I thought I would like it a great deal, but found it not nearly as good as I thought it would be. For one thing it takes a ton of mental cycles to operate, for another, it burns through 3200s FAST. I will go back to non-ancil for the next one.
@Torenhire
6 жыл бұрын
I think the mental cycles is just something you'd eventually get used to, much like flying a non-ancil is to you now. Me personally, I don't have a real preference one way or another, just recall a lot of people recommending you try it and it's always neat to see someone trying something new to themselves, especially in EVE. Definitely was getting nervous watching your 3200s # going down and very quickly, and those reload cycles were pretty nail biting at times lol. Makes me want to crosstrain to a Phoenix!
Thank you for posting :)

Don't forget to use the trick I told you with the 3 giant secure cans in your fleet hangar, you get a hell of a lot more boosters in there compared to just sticking boosters directly into your hangar. OP to remind you: Btw a little tip with the cap boosters in fleet hangar, dont stack them in there like that, get 3 giant secure containers, name then can 1, 2, 3 etc. fill with navy boosters and put in fleet hangar. It allows you to get around 120 boosters in the cans altogether, with 1k m3 spare in your fleet hangar for stuff like spare fuel, mods etc.

I'm not sure if you are still looking at comments here or not.. But I'm curious about something, and maybe you can help me. Would it make sense to fill a high slot with a smart bomb to kill off some of the drones and reduce the damage you're taking during a fight.. or, is it usually more advantageous to put something else into a high slot and just eat the drone damage? I'm very much a noob when it comes to large gang PvP and just finally trained into my last dread today so I'm curious. Thank you for your time and your vids.

Thank you so much for these videos. I've been learning how to fly a dread (My corp and I are building up for our first titan and I wanted experience in the closest thing we could find). It's been super helpful to learn how you think and control the space with a dread, as most people who make videos with them don't actually explain what they're doing. Just out of curiosity, do you have any advice for flying the titan (it'll be a Leviathan, hence me learning the Phoenix), or videos like these you could recommend? I have a friend who used to be a titan pilot for goonswarm who was going to teach me on the test server, but since it closed I need all the advice I can get beforehand.
@LaskerEmanuelEVE
5 ай бұрын
I don't have a ton of Titan advice, it's pretty different, because I was comfortable losing a dread and mostly titan pilots don't feel that way. Most people who fly supers do so in super fleets, and do so under the command of super fleet FCs. When I flew a dead, I almost always knew who had capital supremacy in a given system I planned to be in, often I knew who their cap FCs were, if they were on, and how long it would take to form. I was sometimes ok being caught, but it was mostly not by surprise. All of the above all the more so for a titan, which is SO much more ISK on grid.
too bad that bigger ships like that, when they explode they don't damage or destroy ships in the vicinity

Thank you for the kind words. The skills are definitely not all Vs, it's mostly IVs and Vs, with perhaps a handful of lower skills mixed in. I have spent a lot of time working on micro management, but of course their are always improvements to be made.
Would love more capital pvp of any kind.
Lasker - moar big ship fights!
Love my Phoenix. I get shit because most everyone in Null flies the Naglfar, but a properly fitted Caldari ship can absolutely wreck a battlefield in the hands of a capable pilot.
why I never see smart bombs fitted? or is this not possible at this big ships? or is the dmg of the drones not a threat?
Errmm is grappler's range calculated from the sig radius center ? Or from the edge ?

I really dont feel a single smartbomb is ever worth it on any fit really. Heavy nuet is way more value. Peels tackle and nuets small ships pretty hard. One smart bomb just isnt really good enough to get rid of heavy drones. and light and med drones just arnt that big a deal for these ships.

