Should a rolec not bee using a type A
Excellent video mate. Does the breaker have to be an rcbo tho?

Thank you for you feedback! All car chargers must be protected by a minimum type a RCD, this can either be a main RCD within the consumer unit protecting all circuits or in the form of an RCBO protecting the car charger only.

@@UniversalSkillsGroup I was under the understanding that you can use an mcb depending on what cable you use and how it's fitted, ie not in wall but but on wall.

@@gino2465 You must have RCD protection of at least Type A, this can either be at the consumer unit or within the device itself.

@@stevedebbiemoore appoligies I ment the supply to the charger, I suppose it could be an mcb as long as the cable is not imbeded in a wall or is an swa cable. Clipped to a wall.

@@gino2465 it must be protected by both, MCB for overload and short circuit and RCD for additional protection earth faults.

Do you have any UK courses for electrical vehicles
@UniversalSkillsGroup
Жыл бұрын
Hi, yes we do. If you follow this link it will take you to our website in which you can see our locations and dates. www.universalskillsgroup.co.uk/products/electrical-courses/electric-vehicle-ev-charging-course
If you are having to educate time served electricians how to do a basic calculation in such a 'Janet and John manner', then they really should not be undertaking the EV course. Any Level 2 learners can work out full on cable calculations with no trouble at all, and that's with taking into account any correction factors. Most would also then understand thermal constraints and calculating/verifying an impedance value for the circuit. An Ev course is for experienced qualified electricians that should have inspection and testing qualifications. If I had a learner that could not work out Ib or voltage drop for a circuit , they would be politely told that the course is not suitable for them.
