+Sitting on Ceilings The reason why Putin interfered is because the Crimea sanctions were hurting Russia quite badly (ruble down 50% since 2015....). The reason he currently has his hand up Trump's ass is to prevent him from implementing the new sanctions that Congress overwhelmingly voted on. I think if we implemented those, and doubled down again (after Trump goes to death row) he would make the simple calculation that being Dictator of an ex-Superpower is better than being the new Czar Nicholas II.

Not the process; the corruption and the population complicate the outcome. For a hypothetical, assume the Russian "presidential" election was not controlled and manipulated by Putin to ensure that he wins - if there was an objectively fair and democratic election - a majority of Russian citizens may still want to elect Putin because he's a bully to other nations and is solely focused on restoring Russia's place on the world stage (i.g. Cold War era). Russian citizens might not even care if Putin is corrupt because he is able to improve Russia's global standing from quasi-third-world country at the collapse of the Soviet Union.

We know there's a xenomorph on the space station, but it hasn't eaten anyone yet. And if it impregnates someone with a chest burster, we'll just have tell it that we're aware of what it's doing.

Zoë Rae Typically you would use a commission of local people from different parties to count the votes. Anyone can volonter to help within their area, and everyone watches everything. Also, votes aren't shredded until after the next election.That's how lots of countries do it, and it makes it really hard to cheat, because you would need several hundred thousand people placed in the right places to do it.

Zoë Rae You clearly haven't seen a working democracy. So, report from Germany: ballots are cast in ballot boxes on sheets of paper, put into special envelops. People vote where they are registered as sitting citizens, and if they happen to be away from there that day they can vote per mail (paper!). Municipalities organise all that. No need of special registration as a voter. Never anybody is not in the voters list. Local commissions of local people, nominated by the parties participating in the elections count and recount the votes manually. In the venue, members of the commission cross out those citizens in the list who have cast their vote. Citizens identify themselves by their ID cards or passports (not driving licenses, god beware!) Counting is in the very venues where the ballot box was, usually e.g. a neighbourhood school or kindergarten. So, no transportation where ballot boxes could be swapped or manipulated. Results are stated in protocols signed by the members of the local commission. If there are doubts, the paper ballots can be recount. No chance for Russian cyber gurus to interfere. From a European standpoint The US election system is dysfunctional, even absurd.

it's odd that they say that russia didn't do anything. As far as i know New York and Arizona had a decent percentage of voter's registrations changed without their knowledge. the severity depended on the county. we could honestly say that may be a possible result of the meddling since again, as far as i know there is no explanation as to why this happened.

Maybe go back to paper ballots you mark with a pencil, like Canada? Pretty hard to hack paper and pencil. Please choose one: Candidate A (Republican) [__] Candidate B (Democrat) [__] ...And then you count them. No chads, no computers to hack, PLUS a paper trail. Pretty straight-forward, guys.

It's just as easy to recount paper ballots, though, and for them to be miscounted in the first place, you have to have an entire room full of people being corrupted. People think physical ballots would fix the issues the States has with hacked electronic systems and miscounted votes because no other country who uses pencils and paper has these issues that seem to be systemic for you guys.

First you have to get access to the ballots, which are sealed, and then inserted into an individual sealed envelope, and then inserted into a sealed box, and not left alone or with less than two people from the point that the ballot is inserted until they are counted, in another room full of people. The only ballot you can "hack" with an eraser is yours, and only then while you're still in the voting booth.

I haven't been up to date on news lately so I wasn't aware of the Russia news, so starting with the Fox and Friends writer job DID NOT prepare me for the rest of the news.. How much more shame can we bring our own country to? A lot more than u thought we ever could

He has some grasp of the situation, and he's definitely being more honest about the situation than anyone else in that god foresaken whitehouse. When you're holding up George W. In the process they basically admit they were lying. Why isn't the news focusing on that!? Seriously, these guys keep moving the goalposts, pretending that they never said things that they very obviously said. And nobody calls them out on it! I'm not saying they're the only ones who do it, everyone does it, but when you see it happen publicly like this you'd think someone would point it out. At least it'd be a better use of their time than hyping up that stupid fucking memo.

Obama is listed at a 6'1.5" and he's clearly taller than Trump. So not only did he lie about the weight, he had to tack on 2 inches as well so he wasn't in the Obese category

As president, he was an idiot, he did cause the needless deaths of way too many people and he hid behind Cheney's skirts and did what he was told. But, he wasn't trying to destroy this country And become a dictator, which is what our current president is doing. That is why Stephen called Bush the 2nd worst president.

No. Trump is a clown, his enablers are clowns. They are causing damage, and we will have to work to repair the damage. I was a victim of Hurricane Harvey, and I will tell you first hand - Harvey was destructive, unpleasant, and expensive - but Harvey did not "end" my city of Houston. We stuck together and we worked through it (and still are), because that's what concerned citizens do. Trump's not out to destroy America, he's out to save himself from accountability and public embarrassment - and grenade blasts against American institutions are the unfortunate casualties of his behavior. It sucks, and it's sobering, but it's obvious to anybody with even a modicum of objectivity that Russia's got Trump by the balls and Trump is desperate. Trump is flailing around trying to save his precious little ego from being impaled by the spear of justice, but really, he's just a fat little piggy, prime to be skewered and roasted. I understand that Trump never should have happened, but he did - and he has spent his entire presidency showing the entire planet what an incompetent little cunt he is. If people support him, and believe him and the right-wing bunny-coddle apparatus present on Fox News, there is nothing that can be done to help them. They're dying off, and this is their last gasp for air before they asphyxiate from the rope they have been hanging themselves with for the last thirty years. America is in a bad place right now, but we are awake. Last thing we need right now is succumb to Trump's primadonna drama, and whine about the destruction of America. Lady Liberty is not dead, but she is being beaten and raped by a reckless and abusive spouse. We're not having it. Stay tuned.

That last line about mr. bush - killed it. nailed it. absolutely.

She actually said 21 states were targeted and an exceptionally few of THOSE were successfully penetrated. 1 of 21 is around 5%. 2 of 21 is around 10%. You can't use 50 states as the base number. With 1 or 2 as the "exceptionally small number" you can't really downplay it percentage-wise, especially if those are states with several college votes.

'..a few..' is typically 3 or a number usually less than 6 - many usually means 6 or more - more than can be counted on one hand.

He does not take Bush's words as a gospel. His words just match with reality and are therefore quoteworthy. Bush being a known liar just gives it some more impact when he actually speaks a verifiable truth.

I really don't understand: Why do the US not simply cast their votes on paper into s ballot box and count the results manually by local commissions. That's how its done in many if not most Europeab countries. With such a simple procedure no meddling via computer networks is possible. So simple.
