People keep calling it PET, but since they're overlooking the bay I think Baywatch is way funnier. And Cub can join the ranks, too.

I feel like once all the hermits have contributed, Iskall should take all the blocks down and rebuild the best design he can come up with using those blocks so we can see if it’s the block choices or the building choices that make it so bad.

Or atleast identify the list of materials chosen and build a his attempt next to this existing monument. Personally the best way to salvage this build would be to build a museum around it, dedicated to it. This way it becomes a modern art piece and his neighbors don't have to see the eyesore.

I think you are thinking of his season 7 base: The Monstrosity which was a floating interior, very maze like, and 80% of it felt like you were outside. His season 9 base was barely started, he had the dolphin's grace platform, his enderchest storage system, the fever dream shulker searcher storage system, a staircase, and 1 interior housing a tree farm. I would have loved to see these bases get finished, atleast to the degree that etho actually finishes a build. (He loves to always leave expansion connection points, probably a result of the mancave's influence on his building style. It does mean he never has to move out, as he can always make more space.)

Yeah, he specifically said that he wanted to try something different this season, since his modus operandi is to build the interior first, which can end up like his Monstrosity in season 7 if he doesn’t have the time to finish.

21:32 the mod you guys were talking about was called "Witchery". it isn't updated anymore (obviously), but there is a spiritual successor to it called "Bewitchment", and it ported alot of the old stuff and added some new things too!

The hermit ruin: after all the hermits (or Iskall) are done with the house, take cobweb and vines and stuf and make it overgrown. Then the random blocks looks like a ruin, juist like the hermits RUINed your plan for a beautiful base... lol

I'm really enjoying those chill mini episodes centered around a specific interaction. This building is starting to look more and more like Impulse's shop from S8 "iSoar", it was indeed quite the eye sore.

ok iskall, to try and fix it you play the add and subtract game. have the hermits come by again and give them a certain number of moves. Every block removed is a move and every block placed is a move and the goal is to make it look as good as possible before they leave. have a chest nearby for the blocks tat dont get placed back in so other hermits could use those.

lol i think wels took your horse. In a stream Ren told Wels that the brown horse with spots was unclaimed and that wels could take.

Take each block and name it after a Hermit, keep going until all blocks are done. Then each block must be incorporated into your main base in a way so that you see the block and the name appears when you hover over it.

Ok honestly I don't know how long you can keep up this behind the scenes stuff, but this is really entertaining to watch. This stuff really humanizes the hermits. These are also nice to listen to while I am working

Awesome video! I've enjoyed seeing BTS Etho on vault hunters, and it's fun to see his chats here too. One suggestion though: The picking blocks for him seemed a little too forced and controlling, if you do that too often you might be to blame for part of the build! Instead of this, I think another layer of randomness using player statistics and / or block position in the closest chest could be fun. If the player had to work using their "fifth most crafted" block and the "fifth block type in the nearest chest", that could be nicely random, and still personalised to the Hermit. Having a few extra random numbers and statistics like this to have 4 random block types, and then having the player choose the quantity of each, up to another random number, would work well. Adding a "wildcard" block type of their choice could be cool too.

I hate streams, with all the constant interaction with chat and shout-outs and things. But this, I loved. This is exactly like watching a stream *without* all the random chat BS. I stayed away from these when you first uploaded them, but honestly they've been the best parts of the season so far. No editing, no "audience", just existing. I love it.

I believe they're actually talking about the Cursed Earth from Extra Utilities, as Iskall mentions Extra Utilities explicitly at 21:24 and Etho mentions a ritual associated with it right after that (which would be using the Division Sigil). Though he did also say "it's like the Thaumcraft stuff" @ 21:17. So Iskall was probably also thinking of the taint.

Idea: make a list of all the blocks that hermits used to build your house and build a better house around it and the og house inside it as bedroom. ofc it has to look weird like abstract art.

Etho Starts a Raid, Iskall lives anyway. XD

Once it is built you can get hermits over to move 20 block each and see if they can improve it

Thaumcraft had Tainted Soil and Extra Utilities has Cursed Earth, the second of which I think is the one you're talking about. Also, that house definitely follows Von Sway, maybe even more so than Guude's house.

A cool way you could of had more control of it was to set up multiple chest with 64 blocks that you had selected in each. With every hermit getting to pick a "mystery chest" to build there part with.

