Nice work! That's some very exciting news to get it moving in 1st and reverse!

20m25s to 20m41s:- the continuous/hold voltage for a solenoid fluid-valve is indeed often 5v dc (in industrial inkjet printers too), HOWEVER, to get the moveable (clicking) valve stem to move the necessary 1mm or so at the moment it is switched-on, the solenoid coil is frequently hit with about 12v DC briefly (for about a seconds) in order for the required magnetic flux necessary to begin sliding the valve stem, to be reached while the reluctance of the manetic-circuit is high (due to the initially poor magnetic properties of the 1mm air gap between the end of the magnetic valve stem and the rest of the magnetic "circuit" within the valve) . Great videos Damien !

i hope those 4 motor mounting bolts are just for bench testing :) doing good so far, this is being great to watch.

Great work … really shows the hard work required to make a standalone controller. How did this all work out? Don's suppose you have worked out the HF 8HP90 controller by any chance?

Good work. I would like to know how many watts the automatic transmission takes in all four(five-rear) gears. Cold and warm. Perhaps with some rpms..? Thx mathieu

Hi Damien, this is excellent! Do you have any more info posted anywhere on the Arduino side of the project?

Hi guys, isn't it easier with manual gearbox or atleast a dsg gearbox or connect the motor straight to the differential?

Tuck Tucker First posting ever. May as well make a complete fool of myself. I love your videos, the best of all I have seen. In America, 98% of the cars are Automatic Trans. Every kits, every conversion shop just turns you away. So this has been grand, really grand. So here is the stupid bit... why can't the electric motor spin at the minimum rpm to run the A/C, power steering, power brakes, heater, whatever... when the car is in Park or Neutral, does it really waste so much battery? And reset the A/T to shift up (far more quickly) to forth as wheels begin turning?

Did you ever get this completed? Nice work.

Damien, do you still have alink or remember where you bought this shield? It would be real handy for me to use as a "Body Controller" for things I'm adding like power windows, door locks, power mirrors, etc.. Thanks, DC

WOW.... Good day ive got a 6HP26 , id need to do this , what you did as a pioneer is amazing. plz reply with a link to your website for the source code .

Hi Damien, I think it's great what you're doing considering it's from scratch. I'm really interested in the transmission controller as I am in the middle of a similar project but with the original petrol engine. Is your aim to eventually have fully automatic operation of the transmission? Do have any more info posted anywhere on the Arduino side of the project?

The aim is to have it work in semi auto and full auto mode with programmable shift points etc. Will have a website up and running in a few weeks once I get it a bit further advanced.

Is there any way to get the code from you? I have a zf jaguar xj8 and I want to go to an independent ecu.

Pls my only question is thiz because this whole aduino stuff is scary.....can the follow come Brain box do this shifting and all...assuming we provide the original data needed it was using before....by original data I mean those data the gearbox got fro the numerous sensors...like changing only medium of rotation to the gearbox

Hi, do you sell this controller?

Damien, you're a genius! I'd love to help! I have a ZF 8HP70 transmission and I've been doing some research. I'm a software developer and I have experience with developing a bit of firmware. Can we knowledge share?? - I'd love to help you out; ultimately helping myself out at the same time :) :) :)
