Damn brother you are just not catching a break! Little acro crash and now flat worms! At least they don’t directly kill corals but damn if they don’t multiply first. Flatworm exit is the bomb. I dose once and done and that was years ago. I had some bigger ones living in the head of a nice torch as well. Watching one of them squirt out of the head to this day gives me the creeps. There are some nasty nightmare inducing shit in the ocean that’s for sure! Love the vids keep ‘em coming man, so cool to see a notification that you have dropped a new video. I know it’s a pain sometimes to make but definitely worth every min spent.

i got rid of these pretty quick with my yellow coris wrasse, but i also was very vigilant about dipping as well as scraping/removing eggs every 4-5 days. Mine went after torches, frogspawns, hammers, and octospawns.

You chose the perfect name for your channel so when things like this happen, it's the perfect failsafe! lol

Doesn't he have a melanurus wrasse? I thought that would eat shrimp

I've had these target torch coral exclusively, eating the flesh where it meets the skeleton and laying eggs as they did it. That white "dot" in the middle of an otherwise translucent body is what seems to ID these blighted things. Full round of dipping for all torches with a scrub of the skeleton with a soft brush. I tried Flatworm Exit, it definitely put a dent in the population but I'd rather go to basically anything else. Sixline and Melanarus probably helped, but I would wanted to try a blue velvet nudibranch which eats flatworms EXCLUSIVELY. Harlequin shrimp are to asterina what Blue Velvet are to flatworms, pros and cons. That said, that's a LOT of flatworms, that your torch heads were not completely pissed is a very good sign.

You gotta make sure you scrape off the eggs as well, if not you gotta dip it probably like 2-3 weeks in a row. I would probably dip the hammers and frogspawn as well, although not as common the polyclad will eat those too

Just some friendly advice. I noticed that you were using the same hand to remove the torches from DP and placing in dip, might wanna use both hands to avoid getting the dip into your DP. Awesome video.

Both my hammers are sulking for no apparent reason. Time for a dip!

I just got rid of all my corals and now Iam STRESS FREE at least from that hobby, did it for 30 years.

Usually just a fresh water dip and the flat worms drop right off very surprising

Have you ever tried lanthan to get rid of flat worms? It’s usually used to reduce phosphate very precisely, but flat worms seem to react very sensitive to even a pretty low dosage if you don’t want to reduce Phosphat significantly. I’ve got rid of a large population with have of the recommended dosage after dosing it once.

You may have seen it Polo's Reef visited someone in a video who blew flatworms of his corals with RODI water. Just saying :p Tank looks very nice ! Curieus about the Asterina solution ...

Interesting, a few people mentioned RODI water as well, I will give that a try, esp if it could be not as stressful to the corals. Although, I'd prob still want to bring the Torches out to dip, since I am not confident that my wrasse is touching these ones.

Yes sir, I quickly figured out what those were and made sure I scraped them all off as I spot them!

YES they do eat zoas for sure👍🏼

It may have been easier to use flat warm exit. I had an issue with flat worms but they weren’t euphyllia eating flat worms. I think they were just regular ugly flat worms and I used flat worm exit for six weeks to make sure all eggs as they hatched were killed also. Did not need to remove any of the Coral‘s from the tank. Just put the flat worm exit in the tank.

Where did you buy the frag rock the house the TORCHES?

I lost a few hammers to those guys sneaky little fellas

Shouldn’t you make a separate batch instead of dipping in the same solution with dying flatworms over and over again. Good to wear those gloves.

You're right, I probably should have after that second session with all those flatworms fell off of that colony -- thanks for the heads up on this, I'll keep this in mind. The subsequent sessions did not yield much, if at all, so I felt it may be OK to reuse in those cases? (just a guess though)

what is the incubation period of the eggs?

can coral be dipped in freshwater, as long as temp and pH is close to their saltwater? it would definitely kill any saltwater organisms due to osmotic shock, or at least really get their attention

Does revive also work?

where did you get the rock work for the torches ? it’s so cool how you still have them on the plug and you just pull them out the rock

Haven’t watched the video yet but Melanarus wrasse are by far the best worm / flat worm eaters I’ve come across over the last 20 years of reed keeping.

The main structure is the Ecotech Radion's RSM hanging mount. The AI Blade mounts came from AI, it's their prototypes I believe and screws right into the Radion's screw holes.

I just dipped my hg torch yesterday and removed properly about 100+ eggs on the skeleton, this thing is horrible😅

I did not since from what I read, Flat Worm Exit does not work with PolyClad

How long did it take for your "jonny bravo" colony to grow out? I have had a hammer for 4 months now and it still looks the same as the day i brought it

Better water flow. I've had a 2 headed hammer coral for 2 years and it never grew, but I didn't mind. I added another power head to my tank to get rid of some dead spots and it happened to be pointed towards my hammer. Less than a year and it got taller and grew 3 more heads. My SPS really kicked off as well.

That particular Torch grew from frag to this (I fragged off about 6 heads in the span) in about 1.5 years. It did take awhile for the frag to get comfortable and start growing; the growth does get exponentially faster as you have more heads to split at the same time. One thing I may try to do if I want to coax a coral to grow faster is to target feed them consistently (but don't over do it!)

Usually just super glue gel of all brands, and set quickly with Instaset. for larger pieces I double it up with underwater epoxy for structural support

a toothbrush to go over the skeleton would get those off that dont fall off...
