Oh I love that patterned carpet in the kitchen.
Why don't vacuum cleaners look like this anymore? 😕

Why aren't most vacuum cleaners now made to be easily repairable, even by the end consumer - and not just another (largely plastic/polymer-based) throwaway appliance made in a foreign country for as little cost as possible to the producer, without regard to extending product life cycle or its post-primary function impact? As someone who not only is a lifelong student of design history, but majored in Industrial Design in the closing years of the last century, that's always been a major source of irritation - and why I likely did not venture into the realm of a practicing product designer, since so much about sustainability is still just talk and so little action.

Because many vacuum cleaners of today are mostly made out of cheap plastic materials since the manufacturers want to save money.

Manufacturers are now overseas and will make them cheap and we pay more for them. I currently own a eureka esp and dont plan on getting rid of it. Plus the older units outperforms these throw away.

Many do, you're just not looking in the right place
The Model 2042 Type D featured in this television advertisement was the midline trim model of the arctic blue base Cordaway Rugulator models 2085 and 2095 (chrome hood) and the Cord Hook Rugulator Model 2079. Thanks for posting.

You're welcome. Thanks for the info.
That gold shag carpet looks like what my parents had in our house.
0:09 0:24 its just something about that motor sound and the light and metal that used to come standard in basically every 1950-1980’s upright vacuum just gives me nostalgia
Back when vacuum cleaners were made out of METAL CONSTRUCTION. NOT PLASTIC!

Vacuums don't have to be metal to be sturdy, my 07 Eureka C2094 is made of a tough plastic and outcleans everything else I own, and it will definitely last longer too.
It isn't Irving. 🙂

You certainly may be right. The VO reminded me of George S. Irving and I did a voice comparison. Some lines sound very much like him, and some don't at all. I suppose I'll remove the info that it "may be" him. ;)
