    Info for Aussies: Bunnings sells floor mats with texture on one side. The Hero Studio and Lumin’s Cosplay Workshop sell untextured EVA in a variety of colours, sizes and thicknesses. (ie they are the Aussie versions of TnT cosplay supply). Craft foam can be bought from Lincraft in A3 size and Riot craft as well.

    hi, from the Philippines here. the Rubber sheets are EVA foam and Black linso. we get them in large mats (1.5 meters by 3 meters) and are available at shoe materials shops in a town called Marikina, here in Manila. i make costumes too, and i use 3 types of thickness: 2mm, 4mm, and 6mm for costumes. i also use 10mm sheets for props. it would cost P200 for a mat of 6mm (roughly $4). we use Cyanoacrylate Adhesive ( we call it "shoe glue" ) to stick pieces of rubber together. Your channel is very informative, and im saving up to buy some of your books too.

    regarding the LD40,LD33 foam the number is the density so higher the number the harder it is. my day job is making packaging and we get in sheet 1500 X 1000x 100mm you can get it in almost any color. we use bandsaws to cut it to any shape and CNC to do cut out for say a tool box. you can heat weld it with a hot air gun. company that sells it in the UK is called Ramfoam Limited. hope this helps. sorry for any spelling mistakes i am dyslexic.

    For anyone in Australia looking for foam: Bunnings has the thick floor mat sheets in the camping section, I can't remember the price of these ones! Reject Shop occasionally has large rolls of EVA which are slightly thinner than the floor mats near the garden pot isle for $25. The really thin craft foam you can find sheets of in the kids craft section of Spotlight for around $2 per pack. For upholstery foam, Clark Rubber sells heaps and often has large cutoffs for around $2-$10. Hopefully this helps any crafters around here~

    I never expected Bill to feature the Philippines and Rubber sheet. It was the last thing I expected and yet his last segment was about the PH and Rubber Sheet. Yes. I'm from the Philippines, Rubber Sheet is sorta like EVA foam, however it doesn't have the density like floor mats. But it functions the same way if you cut it with safety/cutter knives or heat it up with a heatgun. You can get Rubber Sheet in rolls in hardware stores. You'll just decide if you want a flat or textured side. Thank you Bill for your videos and tutorials. :D

I know you probably get blasted with "hey you should do xyz" So I won't do that I'll just say one cool/helpful thing I pick up on in your videos is using shop tools and build remnants to build things to help you in .. builds. The other day I took a square of foam as a base glued to a Long piece of hanger wire and added a clip. I use the heck outta that thing. I don't think you literally do that. But I've seen you do some similar things ;) And for sure that was inspired by your watching channel. Sorry this is an email, not a comment LOL Great as always

    Great video! I am totally ignorant on foam and I like to ask your assistance. I am looking for 2" thick sheets of dense foam (or rubber foam) to set electronic equipment on that will not give, either with or without adhesive backing. What type of foam would this be? Is this closed cell foam? I have seen it in black or gray in road cases such as Odyssey Road Cases. Reminds me of the exercise foam blocks. Now on Amazon I found something called NSI Minicell Foam but I can't tell if it is dense or squishy. Do you know about NSI Minicell foam? If so, could you educate me. Any assistance would be great. Also for folks in the UK/Europe - I only knew about Coscraft for the longest time (wonderful site, has wigs and thermoplastics and other goodies). They have sheets of XLPE +EVA Foam (basically, very thin but also very dense), which comes in 1, 2, and 3 mm increments. They also have something they just call Cosfoam, which is high density and comes in either 5 mm or 10 mm thicknesses, and costs extra to ship out of the UK because they come in big chunky sheets (and won't ship outside of Europe for the 2 x 1 m sheet) - I'm not certain of the specifics beyond that, however. Fortunately, the site has sample packs for £2 if you're unsure about them and don't want to spend an arm and a leg on ordering a huge slab of foam that you might not even like. Artyfakes/Poly-Props (I think they're the same people?) also offer £2 sample packs, by the way. Sorry for being a bit longwinded, but it's always been a nightmare to try find foam in the UK that isn't just regular, thin craft foam, so I thought it would be helpful info.

    Heya folks in the South East United States looking for foam! Hobby Lobby has Silly Winks/Playtime brand craft foam. 5mm thick 18x12in sheets for $1.27 in many colors, darker they go the more dense with blue and black being the densest. Best of luck yall!

    I'm not sure what the specific density is, I just know it's what I like from trying many different types of foam.

    @Punished Props Academy I’m making an armor cosplay out of Eva foam but can’t find any Eva foam of 1 inch thick the kind I need so I was wondering if I could use stacked foam and could u also give me some advice on when I sand the foam down and how it’s gonna leave the lines of the stacked foam so can u give me some advice on how I could cover those up?

    TNT Cosplay Supply has pretty thick foam, check them out! Otherwise, yes you totally can stack foam! The cleanliness of your seam is going to depend on how well you glue the pieces together. If you have a bit of a gap, you can use foam clay to close them up or Kwik Seal for much smaller gaps. Glue together your pieces first and then cut the whole thing down to size - you'll get a better edge that way.

    Heya Bill! Proptart checking in! I currently live in Japan, and everyone uses stuff called "Soft Board" or Riara Board (one brand name is Koyo Soft Board) or Lion Board (Old brand from what I hear is not available anymore but everyone still calls the stuff that). Comes in small sheets to big rolls in thicknesses of 1.5, 3, 5, and 10mm (i've heard of thicker but never encountered it or ordered any myself). If you'd like some samples I'd be happy to slide some your way!

    Can fiberglass be added to the foam, to create a durable shell? And ifso, which foam would you recommend?

  • @punishedprops

    @punishedprops

    You can certainly lay fiberglass on foam, you just have to be cautious of any warping that might result from weight or heat while the resin cures. I haven't personally tried putting fiberglass on foam, so I'm not sure which ones would work best for that method.

    i have a question : i am working on a puppet and i was thinking of making its skeleton ( to keep it in shape ) out of EVA foam what thickness would you advice or should i use something else for it ? it ends up being a full arm dragon puppet ( with some of the puppet going over the shoulder and on my back ) so i would make the part that goes on my back with eva foam rings to give the body a more permanent shape and will be covered by fur the part that goes over my arm will also have those rings but further apart / thinner so i can still bend my arm sorta like the one tiny badger made with the blinking eyes but then only on 1 arm

    I think foam would work great for that depending on how you structure it. If you do linked rings with supporting connectors, I think EVA foam would be a really successful option. Something close to 1/4" would probably work just fine. - Paige

    We've used a few different kind of paint, from simple acrylics to leather paints - it depends on what kind of finish you're looking for. A leather paint works great if you need the finish to be flexible, while acrylic works well for non-bending pieces, just as an example.

  • @punishedprops

    @punishedprops

    5 жыл бұрын

    That depends entirely on your body proportions and how you choose to make the armor. I'd always recommend making patterns with tape and paper and then laying them out to get an idea of how much materials you're going to need. The more you do this, the better you'll get at estimating how much you'll need and how much extra you'll want for mistakes or mishaps.
