The mandolin was essentially the instrument of amateur musicians in the early to mid 18th century. Vivaldi composed many concertos and trios for the young ladies of the Ospiedale della Pieta - including the famous G major RV532, which must rank as one of his most popular works after the Four Seasons.
The concertos and trios on this CD make a delightful programme, written for the pleasure of gifted students and patrons, full of the hallmarks of Vivaldian style that will not disappoint those who love the famous Four Seasons violin concertos from his Op.8 set. Simple, catchy melodies abound, in both still and often poignant slow movements as well as sparky fast movements.

- Frederico Gugliemo studied with Salvatore Accardo, Isaac Stern and The Amadeus, LaSalle and Quartetto Italiano string quartets before turning to period instrument performance under the guidance of Christopher Hogwood.

It's quite true.
One of the strengths of classical music is its ability to convey strong emotions, from joy and happiness to depth and grandeur.
I always listened to this while going to / getting back from the University in 2017. Memories.
THAT is the way Vivaldi should be played! Absolutely divine, and even better with listened to with higher class headphones. Been listening to classical music fo 80 years; we always had classical music in our home, father like it and therefore, I got introduced to music appreciation, very early in life.

It is a pity Vivaldi died poor but his music was revived in 20th Century and now he is a celebrated baroque composer

This is the true field of Vivaldi. He was the greatest compositor of concertos for mandolin and lute. His feeling is so deep and sensitive then any other compositor. The mandolin and lute are instruments with a beautiful sound, which Vivaldi explores completely. The orchestration and players are superb. Viva Vivaldi and his music that gives us delight moments of pleasure.

Non tutti sanno che appena rinvenute le note di Vivaldi (un secolo fa) sarebbero finite all'asta, un musicista, professore all'università di Torino "Alberto Gentile", grazie a lui che bloccò questo pericolo dicendo di conoscere Vivaldi e pur non avendo finanze, nel giro di anni andò alla ricerca di eventuali spartiti in siti religiosi, per es. Monasteri. Grazie prof. Gentile. Dobbiamo a lei, se Vivaldi è rimasto in Italia, ma soprattutto è potuto rientrare nella sua Venezia, come Juditha trionfante. Amo profondamente Vivaldi, giuro che sono felice che gli abbiano evitato l'asta Sono emozionata, vedere tanti conterranei di Vivaldi, musicisti che danno il.meglio per interpretare le sue composizioni come se il tempo si fosse fermato il 17mo secolo a Venezia.

the 2nd movement of the first concerto is almost like a "teaser" to Sovente il Sole, which is perhaps Vivaldi's most beautiful piece of work, and thats really saying something.
Thank you so much! I only really knew Vivaldi's Four Seasons and this upload has showed me more of his great work.

There's pretty music that trills up and down, and there's great, where every note is essential to the masterful piece, nothing is there to fill up the time, as if Occam's Razor had done its work, leaving only the pure essential.

Vivaldi has always celebrate that marvellous gift from God,life and in all his partitions there's a continuous joyful expression of the sweetness of the existence of humanity,and nature though at times hard and difficult our livelihood may be but Vivaldi try to extract the better part of us and describe it in music. Take a cup of tea and scrutinise the horizon with this melody.

@@josephefasciani7343 Thank-you so much to your reply ！ How is your great country' Canada ？ In Japan , people are hustle and bustle with the increasing infected people of Covid - 19 I'm managing to survive the third wave of attacks hitting Tokyo while listening to Vivaldi's masterpieces and reading Norman Maile's novels . Be on the alert for Coronavirus infection ！ We must never endanger our life with Covid - 19 We must never lose our sense of crisis . Someday please visit Japan in spring or autumn .

I will be 78 next Feb: I believe I got covid-19 on my b'day, 17th Feb 2020, as I've a powerful immune system so I'm over any flu in 3 - 5 days, but this time I was sick 5 weeks! If I had the finances to allow it I would travel to Japan for at least two months: my background is in landscape design/build and I've studied Japanese approach to landscaping very closely. BC is a very good destination for people with Shinto religion, as we are VERY involved with Nature. Unfortunately too many people do not understand this as they should, but I think the situation is getting better. My very favourite movie of all time is Chushingura, 47 Ronin, in the original version with Toshiro Mifumi, whom I believe is the greatest Japanese action actor of all time!

I am a Japanese old boy and a Brucknerian I deeply love Bruckner and Debussy . To listening to Bruckner's symphony is to approach in the realm of God . We must never endanger our life with Covid - 19 We must never lose our sense of crisis . The Covid - 19 is invisible . The sense of crisis diminishes because it is invisible . We live long each other and will see our world change . In Japan , when we have a conversation , invisible droplets spread out . People who have shared meals and conversation with each other are the main infected people . Domestic infections are also increasing . Der erfahrene Dirigent leitet das ausgezeichnete Ensemble im rhythmischen Tempo und mit künstlerisch kontrollierter Dynamik. Alles ist angenehm!

Mary Sinclair - I am ensconced at home due to the coronavirus. Amazing how this music has transported me to another place and time. Vivaldi is much more than the Four Seasons, although that work is transcendent as well.
