Taro leaves or Laing with coconut milk, hot chili, ginger and many more additions were from Polynesians and Hindu origins. Kilawin was from Tagalog-Malay.

@@Jprager Lumpia is not an egg roll. There are 2 types of lumpia: lumpiang sariwa (veggies wrapped in fresh lumpia wrapper) topped with sweet sauce; and lumpiang shanghai (what they call spring roll) with fillings (could be fish, chicken, meat or veggies) and it is fried.

@@Jprager the lumpia wrapper is made of flour, water and salt. No egg ingredient in the wrapper. I forgot, there's another variant of lumpia which is the lumpiang turon, it's a Filipino desert which the fillings could be sweetened monggo or banana, coated with lumpia wrapper fried in brown sugar.

Why do they waste their time with food from the third world while there are tons and tons are real great dishes in Europe? Filipino food is great but only for Filipinos cuz they're born in this country and they don't know any better.

Cuisines? lollll I'm not sure if the term cuisine is suitable for Filipino food. The food I saw in this country was unhealthy and disgusting. If you call this some ''cuisine'' they will think you are sarcastic. All the decent and good dishes I ate there were all westerner. I'm sure there are few decent Filipino restaurants in this pirate island of philippines but you will need to take a damn long walk before finding one. So no, I don't imagine people from civilized countries eating Filipino food unless they lost a bet.

Filipino food is a cuisine and while some of the foods are quite high in salt, there are healthy alternatives, such as kare-kare which is oxtail with peanut sauce not to mention there's balut which is duck embryo. Get off your high horse and your face out of your ass. Stop being disrespectful to a cuisine that you may not have tried. Sucks to be you but I would gladly have Filipino food everyday. 😛 By the way, Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmerman like Filipino food and they think that it's the next food trend. Plenty of people from around the world tried and many of them like it especially sisig. Too bad you're not going to apperciate the juicy taste of pork liver and various parts of the pig. Too bad you'll never have the taste of chicken intestines which is delicious. Oh well, more for me.

You are right, the Philippines is not so bad than that. After all there is an airport that allows a certain percentage of lucky Filipinos to get the hell out of this shit hole of balut. When they're not too lucky they go in places like the middle east or China. Some have more chance and get some visas to go in America, Europe or Australia. When the plane is landing they can finally feel proud to be Filipino and boost about the great virtues this wonderful country.

Sorry for being an asshole ( anyways I have nothing against anyone personally. I just hope one day the Philippines and the mentalities will improve for real. Not with a genocide). Try to guess where I felt the most pride in the Philippines. It was not at the church nor in Filipino restaurants, street food counters, gov. office etc etc... The place I felt the most pride in the Philippines was in a stupid and boring Starbucks coffee shop. For us Starbucks is dumb and boring but not for Filipinos. In this country being in Starbucks coffee holding a big size beverage with the magestic Logo of SB Café on it is a huge sing of prestige. You can see all the Filipinos taking pictures of themselves with huge smiles holding this amazing beverage and uploading them on Facebook:
