    Like the others have pointed out I like how you start at a very simple PI setup. I have high skills but I haven't played in so many years that it's nice to learn it again. I don't know if I was a noob or if prices have changed but one of my planets is making a lot of isk and the other 2 are pure disaster zones. Launching yourself costs 15%. Where I put my planets previously the tax at least now is 20% so it's cheaper to launch. I wish I could pay 10% or 5% or something nice.

    10:20 You most probably got it by now (and I didn't see if it was already answered in the comments, I just scrolled a few). But just in case. The "Remote Sensing" skill is necessary to use the "Scan" feature when you are in "View Planetary Industry" mode. Each level allows you to scan planets in systems at a certain distance from where you are, measured in Light Years (not the number of jumps away). In don't know the size of the New Eden galaxy, nor it's density (star wise), but to put into perspective, the closest star to the Sun in our very own galaxy is Proxima Centauri, which is 4.24 light years away. So if such a thing existed in real life we would need level 5 of Remote Sensing to be able to scan the planet(s) around Proxima Centauri.

    Superb tutorial Dad (Dex). Really appreciated your opening comments and overall approach regarding other videos diving straight into maxed-out PI skill setups. I'll do the calculations at some point but do you think selling P2 or P3 products can be more profitable than selling P4 products due to the intricate and time-intensive processes it takes to manufacture P4s? I'm still relatively new to Eve so hopefully it's not too much of an ignorant question :)

    the Lightyear range relates to how far systems are away from each other. It's also relevant to how much fuel a capital uses when using it's jump drive. at least that was the case when i last played actively, currently trying ot get back into the game. You can check out dotlan's jump planner (navigation) for that and see how far away system are. I guess regarding PI it means from how far away you can enter planetay view.

    Remote sensing allows you to scan planets in different systems. The light years refer to system distance on the map. It can be useful if you're looking for the right planet to set up extraction on, but frankly it's a skill you can easily skip.

    Remote sensing relates to 2 things. 1: To be able to see the material compisition of planets in the PI tab in "agency". If a planet is too far away for your remote sensing level, you will not be able to see the amount of resources that planet holds until you get closer to it. 2: It relates to actual scanning of planets. If you cant see the material composition of a planet (due to low remote sensing) you will not be able to scan it either.

  • @wot-a-noob7257
    @wot-a-noob72573 жыл бұрын

    Hi Dad. The scan slider correlates directly to the "scan squares". The slider has a right side and a left side - i call them slider-MAX and slider-MIN. Noble metals shows only ONE square aka 10% max. material on the planet. That means that you have to put slider-min ALL the way to the left and slider-MAX at the first "notch" (10%) also all the way to the left. (difficult maybe as the two slider only can be compressed to about 1,5 - 2 notches. Dad, you had the slider-MAX on 3,5 notch and slider-MIN on 1,8 hence no material shows up. What i normally do, is put slider-min and slider-max close together and grab the middle of the scan slider dragging it all the way to the left. Sry for my english - BTW this is a very good video and you way of telling stuff is great. Keep it up.

Simply select your launchpad/storage and go to Routes, you should see the Incoming overflow here. Select that, then choose “Create new route” and send it to each BIF. All done!

    Just an FYI, but an AU (astronomical unit, distance from earth to the sun) is a real world unit of measure, not just an eve thing. So a lightyear is 63241.1 AU. Seems like in game this would be better represented as jumps tho.

    The Remote Sensing Skill is actually the basis on which the skills (Advanced &) Planetology work. If you have the skill on tier 5 you basically can find info on your planets from the whole galaxy and change the setup of the faciliteis on all your planets. The only drawback is that it will be less accurate the further away you are from those planets when it comes to your tier 0 resources. Your (advanced) planetology skills tiers will further enhance your resolution (the way you actually see your tier 0 resources as they are on the planet). Some resources will actually move over time over the planet and will eventually move out of reach of your extractors. A better resolution will help you find those movement faster so you can actually anticipate on it.

The same problem is then in the next step between storage and industry facility. I have in the storage facility 5,000 units and I send 3000 units in the industry (P1 production). 2000 units should remain in storage but not. The same goes for all the next steps. Where is the difference lost? Example: I got 11,000 units in stock. I had 3 active factories (P1) but only one got the raw material. The other two were left empty (out of material) !! ???

    Thanks for a really informative video, I have watched all 3 but keep coming back to this one, I setup my first PI site last night and I am trying to get my head around the routing/links. For some reason I could not get mine setup as you have done with a link/route from the "mine head" to the factory. So I sent the "mine head" output to the storage and then a 2 way to/from the storage and industry, that way industry pulls from storage the raw ore and pushed the finished material back to storage. Non of the links are over taxed, is this an OK way to do it or should I persevere and try and get your way working? Edit: Having just watched your Pt1 video for the 6th time I think the reason I can't created another route from the "mine head" is because there is no spare/excess material to route, does that sound right?

    @@daddex9222 The link was there already with 0% used, I could not add a route to it. It is working by using the storage as the distribution point so I will leave it as is until I finish production.

    @@ArcamStorm From what I can see you will need to have some excess material at the mine head, otherwise you cannot create another route. Even if the link is already there. Just started out with this myself and had similar issues

    Just recovered my EO accounts after 5 1/2 years away with a view to coming back. Happily 7 of my 8 mains appear to have 700-800 plex (assuming an offer went on to encourage me back after the plex system changed and alpha clones freeplay was introduced) couldn't work out why some of them had such high net worth with the ships and stuff they have lying around, watching this it twigged it could be they have pots of PI stuff lying around as well. Still trying to get to grips with all the changes, its just a pity so much of the game is locked away till I pull the trigger on omega. So much to relearn.

    You're doing it wrong. Route the exctractor to the storage unitz storage to factories and factories to launchpad. Uses less CPU and power and you have the storage unit as a buffer before the factories so it holds any excess materials until the factories are done with their cycle.
