Sure thing, I wanted to see someone with one before I bought it but nobody made a video at all. It lets you do access controlled charging. Kinda useless for my home install. But could make a QR code for my girlfriend or a guest in the house to try to separate charging usage

I want to know why did Ubiquiti go into this market to begin with? Not that I mind of course. I just can't wait for my Ubiquiti Shower head.

@@salemas5 they now have a WIFI model. More expensive but probably easier to adapt.

Does this integrate with automation platforms like IFTTT etc to provide charging with smart charging tarrifs like Octopus go in the UK?

Can you set up different users and track how much power each user uses? how many users? does it show a spread sheet of usage by user? looking for a unit to use at our 100 unit condo complex that allows each person to use but us to bill out user usage at the end of every year wo payment processing.

It's becoming all about branding in my opinion. It's a lot like Apple. Most iPhone users also have an iWatch, iPad, Mac, etc. UI already has the infrastructure in place and there are plenty of manufacturers in China that can build these chargers. Kinda seems like a logical step in the intra-connected office / home to me.

My JuiceBox 40 purchased 7 years ago is dying and I am well invested in the Unifi gear in my house. I just have to wonder why spend this much money on an EVSE when a new Juicebox would be half the price. It is rated up to 70 amps so there is that although our Chevy Bolt is only good for 32 amps and my installation is a 50 amp circuit.

Too bad they haven’t gone with NACS yet.

05:17 Thanks for the video. Maybe camera is used for QR code? Would be cool to find out more about these security options. What do they allow etc. I'd like a way to use this for a limited audience, like only guests at an AirBNB or authorized tenants in a building etc.

does the camera appear in Unifi Protect? to be able to record?

If the power goes out while charging or devices updates does it auto start charging again?

Awg. #6 is not large enough for 60amp circuit. Your charger is a ‘continuous use load’ this requires an oversize of the wire. You should use #4, and must be copper. Aluminum needs oversizing.

Do you know that you can record directly from iPad screen?

So that will not come to Europe then (at least not this exact model) because 3phase 400V and Type2 connector is the standard here for charging EV's. :(

Neat, so is there a way to set up a payment processor from what you can tell? If I wanted to install this and give people in the community the ability to charge at my business is there a way to easily pass the cost on?

Display looks great, but I can't see it lasting 10 years in an outdoor environment, all white plastics are going to look dirty real soon too.

This model is only ethernet. UI just released a WIFI unit.

Can you schedule charging? It didn’t seem possible from the connect UI

Unfortunately no, however depending on the EV you might be able todo it from that side. That’s how I do it with my model 3.

@@XboarderThanks! My EV doesn't support that unfortunately. Perhaps they'll add it later but given that it's EA, they may do that or they may discontinue the product.

@AnisKadri correction I was able to schedule charging. The UI for it is a bit weird. You setup events on a time schedule and could set the charger to open vs locked as a way to stop charging I believe. Still would need to test it but it’s a possibility potentially.

Just because you own an iPhone, do you need an iWatch or iPad or Mac? Not really. Same for PC. UI wants to become an intranet ultra-connected environment.

Insane consumer oriented packaging that's pretty wasteful, and why does a charger need a tablet screen and a backlight and updateable firmware? And remotely changeable breaker size? Why wouldn't that just be a physical jumper on it? They added this stuff because otherwise you'd own it and recognize there was no point in this insanity. A product for "environmentally conscious" consumers that will be obsolete or broken before it's carbon debt is ever paid off.