Colorful! Like a blanket fort with grandma's multi-color patch quilts, or crochet square blankets everyone over a certain age has in their closets for guests. ❤ it's cool though since it's like patchwork 🙃

I just wanted to say a big thank you to you for letting us see these moments. Funny as hell and very uplifting.

Next step of the process. Snapshot this as a memory, then do a transformative process with other hermits who didn’t yet participate and see if the blocks chosen can be rearranged into something mildly more aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Or you can challenge your neighbors to rebuild it using the same blocks chosen by everyone else.

Maybe having the hermits pick a shape of any kind i.e: polygons, squares, stars...etc. it could be 2-d or 3-d and they choose their own palette. Might bring a more structured design to the build while still looking abstract. Great start to this season.

I love the hilarity of these interactions. Idea to immortilize this beautiful disaster: Surround it by a thick crop of trees with a singular archway entrance, charge diamond admissions to see the "Side Show of Doom"

I feel like one of the problems was the hermits didn't know they were going to have to be making a building with the blocks they chose. So some of them might have thought they'd get extra points in whatever this mystery project was if they picked a more creative selection of blocks. As opposed to some standard building blocks that looked good together. (That's what I would have assumed for sure.) I say a problem, but only if your goal is a decent looking build. Really it made the whole thing ten times funnier when they ended up having to build with things like raw copper, diamond ore, and a random ladder. This build has made me laugh way harder than I have in a long time as it steadily got worse and worse as more people added to it.

Don't know if hermitcraft behind the scenes is a new thing, but I'm really enjoying these. Just Skallman interactions without the need to "be content". More hermits should do this.

if you need dispensers doc made a dispenser farm, so 4 stacks of dispensers isnt really THAT bad anymore

Preface: I love Iskall's house and the content, lots of LOLs :) I think this activity could be restructured... iskall could pick the block pallette and provide the building materials and THEN go ask hermits to build what they feel and THEN you have 12+ hermits building your house for you 😅

You should make more of these collab builds, like Have 4 hermits arrive with a couple of blocks, and they together make a build pallet, either one by one with those blocks. You then get a stack of two of each block, then grab more hermits to put different build parts in, or to use x blocks from the pallet. Leave these experiments all over the place too. Like, inside of somebody's big pit of mined stuff, or the mining desert

TBF he could get a builder to rearrange all the blocks the hermits had put down. Try fixing that thing using all the blocks would be the true challenge.

I think the block you two were talking about was cursed earth from extra utilities. That spawned mobs rapidly. As far as I am aware skulk doesn't change mob spawns but does store xp.

this is the fricking CONTENT. this makes me feel like being on the server with my friends. its perfect.

Ethos base is looking very von sway already

Hello iskall, I have a few ideas that I think may improve on the "27 hermits 1 base" project. The first idea is a modification to what you are already doing but with new rules and stipulations. 1. The hermits pick 64 placeables* instead. 2. All blocks have to generally be placed on and around the designated build area. 3. They may break up to 16 blocks placed by another player on the condition that they place the broken blocks elsewhere. Some other things you can do is ask the hermits to pick items that might go good together or that all blocks they place need to be physically connected in some way. Another idea I had I call "Find my Place". The way this one works is you make one or more piles of different materials, similar to the diamond pile in S7 but not diamonds. Then, the players will mine a certain amount of blocks (they can also craft with them if they want). Lastly, they will build a base in a certain build area using what they mind. I think the idea that hermits coming together to build one project would be pretty awesome, but I think a few rules are needed to make it feel like a purposeful collage instead of a dumpster fire.

To do the 4 stacks of dispensers, it’s not difficult if you use the crafter (and it’s not difficult to set up) and you can just filter in the bows from your chests

Yeah... Ethos never getting his dispensers....

I really want to see this house completed, just bring all the hermits over and have fun with the build

@21:21 what was it? Altarcraft or something? 😂 I just watched Etho’s old modded series and it always scared the crap out of him. I’m surprised he didn’t remember it. Also-if you’re looking for a fun game idea: get a # of chests with all the same building items inside. Drop a nether portal in various areas with the chest located inside a chunk-each hermit has to build with all the same materials in ‘the most creative way: topic’ in the random chunk in each nether portal “door”. 😊
