I've met many celebrities in my career as a writer. So I was used to being around them. But I really was in awe of Eve Arden when I met her on the set of "Alice", a series I was a writer. She told me how in the film "Stage Door" when another actress would decline to say a humorous line, she volunteered to take that line. She told me she was fortunate to be able to have had many acting jobs, and her favorite was of course "Our Miss Brooks". ...Rowby

The applause was tepid considering the overwhelming talent and beauty of this comedienne. She could dish out a line with more p'zazz than almost anyone and her lines were dripping with good-humoured sarcasm. What a joy.

It's only "tepid" compared to the over-reaction of today, where everyone gets a standing ovation and a participation trophy just for showing up.

Eve Arden's facial expressions are absolutely hilarious and her horn sounding was truly funny! Eve Arden was one of the best gems of comedy. She is sorely missed to this day. RIP Eve, and I know you're giving Heaven some wonderful laughter. :)

9 years later someone is responding...yes she was Samantha's nurse toward the end of season 1 when Tabitha was born. She balled out Sabrina and Sabrina turned her into a frog, then she balled out Endora, I think it was for filling the room with flowers. It's free on Amazon Prime at the moment.

She was one of the greatest character actors in the 40's and 50's. She played beside some of the greatest actors/actresses in history not to mention many Academy Award winning films and there's a reason for that. What a great talent she is.

When Mr. Daly tells Ms. Arden to "sign in please" it is so evident that he really admires her; just observe his expressions! In other places on U-Tube, one can see her other talents, such as her dancing and her way of flipping a phrase to great comedic effect. She was one of the greats! I was very sad when she died; don't think that she ever quite got over her husband's death.

A rare talent and somewhat unorthodox legend: A character actress in films, a leading lady on television, but you'd know her immediately with the utterance of a single syllable; one of the most recognizable voices on TV and film. Essentially left her career to be a mother four times over, then bewitched a second generation of fans with things like "Grease" and "The Mothers-In-Law." Thank you so much.

She was also brilliant and funny in the famous Brown Derby episode of 'I Love Lucy' with Bill Holden. She was a much bigger TV star than people remember and was a great sidekick in the movies. Dorothy K, Miss Arlene, and Bennett Cerf were all good, but they were helped somewhat by a column that appeared every week in Variety in those days that reported on West Coast celebs flying east and vica versa. I'm sure they all knew who was in town from Hollywood that week. Still, they are good!

Eve Arden born (Eunice Mary Quedens) in Cali was a classic Hollywood actress that was pretty, charming and quick witted. If she was still alive to see what has happened to California, New York and Hollyweird she would be utterly sick. Many golden age actors would be aghast at the destruction of the golden state by liberals. Its nice to see old programs where people were charmingly entertaining without too much political bullshit.

Joan Crawford pitied Eve Arden when Ms. Arden started doing "Our Miss Brooks" and Crawford thought that Arden would be working for peanuts. Ms. Arden showed her the contract and there was no pity any more. That program ran from 1948 to 1957 on radio and 1952 to 1956 on television with a motion picture in 1956 and made Arden a wealthy woman...
