Europa Clipper Moves Into JPL’s Space Simulator
Ғылым және технология
A timelapse video shows engineers and technicians moving NASA’s Europa Clipper spacecraft into the 85-foot-tall Space Simulator at the agency’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California. The spacecraft underwent thermal vacuum testing in the chamber in February 2024 and passed with flying colors.
Europa Clipper is set to launch in October 2024 from Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
When the spacecraft is in JPL’s clean room, viewers also can watch a 24-hour live feed of the spacecraft at: bit.ly/clippercam
For more information on the mission go to: europa.nasa.gov/.
Built in 1961, the Space Simulator is designed for environmental testing of robotic spacecraft in simulated interplanetary conditions of extreme cold, high vacuum, and intense solar radiation. The chamber is a stainless steel cylindrical vessel with a diameter of 25 feet and a height of 85 feet. A 15-by-25-foot door provides access for loading spacecraft.

Oh man, all those months watching these magnificent people build this magnificent piece of technology, and it's now actually being tested! GO Europa!
Amazing work!!! Bravo JPL!!! 👍
Truly amazing! Looking forward to seeing this great scientific instrument launch!
I'm so excited to see it launch. Keep up the great work, NASA 🎉
Interesting that it was placed in horizontal position
Tank you ❤ Amazing
Thank you.
My name is up ton that spacecraft!
Great news!

Hello I Clipper! Nice to see they’re taking care of you 😂 Are you guys still dressing up for COVID-19? LOL. What do you mean you work like that every day? You have to go in your chem suit every day to go to work. Hmmm, that doesn’t sound very fun. 😅 I like dirty maintenance where you don’t have to dress up in suits. On the other hand, you don’t have PMIs to do for cleaning, because it’s never been dirty to begin with 🎉. What is that a pressure test chamber or a microwave for satellites so you can warm them up before you eat them? It would’ve been cooler if you put it in there and open the door and it was gone because it teleported to space. 😂. It looks like one of the 60s toys where you would put that person in the tube and spin it around so that it would be hidden on the backside. 😅. I’m being funny while I’m talking to the people that are taking care of things that no one ever notices normally. I’m trying to keep them motivated by actually paying attention to what they’re doing.

@@Lobster.Mob.It's still crazy to me that some people never heard of face masks before COVID and now think they're a COVID-specific thing.
Why are you called the jet propulsion laboratory when I never see you working on jets? LOL

@@cspahn3221 No I don’t understand most of what they do that’s why they’re engineers and I’m a technician : ). I glue their stuff back together again when it breaks. I don’t know how it works. I just try to make it work again. LOL. I’m retired Air Force. You can settle down everybody. : ). I’m out here here joking around.

Why didn't you use a search engine to look up the definition of a jet?

P.S. Book things up? Ever think about doing a spell check? Bet you can find the correct spellings of words...using a search engine.

Yes, you never see flags or nationalistic pride, on display in other countries, around the globe...
