I kept hearing how he’s a great vocalist but I dont think his voice is strong. He also sounds shouty or off-key at certain points. Also I expected the final third to be very dramatic and from what I have seen to date, it’s not dramatic at all.

@@AW-EV-and-FTM In 2020 there was no ESC, so everything got pushed to 2021. That year was still a covid year & had MASSIVE restrictions. Ahoy Rotterdam was a Nightingale hospital just a few weeks before ESC. Even with those restrictions, they managed to break-even. So when we as a country do get to host a _proper_ party, i imagine it's gonna be LARGE & LOUD!

Ok I know you like Joost and I’ve been breaking my brain trying to think of what the actual staging is gonna be like, so I’d like to share my theory. On the screen behind Joost you see 2 silhouettes, presumably Joost his parents. It looks like there’s a path going up with animation Joost running up/to the silhouettes. His TikTok’s and an interview with Dutch tv show a lot of Joost running away; “Ben aan het vluchten van mezelf/im running from myself”. He’s also mentioned that this will be the end of an era for him and he’s done feeling sad all the time about his parents dying still. I think it will symbolize him running away from his pain all his life, even to other countries, and the Eurovision performance will be the closure and end of the chapter, time to move on kinda thing? I’m at least pretty sure big bird won’t be in the actual show and is just Joost fucking with everyone lol. There’s TikTok’s about the bird being missing and about shooting him like in angry birds. Anywayssss can’t wait for tomorrow and next week 😭❤️

They didn't even use all the pictures in the rehearsal because they didn't want to leak what they had. I want to see what Joost does.

I was really looking forward to the Norway's pictures, absolutely stunning ! I do wish they kept some of the green instead of making it all ice blue, or maybe there is and they're just not in these pictures. I can really feel the hype now, next week's thursday last 2 songs will be BLASTING !

According to his wiki page, Dons is an eager athlete/fitness aficionado. The abs on his bodysuit could very well be a replica of his real ones? This is, after all, the year of topless handsome men. I like Georgia's costumes. They look really nice, not just an excuse to show skin. Love Gate, I have great expectations for them. Her vocals are iincredible.

Estonia and The Netherlands ❤ I love them. I have started to listen to both Joosts and 5miinust music and they are so good. I have to google translate everything but the vibe gets trough. I really hope Estonia pulls trough.

Would love Georgia to qualify and get momentum to eventually win in the near future. Tbilisi would be an iconic host city

2024... an amazing Eurovision year! So open for the qualifications... I don't think I could choose one sure non-qualifier. So open for the win in the final... seriously, several very good acts that would deserve a win. It's going to be so fun to watch the three evenings!🥰

I can't get over the decision to make Mustii stand in the mic ring but then have him hold the mic he is singing with instead of putting it into one of the mic stands That ruins the entire emersion of that setup and makes it look so cheap. I was never the biggest fan of the song but I never really doubted that it wouldnt qualify. But I'm not so sure about that now

I really want Norway to do well this year. I love the entry and it might influence other Scandinavian countries to sing in their native language and show us more about their culture.

Everything about Belgium’s staging is wrong. It needs to be dark. It doesn’t match the song at all, Musti looks like he could be a dancer for a Nadine Coyle gig in the George. Who dressed him. It’s actually upsetting. I hate being this negative but it’s just so upsetting when a genuinely top class song’s chances are hurt by incompetent staging.

i think the bottom part of norways prop looks naked at some points but the liveblog said there was smoke to cover for that in the last of the three runthrough so i assume it will be covered in smoke and the whole staging will look more natural that way

The most fun part of the qualifying announcements, when a shock is annoucned and you need to work out which of the 10 predicted is out 😭

I don't hate any of the songs per se, I think I just have dance-break fatigue at this point, and basically if a song has hair-tossing and a dance break, it's not getting my votes.

That moon landing bit is taken out of context: they said the performance would impress people LIKE the moon landing did, they never said they would actually DO a moon landing.

I have to disagree with you on the on-screen graphics for Norway, Tom. For me, in MGP that was a part of why I didn't like it at all - that they cut into Norwegian nature which didn't feel natural. They have the LED background now, and I hope they keep it at that and use that instead to give that feel - it'll be less forced imho. For me, the song does nothing, but if they have dropped the on-screen graphics then this is an upgrade I'm happy with from MGP

I believe Latvia unfortunately can't afford to send few more Dons for the stage, but I also have the impression, that more drama needs to happen on the stage. Excited for todays rehersal! Will cross fingers for Dons.

Really nervous for Belgium :( I dont understand why they went this route, they should have gone the music video route. Very happy for Norway tho, they slay

Firstly this is incredibly condescending just because he disagreed with you and secondly mustii vocals were not great. All YOU heard were the backing vocals but if you really listen you hear his weaker vocals below 😉

I've listened to all songs about the same amount. I could not tell you how Azerbaijan, Georgia, or San Marino's songs go.

Tom: Belgium was pretty decent, I don't know why everyone on Twitter destroyed the song. Then proceeds to destroy the song for 4 minutes 🤣 I love it! Hopefully we get some more honesty like this in the reviews. Everyone seems to be too uptight to say anything bad about any song.

Tom, you know I love your videos but I don’t know, this year Eurovision just feels so FLAT. There has been hardly any coverage here in the UK so far and I don’t think even the BBC has done a podcast like they did last year. I think it essentially comes down to our entry, he just doesn’t seem very likable and the song, despite all its hype, is majorly average.. It’s a shame, the UK needed a bit of a boost after last year! Oh well, there’s always 2025.

But if you cannot deliver criticism when it's due, it's not good. Yes, talking about NL here. Even if you actually do like the song, whatever he showed here is lame enough that he dropped from 14% to 8% within two days. I mean… if I was a KZreadr I wouldn’t feel comfortable spending lots of time discussing the musical performance of a country which has murdered more than 13,000 children in a few months (according to UNICEF)

YES! I found it kind of underwhelming before but it is absolutely GORGEOUS now! I'm still not crazy about the song, but it does elevate it a lot, this brilliant staging.
