The sport is filled with fans just looking to win arguments. They’re simply jumping fanbases and barking at each other. I am not a big fan of isreal, but still thought he’d carefully edge out a decision, but jan simply was better and fought a very good fight. Jan just covered his weaknesses and timed isreal, if izzy wasn’t moving away from those check hooks he’d have got koed. Even in a fight he lost, he actually looked impressive as far as his technique goes, and he’s still a hard fight for all of those top middle weights. But jan was just that good as an mma fighter. And size and reach did matter. one more thing, a lot of fans were actually annoying with how much better isreal is in striking and speculating that he can even win striking exchanges with Stipe(for god’s sake!), those kind of arguments get under people’s skin, plus the confident bordering on arrogant persona turns a lot of people off. So they won’t need much to criticise, for me he did alright against a monster in jan, he actually edged out first two rounds as it was expected, but the power slowly made him fade.

People talk about the takedowns, but this is what got Jan the win. What I don't understand is how Izzy didn't make the read on Jan's head movement. He dipped straight back every time he'd throw a 1-2. He could've followed up for a 3-4 and gotten a finish like Weidman vs Silva. I think he was just scared to commit to that and get punished for it, since he's naturally a counter puncher. I also feel like he just couldn't find his range for some reason. Maybe he was just *that* worried about being countered. But he missed a shocking amount of open shots just because he was slightly out of range, even mid/late rounds.

I agree, as a wrestler I think Israel's wrestling has improved a lot over the years but if he wants to compete with Jon Jones he should maybe train with guy's who take wrestling a little more seriously. I know City Kick Boxing is their name and they have wrestling but I'm not sure there are any great wrestling sparring partners for Israel. @@ThatCasualZach That sort of contradicts your other point because DC was the more experienced wrestler. However DC was taken down for like a second and DC also slammed Jones in that fight. Although I will admit from a pure wrestling technicality Jones did take down DC and the way DC slammed Jones wasn't a take down but from an MMA stand point you are comparing a slip with DC lifting a guy over his head. This is why Israel should train with DC because Israel's a competitor and he'll get sick of DC ragdolling him. By the way Gus also took down DC in a similar way. DC's a great wrestler but he is so good he gets a little relaxed on his defense. The one difference was he took down Gus in the 2nd round to even that up although he had trouble taking down Gus for most of that fight.

@@ernestmilos7320 Because the average light heavyweight is walking around at 220. And they cut weight. You know like every fighter does. And it was a good fight. Izzy's game plan of coming in lighter backfired and he couldn't get off the ground in the 4th and 5th. I'd like to see him actually put on some weight and give it another shot. But he would have to leave his more natural weight class behind to do that. Izzy even said himself 3 days before the fight he could still make 185 if he needed to.
