EVEN FASTER BALL!! Emerald% 25m25s

At the end of the run, I find myself happy and fulfilled...
This run is done with the Emerald Ball. A ball added most recently by the Dev for speedrunning purposes. It's even FASTER then the previous (Sapphire) speedrun ball.
It's sloppy near the end but it's the first run to not fail on Ashes...

It took some time for sure. But the game relaxes me so it’s all good! Not sure about the game’s songs, but the final song is certainly the best
There used to be some old game from like the 2010s that was this but you were the ball, downhill and you rolled through castle things. I need to find it again

Why does the timer stop when you reach the olympic tile? people could still make slight mistakes that would result in slower times no?

Yes the track stays the same. but many balls have fun different properties. Like the extremely bouncy basketball!

No greater compliment then being compared to a TAS. Glad you liked it! I actually improved my time down to 23:41 if you want to watch to see that on my channel. It makes this run look sloppy in comparison :)

Those are just the speedrun timing rules. I just follow them :) i finish the game anyway to farm coins!

@emilysherman3596 at that point it's a straight shot, there isn't really any opportunity to get time saves so everyone's final time would just be when they cross the border plus an equal amount of time to reach the end.

Technically all boulders sound the same 😅 but both emerald and sapphire boulders do stick better to your hands because of their speed. Any surface in particular that made it sound sticky? Thanks for watching!!

I’m curious- I noticed you didn’t use any of the obstacle mechanics to get speed boosts, was there none you found in practice? Also in the damaging floor level where you’re supposed to stay on the bridge, before you take the second hit of damage when taking a shortcut through the sand/lava, jump and you can avoid knock back damage, saving about a second each time

Yes and no, kinda! Exploding barrels can be used to boost the ball upwards, but it’s only useful for slower balls as the time it takes for this ball to boost up and land ahead isn’t faster then just rolling it regularly. There is another boost possible at bamboo when the bamboo spikes launch out of the floor. But we have not found a consistent way to aim it yet. Finally for the ash level, fastest way up is either walking on top of the ball (very unreliable, used to get out of a pinch) or go across the wooden floor. So walking upwards with the ball on ash is mostly a means to an end to save the run from dying.
Imo this game is not really for speedruns. Dev had to remove the key point of the game to make it somewhat speedrun-able and still it's extremely linear. In other games like climbing you can improve by applying new techniques but here it's really straightforward. Most of the time is just going further without much complication
