Have you considered using time-lapses when you leave us for the traffic to lighten up, it would be cool to see all that unclog.

From a Washington DC resident, I was really hoping this was a scale model of the city and Biffa fixed our traffic nightmares hahaha.

Since watching this series, I've realized I live in a city with straight crossings and timed traffic lights all over the place. It's horrible.

My country is a transit nightmare. Luckily, we're small, so it's not LA bad, but some places are just terrible, not to mention our public transport systems are in disarray, and pedestrian and cycling infrastructure is virtually non-existent.

Timed traffic light is everywhere. That's what the transport department do, they can't go rebuilding and rerouting roads everyday.

What are all of those roundabouts in the beginning? There’s a squareabout, ovalabout, bowlingpinabout and a dildoabout.

Why call it an oval about? Its not called a circle about, ovals are still round aren't they?

Quick tip for everyone, don't have a single bus line go everywhere. There needs to be a clear reason for being there (residential neighbourhood line feeding to metro stop and back). This is as basic of a concept as lane management. Get this right and your city will run smoother

.... SLC runs most of their buses either N-S or E-W, and terminate them at one end or both at tram stations. The ones terminated at both ends by tram stations typically run E-W for 20-40 blocks and then turn to run N-S for another 20-40 blocks. Works well.

I bought SC because of Biffa's videos! As soon as my traffic goes below 80%, i start fixing it for hours until its at 82 - 83%. Makes so much fun. Thanks Biffa!

At 7:50 you saw an ambulance use the wrong lane to turn right. You called this weird but this is actually a thing real ambulances do to get through traffic quicker.

There is a peanut roundabout I used to use a lot... and it was literally peanut shaped. Squishabout is clearly the right name

I was driving through Tooting today, there was a bus stop 5 metres away from an intersection and I thought to myself, Biffa wouldn't approve.

youve earned a sub and a binge watcher, i play cities skylines while i watch your videos, my city is only up to 20k people, but once everyone is happy and nothing major needs to happen to the town for a bit, instead of watching it run i fix traffic.. i even had a dream last night about diverging diamond intersections, and had to try it as soon as i woke up. keep doin you!

We need more horky borky abouts! Those were a great addition to the collection of ovalabouts, roundabouts, triangleabouts and squareabouts :D

I have just started to notice how ridiculously high off the ground the pedestrian paths on Biffa's roundabouts are.

They usually need to be about 9 metres before the game will let you place them. Of course you can cheat with anarchy but you might see the occasional smokestack clipping through...

"I've done a lot of work with lane math and traffic manager" As the intro rolls over a highway section with seemingly random 3 and 4 lane sections.

All of those are perfect in the intro. Not sure what you're talking about. They've extended the 3-lane to go to 4-lane to have a dedicated turn-off lane and then done the lane mathematics correctly.

This can't be Washington DC... People are allowed to make left turns in this city.

An oval is still round....so an ovalabout is still a roundabout....if you wanna be fancy you could call it an oblate roundabout.

80% is my guess 👍 Damn 1% off!! I’m blaming the horkey-porky-about! lol

The bus stop on the bus lane was setup perfectly. The bus lane was set to be one way with the bus stop at the very end before they pull out into the main traffic, giving lots of room for buses to queue up behind each other without blocking the main traffic flow. really liked that idea for keeping buses off the main roads

Well with a few simple changes to the roundabouts, the ovalabouts, and the horky-borkyabouts, we’ve managed to get the traffic up to a respectable 79%! Horky-borkyabouts! That word made my day! 😄

Why am I addicted to a man who fixes virtual traffic jams! (PS, perseverence paid off, and my city is now up to 69% thanks to biffarising)

you should seek the magical 80%.... probably need a roundabout. And a Roundabout bypass lane. Possibly with multiple exits.

I came here because City Skylines was on Steam Summer Sale, didn't buy it (too many DLCs to buy) but since then I'm spending 3h every day watching this channel and I don't really know why. I think I'm addicted to roundabouts.

City-fix days are the best! Living near Washington, D.C., which has roundabouts and horrid traffic... I was all, "Wha? We got those already, and it's not helping us, either." But we don't have the wacky oval/bowlingpin-abouts. :) Just a Capitol Beltway (around the city) which jams up for no particular reason every dang day. People crab about L.A. traffic. I was there a few years back and thought, "What's all the whining about? This looks normal." Ugh. I swear I feel like a Cim sitting in traffic most days. 😝 Anyhow...this city had some interesting road layout experiments, that's for sure!