New subscriber here. I've watched about eight of your videos so far and have enjoyed every one. I haven't played EvE since the freighter nerf, and I've never used a combat capital ship, so I have a newbie question for you: In situations like this where your shield hp spikes up for a while, wouldn't it be beneficial to have something repairing armor at the same time? Or are modules where the armor repair would go too important to be replaced? Side note question: Why on most videos do you cover Local chat? As for my armchair suggestions: 1) Have you considered adding a "kill count" near the bottom right where it shows the kill mails being sent? I think it would add to your videos to include how many ships you kill during each engagement/video. 2) Have you ever had/considered a buddy flying a stealth bomber or battleship for some of the smaller engagements (like the 14 man one) so that he/she could snipe opponents? 3) Are there cloaking devices for capital ships? I wonder if there'd be any advantage to have a partner de-cloak after you've lured ships to a predetermined spot? Related: Have you considered teaming up with another corp buddy or someone you know to fly two of these ships (or maybe different fits to "cover different techs")? Anyway, I really enjoy watching!
@LaskerEmanuelEVE

I am very glad you are enjoying the videos! Mostly in EVE you want to tank your ship in either shield or armor (or hull). Ships have bonuses to one or another tank type, and when you spend slots on something like a resist mod, they generally apply to either armor or shield. Their are rare cases where it pays off to dual tank a ship, but they generally apply in certain odd situations. Side note Answer: In some cases their is chat going on that I prefer not to share (While I was in CVA I was in a number of leadership channels, sometimes things were said not for public consumption). I also need an area on the screen to put comments, and that part seems as good as any. 1. I have done a kill count a couple of times, the Moros video and one other I think. It looks great, but it's a bunch of work to setup since each line item is a separate artifact in the video editing software. Invariably I get them out of sync with the rest of the video and have to spend a bunch of time fixing them. You are right though, it looks great. 2. I have had friends join me from time to time, one of the problems is that while a Dread can hang out with 50 hostile subcaps on grid, not a lot else can (without a boatload of logi) and so you have to pick something that is not just going to get blaped. I have through it might be fun to have a gang with a couple of max range Jackdaws hang out with a HAW Dread, the Dread can tank the gang and the Jackdaws can stay alive because they can stay so far from the action. Maybe have a ceptor too to provide warp ins. 3. Capital ships can fit cloaking devices, but it reduces your scan res, which raises the already incredibly long lock time (and eats up a valuable utility high). Typically if you want to "surprise" people with more force you use a cyno rather than a cloak. The problem with that is a single HAW dread can't hold a gang on field, they only stay because they want to, so it does not make great bait. I tend to try to setup fights that my opponents want to take, and then try to play that fight well, rather than surprise them with more force than expected (which is also a common strategy)
Videos like this one really make me wish I was good with a weapon type that doesn't chug cap... I love me some space shot guns, but they are thirsty devils.
Are you US TZ and what times do you get on usually?
Nice fight, do you have the Battle Report with how many you killed?
GG
nice! I hope to get into stuff like that soon. I am amazed you did that with an empty clone. I would have thought that even a cheap-ish clone could have given you some significant boost?
@LaskerEmanuelEVE
6 жыл бұрын
Sadly crystal implants don't work with capital ships, so the most obvious candidate is out. If you have an empty pod, you can test roll drugs, and if you don't like the side effects you can pod yourself, do it again. Look forward to hearing about your first dread brawl.
@CaptBeefCake
6 жыл бұрын
ah, that makes a lot of sense with the empty pod then. Thanks for the reply.

So does that siege or bastion module repair shields and then you have to use cap to keep that thing fed? Just started out here.
@LaskerEmanuelEVE
3 жыл бұрын
The siege/bastion module locks you in place, so you can't move about or warp off, but it also gives a big bonus to local reps. The shield/armor repairer gives you more shield/armor, but consumes cap in the process, so you have a cap booster to keep it fed.

love it, would of sieged read before the end of that last siege cycle and deagressed with 1 min siege to go, you weren't able to kill much of what was ongrid and tank was running out, ya could of fought them other side of gate and forced them to take the gate guns, massively reducing their efficiency :P keep the vids coming bro :)

It takes a bunch of time, I have something between 2 and 3 thousand frigate fights in lowsec when I was trying to learn to not panic, manage mods, heat etc. When I first started doing HAW dreads I was much worse, you can build up over time and improve. I have never streamed, but it's on the list of things I want to try (although to be honest, I don't really have the mental cycles to spare to talk about the fight while it's happening, at least not yet).
Did you destroy more than you lost in isk? I dont really know the cost of things
@LaskerEmanuelEVE

I did not, this was a fun fight, but it was bad from an ISK efficiency standpoint, something like 1.2 killed to 4ish lost.
