Hi Jeff, I just made my first Etsy POD sale. Yay... but... I was surprised about how Etsy calculated shipping and in turn lost $6 on the sale! The customer bought 2 different items in one purchase - each item had a different shipping profile attached. Printify charged $19.98 ($9.99 per item - because they were coming from different providers) however Etsy only charged $13.98. I thought by having different shipping profiles, Etsy would calculate shipping according to those however they based shipping on the total cart - putting the primary shipping price on one item and the additional item shipping price on the second item instead of putting the primary shipping price on both. I reached out to Etsy support and they basically said that's how they calculate it and their only option was to set both primary and additional item prices the same. I would like for customers to have a reduced shipping price for buying multiple items within one shipping profile (from the same vendor)... I would love to hear your recommendation. Thank you so much!

I don't know if anyone else has had this but Etsy keeps changing the delivery times to 7-18 days for each country in my Delivery profile (an imported profile from Printful). I'm talking to support about it atm as it's a massive pain as I'm having to reset it manually several times a day.

Hi Joe, great video and explanations. I have a question, I got just my first sale today, a customer bought my product and pay the shipping cost that I integrated from Printify to Esty. I don't really have to print the shipping label, Printify does it for me, so is that shipping cost going to go back to my Etsy profit or it's going to Printify to pay for the shipping? I'm really confused about this shipping stuff, when I go on to Printify to fulfill the order, I have to pay another shipping cost. I don't understand why have to pay for the shipping twice since the shipping payment was made by the customer on Etsy already. Hope you can answer me, thanks

  • @PODinsights

Congrats on your first sale! The shipping charge in your shipping profile on Etsy is included in what the customer paid. The total amount of the sale (product + shipping) minus Etsy fees will be in your Etsy seller account. You will pay Printify the total fulfillment cost, including shipping. Etsy does not keep the amount charged for shipping - they just take a fee out of it as part of the transaction. So you will not pay for shipping twice - just one time to Printify. I hope that helps!

Hi, you create great materials that explain a lot. I'm just starting out and have a question. If I want to sell both clothing and items like mugs, stickers, and canvas prints in my Etsy shop, is that a good idea? It seems that each option will have its own separate shipment because it will be made by a different company in the case of Printify. Should I include this information in the terms and conditions or under the product description that different items are made in factories located in different places and may arrive separately? Thanks for your answer

  • @PODinsights

Hi! I believe selling a few different products in your store is a great idea. There are may designs that will sell on more than one product, so you can increase your sales by offering the same design on 2-3 products. But you are correct, with Printify it's common to have different products fulfilled by different print providers, which are shipped separately to the customer if they buy multiple items. I would suggest indicating in your listing descriptions that if they buy more than one type of item, it may arrive in separate shipments. You don't need to give a detailed explanation, just make them aware. You will also have to upload additional tracking numbers manually after the first one, because Printify only automates the first tracking number. I made a video about that actually if you want to check it out: kzread.info/dash/bejne/haV8x7mghra1hps.html

Love your vids!! Is there a way to have one listing, but with different print providers in different countries, thereby making the shipping cost lower and delivery quicker? (E.g. UK orders fulfilled by UK print provider, US by US providers, but in one listing and depending on where the search is conducted from, the customer sees the listing applicable to them). Thanks!

Hi! Yes, there is a way to do this but unfortunately Etsy doesn't make it super easy. There are a few options and I covered each of them in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d3-Gk7SwermTqLQ.html In that video, options #2-4 are the ones that will result in getting the order fulfilled domestically when possible. You will just need to adjust your shipping profiles to reflect the proper shipping times and price of course. 1. Printify auto-routing (will route to a domestic print provider if available - not my favorite option but it can work) 2. Manually changing the print provider for each order as they come in (what I do) 3. Creating duplicate listings with domestic print providers in countries where you want to sell (the only way to make the listing appear as actually coming from the customers' country, but lots of work) Hope that helps!