Biffa! Love watching your content. Have used all your tricks to keep my city thriving. Built a train cargo terminal last night and the traffic to it demolished the sponge I had made, so I built 2 more with sponges and problems solved. Keep up the great work!

There are a number of nice metro stations in the workshop that can solve many problems - and even offer underground pedestrian crossing at busy intersections.

WOW, this is the first time I've actually been able to load one of these save-games using the Cities Skylines game with none of the paid DLC!!!!! LOL, the "before fix" original save game specified 15 mods/assets required. the "after fix" BIFFA's saved game specifies 2919 mods/assets required. maybe BIFFA is going a little overboard with his mods/subscribed custom assets? I love your show Biffa, just keep doing what you're doing!

Me: 1 bus line and 7 metro lines. Biffa: no bus (there is a busline right in front of you) and tons of metro lines. Nice work. Keep up the good work!

The main problem with this city is that the person never used any larger main roads... most of the roads are just 2-lane roads covered in buildings

That's a classic issue with many older cities. No room to expand. Definitely requires some creative solutions if you don't want to go around bulldozing neighborhoods.

I have not played Cities: Skylines in a couple years... But I still enjoy watching you manage traffic in the game. Cheers.

Yo biffa, emergency vehicles don't obey TMPE's lane rules. So that's why they will still use any lane for exiting a highway

Motto of the day: Around the bout in 80 biffs. PS: Will try to make a motto for each fix using quotes, films, books etc...

Another wonderful video. Not gonna lie though, I really enjoyed the horky-borky-about. Also, because of you and the Steam sale, I finally caved in. I don't have everything, I can't really afford the DLCs yet, and my computer is garbage that can barely run the game, but it's a start.

That's good. Putting all DLCs on at once, especially when you haven't gotten the hang of base game, would be disastrous... often literal disasters in the city. lol

I won't stop mentioning the music :). Btw emergency vehicles ignore lane arrows. Oh and there's too many buses

15:45 I would realy suggest putting the connection to the left-bound highway above and around the existing one. With those tiny connections any problem with merging into the highway will potentialy instantly spill back into the roundabout. Lane management at the "Y" point will probably help, but I wouldn't risk it. There's nothing to loose in making the branch a bit longer anyway.

I recently turned off despawning and I realized how much traffic was going to agriculture and how much was despawning. t's taken me an entire day, but my traffic is back up to 75%. Can barely get it higher because my industry is just insanely busy... Thank you for your fixes! 😁

Biffa your hotkeys were off the hook this video. Love it. Some Cities players are putting videos out and slowing clicking everything, every time. Drives me crazy as I arm chair quarterback :p

We all were biffarised haha. Thank you Biffa, I started this game about 2 months ago and I'm on my forth city already, at least the traffic jams are not that much fo a problema now. I was using TMPE but now I'm not and the cars disappear, I guess that's the dispawning on, maybe I should turn it off when I use TM again. Metro and buses sure help a lot but too much industry creates too much traffic yikes, balance it's imperative if the production is too big, too many trucks everywhere.

@26:25 It was blocking up because the top roundabout had the right lane as both turn right and go straight forward. If that had the sttaight forward turned off, all the traffic going from the lower roundabout to the top one would have been able to successfully merge.

Love watching your videos . Helps me out alot on the xbox version even know there's no traffic mobs for it

Yeah I want to see more aesthetic purity as well... nice roads, vanquish the ugly ones! The people sending in cities clearly haven’t learned how to make an attractive city; fair enough - he should teach them :)

The lane mathematics techniques work so amazingly well that I was able to fix so many issues in my city!

I really liked the Bus only lanes, game player. & placement of traffic-inducing facilities is important. yeah.

I have a 208k population city, traffic is around 75%. It's actually the first and only city I built since I started playing Cities Skylines a couple of months ago. I managed this by watching Biffa's videos. Trains are horrible though. Everything was backing up, so I had to built horrible spaghetti train junctions to make it work...

I don't know why KZread recommended you to me, but I'm glad it did. Just found your channel, and I'm on my eighth vid. Keep unclogging those motorways!

This city can easily be fixed by spreading some of the large industrial zone to other parts of the city. Having one big industrial zone, is a big mistake.

Métro stops not good when places at intersections? Back in old Sim City games tey told you that bus and metro stops were more efficient when placed at intersections... For busses I'd understand that placing them too close from intersections could be bad for traffic flow, but metros??? You still can ban pedestrian crossings and and replacing them by ped paths...

That horky-borky-about was clearly a bone-about. Nice job with this one! I would have liked to see you address the bus route. Something like 4 passengers per bus, on average? And why is there a multi-lane bus station with only one bus line?
