awardee Late Shri P S Narayanaswami.
Known for their uncompromising attitude towards Bhavam and Pataanthara, they also adopt a unique style of raga delineation where both exchange phrases, long and short, in exploring the nuances of a raga. Many well-known critics have pointed out that this is a very unique and effective way of raga delineation that has hitherto not been attempted in duo singing.
They have had many noteworthy global collaborations and also believe that music is among the most effective tools to spread social awareness, for which they have been involved in some interesting projects. They founded a school in the year 2017 to cater to and mould students world-wide in their pursuit of musical excellence.
Apart from music, they are very involved with current affairs and are great sports enthusiasts, enjoying cricket in specific. They love meeting people and am sure with their music and their attitude they bring about a lot of smiles all the time!
Both of them are qualified Chartered Accountants who quit their Corporate jobs in 2014 to be full time musicians and this speaks volumes for their passion and commitment.
Watch on....

I enjoyed this conversation between smt. Sudha Raghunathan & The Trichur Brothers ! In the midddle of the night , when everyone else is sleeping , I wake up so early , say at 2 am , I have no option but listen to good Carnatic Classical music This night I came across this beautiful program !I was so fascinated by the Chat , all three were having , I wad totslly engrossed in their conversations that didn't realize that it was my sleeping time when I needed to rest & relax ! I trully enjoyed the program ! I have always been a big fan of Trichur brothers & now on learning about their other interests such as sports & taking up many important projects such as Namami Gange & Vande Bharathambe ! They would go to any length to achieve what they were asked to do ! At the time of the Kargil war they were in the Indian Army Camp with special permission from the Indian Govt. Their good up bringing by their parents shows in their humbleness ! Thank you all so much ❤ for turning my night into a beautifully spent night having learnt many interesting aspects about your personalities ! 🎉😅

Wonderful interview of the Trichur brothers! The talent of this duo makes anyone with an ability to appreciate Carnatic music, sit up and pay attention to their rendition of songs and ragams in their well-trained voices that so seamlessly complement each other! This listener became an instant "fan" after playing their recorded rendition of Swathi Thirunal's "Bhavayami" that was preceded by a viruttam! The bhakti flowing through it seemed as if Lord Rama had personally granted them a darshan! It's particularly gratifying to see younger artists who proudly display their reverence for the sacred basis of India's classical arts, instead of spouting the usual banalities about secularism. So interesting to know of their general training, particularly voice training at 4 am every day! Such commitment as teenagers, in this day and age, has to be God-given. Their Namami Gange and the Vande Bharathambe videos are beautifully sung and inspiring! The description by the duo, of the trip to the source of the Ganga and their humbling experience over the devotion of a sadhu are fascinating. Listening to their description of the editing of the Vande Bharathambe video that shows troops at the Wagah border stepping to "misra chapu talam" is both amazing and amusing! Wishing this duo continued success in the years ahead!

1/2 I, just simply envy the Children of today, as they are seeing a active World, which we could not in our days. Just seeing friends, relatives were the only pastime for us on School holidays. Learning Carnatic music and being renowned singers of fame involves hard work, commitment, and patience. That too as Siblings together as Singers, dancers requires efforts of an un imaginable proportion. But to create a strong foundation , one needs a Guru who can be from the family or a professional musician. Also one should be lucky enough to have such a guru as Smt.MLV as in the case of Sudha Ragunathan.

Continued: 2/2. After watching the conversations with Trichur Brothers, i even at 72 want to be enrolled with Trichur brothers as student. As Sudhaji felt, Namami Ganga occupied the Center stage of the conversation and rightly so. The Brothers have literally taken us to Ganga at an altitude of over 12 thousand feet. The on line advantage of learning music well narrated. What Sri Krishna openly said on passing to the students, what they have learnt from their Gurus endorses the Guru- teacher cult of learning of those days. Sudha Ragunathan as usual took the interview in her style, and as audience we all drowned for over 70 minutes, just like reading a novel at one go. We have watched in you -tube videos, their concerts, together, but only today we come to know they can also combine well in answering. Krishna allowing his brother Ramkumar , more time than for himself thus bringing out more information for the audience. Also happy to note, they too love the Curd rice as Sudha. They both are simple, humble, and father fearing Children, is the non music lesson for their students. Ramkumar was appreciative of Sarangi, the accompaniment in Hindustani music. We know they have varied interest as they have a music band also. Their music is the same, but they are different in their desires and tastes. (alias RAJAGOPALAN DESIKAN)

He keeps his rasikas to peace when the technician do not k ow to handle the turn know echo to zero on the I put and output side on a 5pin bnc connector or any connector. Why the hell you’re showing hypocrisy by talking in English. தமிழ்ல பேசமுடியாதா. யாரை த்ருப்தி படுத்த இந்த் வேஷம். கர்னாடிக் music group தான் இந்த வேலையை செய்றீங்க. Association in the USA should not encourage bringing hypocrites like you. In the 90’s Carnatic musicians dream was to go abroad and giving interviews in Indian channels about their travels as if it’s a great thing. After we moved to US, we see the reality of the musicians coming here are asked to stay in our homes and depending on us to take you around. But, you all guys portray different picture in the interview by not saying the fact. Same with drama troupe guys too. யெதுக்கு இந்த் பந்தா

I don't see anything wrong with the interview. All musicians were well grounded. What's wrong if the interview is conducted in English? It's an universal language. Helping others where possible goes a long way in life. Happiness is also fulfilled when you extend your helping hand.
