Euro NCAP Crash & Safety Tests of VW Passat 2024

Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
▶ a frontal impact test where 50% of the width of the car strikes an oncoming deformable barrier, travelling at 50 km/h
▶ a frontal impact test where the car impacts a full-width rigid barrier
▶ a side impact test where a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
▶ a pole test where the car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole and the robustness of the centre airbag is evaluated
▶ a whiplash test performed on a sled.
A series of pedestrian tests are also conducted with different impactors : adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form. As well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests. In 2023 a test scenario for Cyclist Dooring Prevention was introduced.
Active safety is rated based on the performance of the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking car-to-car and car-to-motorcycle scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders, fatigue, distraction and impairment), lane support and speed assistance technologies.

    the music helps with the views, and the crash sounds are loud enough to where you can hear it, it's not that big of a deal

    @@crestas9 no, it’s not. Arms and legs can easily get ripped off in the a multiple rollover case. Door opening is a penalty according to Euro NCAP protocols but you can never be sure as it’s a Volkswagen and they have history in cheating 😬

    It opened due to the extreme metal twisting. If it didn’t, then there would be more intrusion to the rear passenger compartment.

    @@H.K_R it shouldn’t open during crash, pal. I don’t care about extreme metal twisting. Even back in 2002, Laguna II was penalized for door opening. Doors being able to open after crash is one thing, during crash is another.

    It is not open, it just remains in line with the new structure. The positive is the rear door panel stays intact.

    SHOULD HAVE A TEST FOR FIELD OF VIEW. HOW MUCH OF THE 360 DEGREES AROUND YOU CAN YOU SEE FROM MAIN DRIVING SEAT WITH ADJUSTED MIRROR.
