Even Lebron Had To Admit That Luka OUTSMARTED Him...

Спорт

Support by buying my NBA T-Shirts: heatcheck.info/
Even Lebron himself had to give respect to Luka for what he did to the Lakers.
Watch the chess game that went on on the court. In order to get the favorable matchup of Austin Reaves on Doncic, the Mavs use him as the screener. And Hardaway’s quickness forces Prince to switch and close down the lane. So Dallas get what they want, and now we got the easy blow-by here by Luka despite going 2 miles an hour, forcing the defense to close down on him.
Even with 3 guys around Doncic doesn’t panic and finds Exum wide open in the corner for the 3.
Right here we got 1 screen and a switch, and another one which the Lakers also switch.
At this moment there is a lob threat, which both Lebron and Reddish are ready to intercept,
Williams is open on the wing but Exum is right next to Luka all alone as well off because James helps down low off of him.
And with all the time in the world to get set, Dante hits another three.
This one needs no additional commentary.
The way that Doncic makes these finds look so easy is unbelievable. Exum benefited a lot from all the attention that Luka attracted from the defense and there’s a reason why he shot 7 for 9 from downtown. He was wide open on all of these.
Now this is where things get interesting with Exum.
I guess the Lakers followed the scouting report saying that he was 8 for 28 from downtown coming into the game,
but what they may not know is that Donte shot 42% from beyond the arc during his 2 seasons in Europe.
And if you can knock it down in Serbia in this type of atmosphere, you know that this is legit.
So why the slow start then? Well, due to limited playing time he couldn’t really get into a rhythm, and has a bunch of 0 for 1 and 0 for 2 games. That’s not enough shots and rhythm.
So now in the last 3 games, with Kyrie, Josh Green and Derrick Jones Jr not playing- Dante has been getting 35 minutes per game and he’s been using that to the fullest.
Going back to Luka tho, just watch what happens here. On the second consecutive screen, he gets in front of Reddish and it’s a 2 on 1 against Lebron. He does a good job initially of staying in the middle between Doncic and Lively on the potential lob, but did you catch that?
Let me run it back to show you how Luka raises his arm faking out James for the pass, and that leaves the lane wide open for him on the layup.
That type of patience in a split second situation is incredible, and he does it again here on the drive as he stays patient with 3 guys on him he just pump fakes- sending everyone flying, and puts it in.
This is a similar situation like the Lebron example, with a double screen on Luka only this time AD doesn’t stay in the middle and attacks Doncic instead. So we got…
Not only did he completely dissect the Lakers defense for the entire game, but he’s been on an absolute tear for the last 8 games scoring at least 30 everytime, he got 35 point triple doubles and a bunch of other crazy stats. He’s been on a rampage lately.
But I gotta give a special shoutout to Tim Hardaway Jr for his effort.
You see the 32 points on efficient shooting, and of course that’s phenomenal, but what you won’t see in the boxscore are sacrifices like this one right here getting the offensive foul.
Then the same thing in the second quarter against Reaves.
And in the fourth we got yet another charge for Hardaway forcing another turnover.
He’s second in the league in this category actually, but despite that, I just love the role that he’s got with the team this year coming off the bench and being efficient.
Almost 18 points per game on 39.0% from downtown, that’s how you help Luka and Kyrie and make this team dangerous in the west.
With 4 wins in a row, the Mavs have been rolling lately, and contrary to them- the Pelicans have been up and down this season, and Zion heard the comments about him being fat and out of shape so here’s what he did. Check out the video right here. Talk to you in the next one. Peace out.

He is never going to shoot like this again. Dante Exum always has a moment here and there every season; a cool pass or tuff move; this year he had a hot night. Not gonna happen again. This is like if Andre Drummond went and had himself a 30pt game.

Both Doncic and Jokic bring that Euro slow-mo pace to the NBA and that shit is like magic. I don't think it's a matter of the defenders getting used to it, it's much more complicated than that. Particularly with Doncic, by moving slower it increases the odds of an open look opening up somewhere. Also, the defender is almost 100% reactive to the ball handler, so the speed really is set by the ball handler and the defender can't do much about that except look silly for getting beat. By going slower and putting emphasis on his moves, it makes this illusion to a defender that he's a sitting duck or that he's making a mistake. But as soon as the defender makes the move he thinks is right to capitalize, Doncic tricks that defender and moves on, and only after the goal is made do his opponents realize the larger plot he used them in. Jokic is an entirely different beast, but similarly knows the importance of owning the pace of play.

nah, it's not about speed, it's about acceleration. It's much easier to accelerate when you're going slow. And you have more control. The split-second a defender is off-balance, you can go. Also, when going slow, defenders look around more for screens because they are more stable. When at speed, you can't really do that. But because of that, defense has less eye on the ballhandler. Which gives them that split second too. Harden was a master because of his stationary dribble, and then accelerate past the player.

