It's a really good campaign for learning how to manage AE while blobbing
As a newish EU4 player I really learn a lot of things from you dude! Keep going.
I literally was just watching your previous guide for Naples and you uploaded that :)
Love the more high level guides for playing various nations, but I'd like to see some more in-depth guides on stuff like how you win individual wars, economy stuff (we always see you getting burgher loans but never paying them back), trade mechanics, and more insight into why you make decisions.
naples is probably my favorite nation to play, the map color is a nice bonus too
The first war made me think of a neat trick I've picked up from Chewyshoot, if you take so much land in a "first" war that some nations go from 0 to >50 and thus might form a coalition, try to end the war 31th december(or as close to the last day as possible) as then the aggression will immediately will tick down and then they might be below 50 and not able to join a coalition. If they already have some aggression but the war pushes them above 50 then rather wait for the new year to come and sign the peace the 1st of January. Also, it might also help to tweak your Improved Relations(advisor, merchant) for this tick as it might be crucial. I must admit I forget and thus have to take one less province or something like that.
Love your videos, keep learning useful stuff. A guide I'd like would be one of the African powers. Either Morocco/Tunis in the North African Coast, Kongo, Kilwa, or somebody in the Horn of Africa.
@highwind6325

He's doing kilwa next for a to z, im excited for that!!
I like how, every week since some months, when I decide to do a new run with a country, you did a guide the same week. Lol ! Btw, thanks for your videos !
Love your vids, I always learn a lot from them. Could you make a guide on how to manage the navy? Like, what the correct way to invade an oversea country is, and how to protect your transports, and how many of what ships you should have etc. I tried playing Portugal recently, and I keep failing at things, because I just don't know how ships actually work.
@landynstella5977
Жыл бұрын
okay so go into your military tab and check your naval engagement width build as many heavies as you can (unless you are stacking galley buffs.) and fill the rest with galleys. try not to place too many ships in a navy over engagement width as they will still take morale damage. (if you are playing outside of coasts or the med use light ships instead of galleys.) make sure your transports are in a separate fleet. scout your route with your combat navy to find a route and then send both together. if you want more in depth detail on navies i.e. targeting choices damage etc. just ask
If your truce with Aragon runs out before the first event, you can potentially get Castile, Ottomans, the French to support your independence and have very powerful allies at the start of the game. Plus get your cores back from Aragon very early

Just did that in a game and then my nation was too large to join the HRE, so that strategy has it's pros and cons, I just went for Tunis and conquered north africa whilst waiting for the Shadow Kingdoms event to kick the rest of italy out of HRE. So it's totaly doable but not as easy as just waiting for Aragon to give you the boot :D

Naples is one of my favorite nations, when i first got the game, Naples was really fun. not dealing with otto early is a huge mistake.
22:50 when taking provinces from Tunis/Morocco, maybe you should take one of Tlemcen's cores and then release it to reconquer the rest of cores later
Wouldn't it be better to go with Espionage first temporarily for the 20% minus to AE in addition to investing points into being the Curia Controller? You can stack 50% AE reduction pretty early that way(and some RNG with the Curia unfortunately), which should allow players to expand relatively fast in Italy. Ofc you swap out Espionage later, you just want the 20% AE reduction.

11:26 You needed the fort in Messina because devastation was sky high. Though technically you would want the fort in Palermo to get rid of devastation until Tunis is dealt with. Otherwise their raids will accumlate more devastation than you can get rid of without a fort or developing.
Out of the big 4 in Italy Naples is probably my favorite, although I never tried Milan, only played Naples, Florence and Venice
I personally recommend declaring war for your independence, over waiting. You can almost always get some large countries (Castile, Austria, France, sometimes England) to support you, and you can retake your cores on sicily, and sardinia. This means that you can then conquer all of Italy without ever having to fight an iberian again.

How about a Dithmarshen guide, it's a really interesting nation honestly
I can definitely appreciate these guides because despite the fact that I don't have any dlcs so I can't do things like upgrading centers of trade, establishing trade companies or communities, or currying favors to break alliances, I can still approach these nations I've ever played with something relatively similar. I wanted to play Naples for a long time but shied away from it because I can't ask other countries to support my independence and thought the ai would always just choose to keep Naples (supposedly its rare but it happens quite a lot for me). Now I know I can just bide my time and see if the ai chooses to let me go (worst case, I'll just break free with console commands but would rather not use them).

Always loved Naples, for games in Italy it's always a toss-up between them and Florence.
FYI begging for cores back doesn't work on subjects. You'd have to wait until Castile formed Spain to get anything from Aragon that way.
With a bit of luck, you can PU aragon within a few years (which I managed to do, but can't remember how exactly)
If you're gonna do a second war with Aragón for vassal cores anyways, I recommend taking your cores + a single province from Sardinia, Catalonia, the Baleares (Majorca releasable) and Valencia in the first war. If the Iberian Wedding doesn't trigger then you end up with the same land for less AE. If it *does* trigger you can hopefully ally Castile/Spain and use favours to get literally every single province Aragón owned except the Aragón state itself.
@benry007
Жыл бұрын
You could even annex and one of them and re-release as Aragon, then start asking for the rest of Aragons cores. Though it would take a very long time.
Such different runs we had... Posthumous' daddy died early so Austria lost the emperorship and Aragon got PU'd by France a year after I got released, had to wait for the Shadow Kingdom and am slowly building up favours with Aragon to ask for my cores...
This would've made a good releasable video as well. Annexing your former overlord, blobing in Italy and then probably dying to the Ottomans or something. Great job as always

Is it possible to get burgundy inheritence with naples, is it a valid strategy? Or is it difficult with being allied with austria and france
I prefer to take Quality, Religious, Admin, Diplo for Naples. Going for additional siege ability and the ability to convert is doubly useful if you want to have an actually religiously unified realm. On top of that, being in the HRE can really, REALLY limit your governing capacity a lot. So even if you just go into the areas you mentioned in the video you will rub up against the cap quite often. IMO, you're rich enough to never - need - any money making ideas just for their ability to make money, plus you can hire up +discipline mercs if you start to run low on manpower. Innovative can also be surprisingly useful for Naples, since they're well placed to get radical reforms, humiliates, and spawn Renaissance. Still, that's just my preference. The only thing I'd suggest you got "wrong" was not emphasizing attacking the Ottomans earlier. They become horribly annoying if you leave them alone for too long, so it's worth jumping on them with Austria and possibly Burgundy if you can. Just wait for them to attack Venice and then declare your own war!
Seize land even if not all estates are at the right %. When u need it take it.
It would be interesting to see someone outside Europe again, Bengal maybe or Oirats in style of the Manchu guide. Still very nice guide for people who want to play in Italy and be aggressive in their expansion

Why only one province at a time for conquest? I mean I get the colation management stuff, but for example the secound florence war, there is no reason to not fully annex them, there is no ae inefficency and there is no colation. Also if you think that AE is the most important part (wich I agree on) than there is no reason to neglet money and war reps just to get shorter truces. I understand that you dont open another ae theartre for example in tunnis early game, because its still a beginners guide and it could be a hard war, but your expansion is still slower than it could be.

Why do you insist on workshops in high value trade goods? Workshops only boost the production income you get so it should really just be how much money you will get from the province. They make no difference to the amount of trade income that province makes. The only benefit high value trade goods have for the work shop is that any increases to dip development or making a workshop will give a greater increase in the income the workshop gives. But even a grain province can give a worthwhile income boost from a workshop.
