    What are your thoughts on doing a video about your deck-building process? Not exactly everything step by step, but in general high-level terms, say a viewer wants to try to make a deck of their own, what are some things they should keep in mind? What components (again in high level, generalized terms) should a deck contain? When you've built a generalized skeleton of a deck and you're test piloting it before refinement, when do you decide that a deck needs certain changes vs conceding that some weaknesses must be permissible because it can't defend perfectly against everything?

    I always recommend swimstream (Swim in KZread), the best deckbuilder I've seen talking about this topic. Even the videos were uploaded from years ago. Basically the idea is to make synergy between cards, think a little about where is going to be the power spike of the deck, do some math and thinking about the cards so you know how much copies you need... You can build a deck around one card or synergies from other cards that will join others. Normally the deck types are aggro, control, combo and midrange. Sometimes "value" decks can also work but it will depend on the game, winning with the huge value that some decks create. When you have all this in mind, then you can make some problem-solving, making little changes to counter the meta. The best deckbuilders just by theorycrafting they got very close to the final version of the deck. I hope it helps you.

    Hello, I just wanted to say that I started playing again thanks to you. I stopped playing MTG as F2P around the same time Runeterra was released, and after a few years, I quit entirely. Snap didn't interest me, so I thought my time with card games was over. If you're looking for ideas on how to attract new players, I'd recommend rotation-proof content. With my limited resources, I can't afford to build most of the decks showcased, and when I do decide to invest, it's an "all in" situation, making it pointless to build something where half the cards won't be playable in standard. (PS: A rotation-proof BLACK+GREEN control deck would be great)

I don't think most people watching can afford to craft them all... but they can make the ones they like the most! Despite it's flaws, MTG is a game worth investing into IMO.

    In comparison to other CCG i find the draft mode very generous and a lot to my taste by chance, i would suggest diving into it as a new player if you haven't. It also has the bonus to help discovering the cards and mechanics. My collection is growing almost exclusively of of it i never buy packs and i'm very happy with the rythm it is expending at (still in comparison to other cards games, cause yeah comparison put aside it is still a bit slow to my taste)

    @@DangerZoneeee That's good suggestion! The fact you get decent amount of cards just for starting is very nice. What particular Draft Mode you would suggest, Quick Draft or Premier Draft? The latter is twice as expensive but its rewards seem very nice, only needing 5 wins for another try (or 4 if you have 100 gems to spare).

  • @roy4173

    @roy4173

    19 күн бұрын

    @@antongrigoryev6381 you do need 4 wins or more before premier outpaces quick draft. But if you can maintain that 4 wins+, you'll expand your collection faster this way. If you're just starting out, I would strongly recommend quick draft first though. If you're going completely free to play, it is also way more sustainable than premier draft. There are also other factors to consider beyond the cost though. The convenience of time (given that quick draft uses bots for the drafting portion), you can draft and pause as needed. A more regular rotation of sets (you'll not get a chance to pick up cards from older sets in premier drafts, QD will rotate older sets every couple of weeks). But if you want wild cards and sheer bulk number of booster packs, you enjoy drafting with other human players, and you have a pretty solid grasp of drafting, then premier is where it's at.

    Would love a continuation video for the Starter Guide. That video was great for getting first decks, but how to go from that point? With so many cards, I get quite a decision paralysis, it's hard to decide on what to build and how. And just grabbing an already-created deck from you or somewhere else isn't simple too, as it seems most good decks run a shitton of rares. Like the yesterday's deck, I kinda liked it and wanted to craft it, but it requires almost 30 rares! Even after replacing all the Rare dual-color lands with common ones I still would have to spend almost all my Rare wildcards if I were to craft that deck.

Since he's already on the field, when you flip it he doesn't get any oil counters... does that mean that it can't make you lose the game, because you can't remove an oil counter, or would it make you lose the game at the start of next turn, since the second part of the ability verifies that it doesn't have any counters left?

    I have a question for you Mog, what are your thoughts on the alchemy format? I know you are doing a standard only focus, but since you play a lot of online games and you enjoy (good) balance patches, I would have thought that it would be a format you would enjoy more (I am still a newbie in MTG, so idk how good or bad the balancing is in alchemy, I just play standard for the time being)

  • @adamgalloy9371

    @adamgalloy9371

    20 күн бұрын

    Alchemy just doesn't tend to have as large (or competitive) a playerbase. For the most part, it's simply because Magic is also a paper game and so the community (especially the competitive community) tends to prefer Standard which is consistent across both play-styles and has existed far longer. A lot of enfranchised players saw Alchemy as kind of pointless when it was introduced since it was very close to Standard, and felt it created an unnecessary rift in the community between paper and digital players. I believe Standard also has the deeper card pool (3 years worth of sets vs. Alchemy's 2 years) which some players may prefer, but that's a relatively recent change to Standard. TBH I've played very little Alchemy for largely these reasons. I got into the game through paper and Alchemy just never felt like it offered any reason for me to check it out (especially since Standard is really good right now). That said, there is nothing necessarily "wrong" with it to my knowledge and if anyone has given it a serious try I'm curious what they think of it. Another thing that really soured Magic players to Alchemy is that the Alchemy balance patches affected the non-rotating Historic format making cards that were perfectly balanced in that higher power format suddenly unplayable with no refund offered. Hope that was a somewhat helpful response.