I think another way to put it is the tradeoff between control and speed. Specifically how those two aspects create a tempo that your defender has to react to, and thus, giving you choices to make. By "slowing" things down, they're increasing the amount of control and options they have, and it's all still happening fast enough that the defender doesn't have time to break down what the options available are, and gets stuck in a guessing game that has like 5 different choices: a lob, a slow drive, a step back, a screen, a fake... it just makes the base nature of the game much more difficult.

An ordinary day on Serbian basketball game... Exum's ex club - Partizan! You don't have to win just the opposite team. You play that team's stands if you're a guest team and it's not easy. The whole stadium shakes. The flares are on, the club's anthem is sung. The whole stands are ready to f: someone's mother if needed. Unfortunately, sometimes things go very wrong; fans of Crvena Zvezda were attacked in Bologna, Italy in October this year and it was bad. One got hammer in head, the rest of them were his body shield (he was knocked out). Maybe a month later, Crvena Zvezda's stuff were attacked in Croatia. I remember that some journalist asked Jokić if he was afraid, or something like that when Miami fans booed him. He said: "Brother, I played in Serbia"! Some American player went back to the NBA and was asked if he was afraid playing against Kobe (he would guard him). He said: "Man, I played Belgrade fans! What's Kobe for me"?

You saw the reality of this team when he was out against Grizzlies (and thatwqs with Kyrie, DJJ, Green healthy). Dude is carrying a team that is fielding lineups of 4 summerleqgue perticipants (Lively, Omax, Hardy, Lawson at times) next to him, to 3rd place in the west. Luka ball is insane to watch when him and the Mavs are making shots. It’s an open look every play. Either Luka goes one on one or you help and he or someone else finds the open man. Lakers would’ve had a much easier time if Vanderbelt was playing. Prince and Reddish didn’t have the length or strength to defend him. The problem with the Mavs tho is they live and die by the 3, which works most the time but if those 3s aren’t falling the team will fall apart on offense. Exum, Williams and Hardaway combing for 17 3s on 65% isn’t something you can ever rely on

This is a well played game by Mavs. It is interesting to see how Lakers would react in their next matchup. I am quite envy of how deep other teams are while Lakers cannot function well when there are 2 or more guys out. They should really have a good look in this game. Even if I am glad seeing LeBron and AD leading the team, I think it is also a bad thing because when one of them is offline, their loss is guaranteed.

@@BoboDetector yeah, lack of depth is their problem, one or two guys injured and they struggle hard Add inconsistency in the mix from DLo and AD. They fall off really hard. As for Bron, I can't blame him too much but he costs some crucial plays and sometimes freethrows. But then, it is still a team game. If the team plays well, they won't get to the point where the result goes down to whether Bron miss a layup or not. Bron and AD scored 60 but that's it, they need more from the team. To be fair, I will give them a chance to see how they will go against Mavs again. Unless Mavs have more dark horses in their roster, I won't be surprised if Lakers will be beaten again. Also, Darvin Ham, damnnit.

Sometimes dangerous party. There's no of special police forces that can handle those guys if shit happen! It's Europe, not just Serbia! Our fans sing club's anthems through the whole game and it goes from father to son. It's like defending your city! It's not even close to the NBA, where fans switch clubs when their favourite players get traded, or the club lose! I can't figure out those fans! What are they standing up to? Individual players? Only winning teams? I saw the video of KD in basketball arena in Greece. The stands were in flares, it was loud and he couldn't believe it! 😂

I don't want to sound like a hater, but the regular season defend intensity is not like in the playoff. When it matters, Luka Doncic haven't prove anything yet. To make it worst, The Mavs actually tried their best to help Doncic by bringing KP and now Kyrie. Until he proves his value in the playoff, his regular season performance is merely stats padding, just like James Harden in The Houston.

You do realize that Lukas game is built for the slow half court playoff style. He’s statistically the second best playoff scorer all time already only behind MJ and we aren’t even talking about Lukas assists and rebounds. You really don’t know what your talking about do you? The playoffs are slower, and half court offense is king. That’s what Luka is god at.

A few years ago I thought, like most people, that the "Euro Step" was a fad, a bit of a gimmick - a puzzle that the League would eventually figure out. Nope - it's no gimmick, it's a solid tool that, if you can master it, can fuck up even a great defender. It's the basketball equivalent of the change up pitch. Timing and touch can beat speed and athleticism, if you know when and how to use it.
