Euskotren train from Bilbao to San Sebastian / Donostia. A slow, affordable and scenic train ride

Euskotren is a local train operator in the Spanish Basque county. They do have a great train connection from San Sebastian / Donostia via Irun to Hendaye in France, I already covered this route in another video and there is a longer distance route between Bilbao and San Sebastian / Donostia. Between Bilbao and San Sebastian (Spanish name) / Donostia (Basque name) the train is absolutely not the fastest way to travel, however it's a really nice way and the route is really scenic (even though I had some rainy weather when I took this train). These trains do run on a narrow gauge railway line, in the North of Spain there is a huge network of narrow gauge railway lines. Even though the trains might look more like a metro than a train, the trains for longer distances do have a toilet on board.
In the video I check out the railway stations of Bilbao, the main railway station, the FEVE station, this is for the other narrow gauge trains and the Euskotren railway station that's close to the other railway stations, of course we check the trains & some views from the train.

Thanks for the Video, Thats a good price to travel from Bilbao to San Sebastion, I did the San Sebastian to Hendaye route after seeing your vid on that and it was about 2.50 euro each way. The new Hendaye station is finished and right next to the TGV station, thanks keep the good vids going

Hi, small comment regarding the map with different track gauges you use, the Cartagena - Los Nietos metre gauge line does not show and neither do the metre gauge and standard gauge lines radiation out of Barcelona. Love your videos, greetings from Namibia

Glad to know that bikes are permitted OK this train. Are bikes allowed on the high speed lines?

Bikes ar not allowed om the high-speed trains. On MD (or sometimes mentioned as IR) trains they are allowed if you reserve and you can only reserve on the pot. Bikes in trains and Spain don't go well together.

It gives the impression that Renfe is phasing out the FEVE brand, but it's absolutely not adopted consequently at all. Many trains are still in FEVE colours, train stations idem, even many ticket machines still give tickets with the old logo, at least, that was the case when I went their late November, less than 2 months ago. I get that it takes some time to overhaul an entire business (unit), but still, especially the paper tickets with FEVE branding stuck with me, if you make the effort to change a name, getting rid of the old paper stock seems a small cost compared to the rest. I'm also very unconviced with the name itself, Cercanias AM? As you said it, not all trains operated are cercanias trains, and naming them Cercanias AM Media Distancia... ugh. Why not Renfe AM, if need be?
