I can remember this. We were living in Kent, and saw the German planes flying over to drop bombs on London. At school we had long air raid shelters, where we went when the siren sounded.I ended up in a small village close to Huddersfield, Yorkshire. School was just one classroom room, with children of all ages, so you can imagine what the education was like. When we arrived, we stood in a line, and grownups picked you out. You wanted to be near your friends, but mine were miles away. The couple I went with, were very kind and looked after me. I was nine years old, and my parents sent me letters. Nowadays we have, the internet and mobile phones, and can send pictures, and text, and talk to friends across the world. My brother is in Canada, and we talk regularly, and I listen to his radio program, once a week. I could go on ,and on. If your school allows it, you could ask me questions, and I will do my best to answer.

There’s a KZread channel, that films interviews with people who lived through WW2, perhaps you’d like to do an interview with them? The channel is called “memoirs of WW2”, I HIGHLY recommend that you contact them, so you can share your story

What an 'upbeat' presentation of evacuation. For many it was a traumatic experience, ---one still felt today. But we survived: many didn't.
