Solid state is NOWHERE... It has at least 10 years of R&D and mass manufacturing ahead...
There doesn't seem to be a day that goes by that there isn't a New Battery Tech with double the KW/per kilo gets some press . One of them will crack it but the one that can make it cheaply will win.
I think you got it wrong when you said faster charging is less strain on the grid actually it’s the opposite the faster the charge the bigger Kw charger you need the more strain on the grid

Any research being done with Aluminium? Aluminium with three free electrons versus Lithium's single free electron would make an even denser battery. I have heard Alcoa in the past was experimenting with Aluminum Air batteries but lately it seems to have been shoved to the side. Enough Aluminium for batteries is also available to just about every country on the planet in the form of discarded, recyclable Aluminium foil and is recyclable forever.
"Solid-state batteries have more 'oomph' when you put your foot down." I don't think that is a concern with EVs in general since they already have more than enough torque to instantaneously launch you into a wall if you accidentally tap the accelerator instead of brakes. EV manufacturers should quit padding torque figures, too much unnecessary torque is dangerous for everyday driving. "Faster charging means less strain on the grid." Huh... if you want to charge twice as fast, you need at least twice as much power after adding increased losses, which more than doubles strain on the grid. The best conventional batteries are already hitting 350+kW fast-charging range, we're already at 150+mi in 10min without SSBs. The infrastructure for 500+kW fast-charging will be ludicrously expensive for what few people will actually be able to take advantage of it in the foreseeable future. SSBs that can charge even faster do you little good when the infrastructure to make that happen probably isn't economically viable.
