EVE Solo PvP: Lasker's First HAW Dread Fight

Lasker Emanuel presents his very first HAW Revelation anti-subcap fight from late 2017. Here, he explains his fit, and how he came up with it during the early stages of the HAW dread meta. The commentary works best when read alongside the video!
The fit I used in this video is the following:
[Revelation, Capablanca Jose's Revelation]
Capital I-a Enduring Armor Repairer
Heat Sink II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Heat Sink II
Damage Control II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Heat Sink II
Capital I-a Enduring Armor Repairer
Capital F-RX Compact Capacitor Booster
Domination Heavy Stasis Grappler
Federation Navy Stasis Webifier
Republic Fleet Warp Disruptor
Quad Mega Pulse Laser II, Sanshas Multifrequency XL
Siege Module II
Quad Mega Pulse Laser II, Sanshas Multifrequency XL
Corpus X-Type Heavy Energy Neutralizer
Quad Mega Pulse Laser II, Sanshas Multifrequency XL
Capital Energy Metastasis Adjuster I
Capital Energy Metastasis Adjuster II
Capital Energy Metastasis Adjuster II
This fit has 2842 DPS (cold) with Sansha Multifrequency loaded, and with Strong Drop running, a tracking of 3.94. It has 1.03 m EHP, and can rep 13,934 damage per second cold no drugs. Running all mods including the cap booster, it has a cap life of 6 minutes and 33 seconds.
It’s my first ever HAW dread fight, and I am not wild about the fit. I think the high and mid slots are alright, or at least it’s the same basic configurations I use on most HAW Dreads. 3 turrets, siege module, and the heavy X-Type neut in the utility high (with a range of 32 + 16). The neut is a key part of the application against small ships, shooting at frigates is often not especially profitable unless you are able to neut them out (which the heavy x-type generally does in one cycle). At this point, it becomes easier, but by no means guaranteed - and you can spend a lot of time shooting at cap-dry ceptors without ever hitting).
The four mids having cap booster, warp disruptor, grapple and web I regard as necessary, and all of my fits have these four modules in the midslots.
For the lows, I would definitely do something different today, although what exactly I am not sure. Certainly something that would give better tank and cap life. Maybe go single booster instead of 2x, or active hardeners, or the ancil rep (which gives both burst rep, and better efficiency, if you run it with paste, then reload and use the other one, then back again.)
I also don’t love the all-tracking rigs, but don’t see what can be done to change them. At 3.94 this is the lowest tracking I have ever taken a HAW dread out with, and it’s very noticeable if you (for example) roll a tracking penalty on the Exile.
If you want to spoil the outcome of the fight, you can view the battlereport here.

Thank you for sharing the story, I have always been a big fan and the story you shared is actually similar to how I have felt lately, I stopped thinking so much about what I have to do in Eve and now just do what I want to do for fun. I realized I play Eve to escape, to tune into something deeply and for even a short time tune out all the outside noise. Flying haw dreads is the most enjoyable thing I do in Eve, I've spent a lot of time lately trying to get a decent fight in one which I'm sure you know is hard, but have been lucky enough to have a couple great engagements. Keep up the great work as an Init. member I truly wish you the best and hope you find enjoyment in your new journey.

Lasker, I’m sorry to hear of your health woes. I’m no stranger to them myself. What cheers me up, are the little things in life. Such as your uploads! I know what you mean, with the adrenaline going. No other PvP game has ever tapped into fight-or-flight instincts, like Eve. It’s amazing that a game can do that! I still remember how my heart pounded, after killing two interceptors in my Cyclone. My other account was in a mining ship, 500km above the belt, so anyone jumping in, would see sitting ducks on their scanner. They were my first solo kills, ever, and hearing you recount your own tale, Dreadnought style, has brought those memories back to life! Love your channel! 🖖😀

Tbh you make HAW Dread vs Subcap Fleet fights look so good and fun! I wonder if it’s still viable to do these in the current meta. Also, how do you find fleets and get the dread (and modules)?

  • @LaskerEmanuelEVE

    @LaskerEmanuelEVE

    5 жыл бұрын

I actually don't know myself, my health has gotten worse, and I have not been trying, at the same time I am told that all manner of small gang and solo content has gotten harder. For the logistics, I buy dreads from whoever in my current group sells them, and I buy fits in Jita, and have them shipped to where the dread is. Then I move the dread via cynos to where-ever I want to pick a fight (Or, alternatively, just start gating it). To find groups to fight, you can either go to someone elses space (Easy, fast, will definitely get a fight), but that fight has a really high chance of you getting dunked by caps. You can also wait for a fleet to come to your space, then go out to meet them (A bit like a one man home defense fleet). You are maybe a little less likely to be dunked by caps, but you have to wait for them to come to you (You may still get dunked by caps, fair warning).

Hey Lasker, I’m currently deployed with the army, but come December when I get home, I’ll gladly join your corp to learn how to live and fight in null. I’ve played Eve for several years, but barely venture into low at this point. I haven’t really branched out much, as my friends who got me into the game no longer play...

@6:00 about ADD and that it's not a problem when in the virtual game fight... I must say that, ever thought about the fact that...it is simply something you enjoy? hence why it is easier to focus on something like that. If you would've find something else, like...constantly tinkering with your car engine and everything car related, you probably wouldn't have issues there because it is something that fascinates you or any other reason why it keeps you actually focused. The reason why you can't focus on anything else most of the time, is because it's not interesting to you, not enough interest. You can avoid it in life by just focusing on things you like, you wont really notice that much that you have a ADD, only in your back of the head you will remember that you have it, but if you are doing your thing, then there wont be any problems in life, you just have to excel at it and push your strengths.

Well, I hate to see anyone dealing with depression. Allot of people and particularly men tend to think of depression as an excuse. I know first hand it is not, as I have been diagnosed as bi polar. Ups and downs like a roller coaster, but age and learning have helped. I also was not as bad as some. I hope you stay strong and overcome it all even though I do not know you. The corp thing seems like an okay idea. I never really stuck to it after Islaw, the corp I was in collapsed. I kind of bounced around to a couple, and I enjoyed it , but I usually did not have much time to commit to a corp, and I like to roll solo at any rate. I admit to playing an alt just to relax when I thought someone was monitoring who was up or not LOL. I hope the corp thing works out for you, and you don't get a slew of glory hounds out to ride your shirt tails. Sounds cynical but I think its true. You got a KZread channel so........ I still do not PVP enough to be any good at it. Staying subbed and tuned in. Man I hate to see you down, strange that isn't it? I don't even know if your a girl or a guy, I do know that you put out interesting content, and your random thoughts, put out to the public are something that is missing from other Eve online content creators. Kinda cool to see what was going on in your head. You take it one day at a time. Enjoy yourself and know that people are wishing you well judging from the other comments.

Why does everyone who do pvp vids always remove the game sound and replace it with only music? I'm not complaining about the music it's fine, but you don't have to remove the audio from the game. You can do both you just have to make the music a little quieter. Don't mean to be rude if it came off this way! It's only that the game audio is a pretty integral part of it and when you remove it it feels like you have removed a part of the experience.

I'm confused as to how this even happened, they had no hope, whatsoever of killing you before you could slowboat back to the gate. Without even sieging. And the last what 7 frigates stay on grid why? They Burn directly away from you instead of warping off. As we get to minute 10 I see why. I call staged for your recruitment video.

You have found me out, I did stage it. 2 years ago I knew I would open a corp in 2019, and that my youtube channel would take off, so in preparation I asked GIGx to send a CO2 suicide squad for me to kill: zkillboard.com/related/30003742/201707110100/ Why did I not fake something impressive you ask? How did I see the future? I can't tell you that right now, Wheels within wheels friend, wheels within wheels.