Any idea how to solve that? Thx in advance.

Hi! In your shipping profile, there is an amount for the first item and then an amount for each additional item. If the customer adds multiple of the same product to their cart, the additional item price will be added for each additional item over 1. If you want to reduce that rate, you can change the additional item amount in the shipping profile. Just make sure that it will still cover your shipping cost if multiple items are ordered.

Hi, great video, thank you. Just a quick question - How does pricing work when you are selling in another country? In your UK example do you need to change the US pricing in printify to reflect the pricing in pounds or will printify automatically convert the US pricing to the different currency? Hope that makes sense. I want to ensure I avoid accidentally underselling my item and having to pay the gap (loss).

  • @PODinsights

Hi! Etsy will automatically display your product prices in the currency that the customer is set to view based on their location. For example if the customer is viewing from a location where the Etsy site defaults to Euros, your listings will automatically display pricing in Euros. You will not be charged currency conversion fees as long as your shop currency matches your payment account currency - usually it does by default unless you manually changed it. For example, my shop currency and payment account currency are both USD, so even when I sell to customers in other countries, I'm not charged currency conversion fees - Etsy handles the conversion on the customer's end basically. But if I set my shop currency to Euros and my payment account currency is still USD, then Etsy would charge me to convert all my sales from Euros to USD. So as long as your shop currency and payment account currency are set to the same, you should be fine. The only other thing to watch out for is VAT when selling in other countries. If you're based in the US like me then you'll be charged VAT on your order fulfillment because we're not registered businesses in other countries, and it's not quite as simple to get a VAT exemption in other countries compared to the simple tax exemption for resale in the US. The way I account for that is by adding to my shipping charge for other countries. I just add $2-4 to my shipping charge for countries where I will be charged VAT so it doesn't cut into profits. I walk through my strategy for this in my shipping strategy video if you want to check it out: kzread.info/dash/bejne/jJ9_qNanmqqTfrQ.html

@@PODinsights Thanks so much that was super helpful, appreciate it. It's great that etsy will convert to the relevant currency when the customer is viewing the listing. What about the printify price that gets pulled through on a new listing? As it's in US currency it seemed to pull through the same price amount into my currency. I'm thinking I may have to alter the price in printify so it pulls through the equivalent pricing in my currency to start with?

I know my question is not related to this video but plzzz ans when I publish listing from printify it doesn't push the printify mockups to my Etsy store I don't know what is problem with the setting .I listed many items it was all fine .but now when I check Etsy it's all blank in the listing image section or just one mockup sometimes I always chose 4 colors but I get one pic out of 10 or sometimes 0. I want this so that I can remember which listing is this when I put my own mockups +I want to use their mockups sometimes like for mugs or hoodies Plzzz respond

Hi! I'm not sure if this is the same issue, but recently I've noticed Printify publishing has been much slower than usual. When I publish a new listing, it will show up in Etsy without any photos at first, but if I wait a few minutes and refresh my listings page, the photos will eventually show up. If you edit and publish changes on the listing before that happens, the photos will not come through. So I think the best thing to do is to wait and refresh the page a few times until you see the photos before making your final updates.

Hi there! Quick question on a point you mentioned at the end. So a person could click on the "ship to" option (e.g. a customer in the UK/you've set up a local shipping profile for this country) and your listing would appear although ur living in the US. The problem is I find people would be more intuitively inclined to filter by "shop location" as I assume most people would believe this is what impacts the shipping. So then you don't appear at all? Cause your shop location is in the U.S and you cannot actually change that? Any suggestions to deal with this? Thank you!

Hi! You basically have 4 fulfillment/shipping choices when it comes to adding additional countries: 1. Keep the same print provider in the US and allow them to ship orders internationally. Add the additional country to your shipping profiles and set your shipping price for that country based on the international shipping cost from your US provider. Customers in the additional country will see the US as the origin country and estimated delivery times (and actual delivery times) will be longer. This option is the least amount of work for you, but won't be the best experience for UK customers due to longer shipping times and higher shipping prices. 2. Manually change the print provider for orders that come in from the UK. Select a print provider in the UK that you plan to use for UK orders. Add the UK to your shipping profiles, using the shipping cost and delivery time estimate from the UK print provider that you plan to use. When orders come in from the UK, manually edit the order to switch the print provider to the UK. You will need to create a separate draft of the product in your Printify account with the UK provider to do this - but you can wait until the order comes in to do it. Customers in the UK will still see the US as the origin country, but in reality their delivery times will be much faster and they will pay a more reasonable shipping price since you based it on the UK print provider. This is more work for you, but a better experience for customers in the UK. 3. Instead of manually editing orders for the UK, use Printify's automatic order routing feature. When an order from the UK comes through, Printify will automatically route the order to a UK print provider who has the same product available. You still will have to add the UK to your shipping profiles and base the price and delivery times off an estimated UK print provider, and the customer will see the US as the origin country. This is a little bit less work for you, however the downside is that you won't know which provider Printify is going to route the order to. If there is no UK provider with the product in stock currently, it will be fulfilled in the US (which I personally don't love). 4. Duplicate listings that you want to sell in the UK, but use a UK print provider to create the listing and use a separate shipping profile that has the UK as the origin country. You don't need to do this for every product that you create, only ones you really think will appeal to the UK market. For example, you wouldn't have to bother doing this if you have some "July 4th" designs for the US. You may also have some designs that only appeal to the UK market, so you could publish them only with a UK print provider and not offer them in the US. This method is again more work for you, but gives your products the best chance of selling in each marketplace due to the origin country showing as domestic vs. international.

@@PODinsights Thank you so much for this in depth explanation - I'd like to go with option 4. So for each item I want to sell to the UK I have to duplicate the listing on Printify and pull this through to Etsy as a new listing, to do this on Printify, using the duplicate copy I have to replace the USA print provider with a UK print provider, this changes the prices, when I get to syncing all options are greyed out apart from Mock Ups, not sure what to do at this point ? I selected the new UK shipping, carried on and published but the new listing on Etsy has removed my Mock Ups and only showing 1 Printify Mock Up on Etsy store, any idea what I'm doing wrong ??

Great Information, Thanks. One question. If I have one shipping profile for T-Shirts and it is based on Monster Digital to Print and Fulfil as my preferred market is USA (I’m based in UK). If SHIPPING EVERYWHERE ELSE is for example $12 and a customer in Canada buys, and I have order routing on with a max $2.00 for the same product. When the order is placed by that customer in Canada would it bypass Monster Digital and go to the print and fulfilment company in Canada and then they ship as an internal shipping cost (Canada) and that is 7$. Would I make $5 profit on the original shipping cost as the customer has paid for the$12 shipping cost? Or would they see $12 + $7 shipping because their IP address or what ever sees they are in Canada? Thanks.

Hello. At 9:20 you say you do free shipping in the US, so you add the 4 dollars in your product's price. But what about the cost of additional items, which is not fixed and changes depending on how many products the customer buys? How do you calculate and add that amount to every multiple products order? Because those are also shipping costs and you're going to pay for it from you pocket if you don't include that, right? I'm trying to figure out that golden standard for my products too, because some shipping costs are way too high and i have to bring them down a bit.

Hi! If you are going to offer free shipping on your listing, then you would build your shipping cost into the price of the product. There really is no "free" shipping, it's just how it's presented to the customer.

Hi! That was not my actual cost for shipping, it's what I think customers will find reasonable. As long as you are getting the total price (product + shipping) that you need for your desired profit, you can set your product and shipping prices to any amount that gets you there. I place more of the cost into the product price and reduce the shipping price to prevent customers from abandoning their cart when they see a higher shipping charge.
