    Thank you for showing us the Tigray region of Ethiopia in 1970. You can see the Beta Israel men in the village as blacksmiths & ax. Weavers. Those jobs were traditionally done only by the Beta Israel back in the day for hundreds of years after they lost their land in the 1600's.

    To me Ethiopia signifies the border between life and death, it's such an arid location, i'm happy and grateful my ancestors past by it and kept walking towards a better life in Europe.

    Ethiopia is in the Bible. Queen of Sheba was from Ethiopia. I hope this site is really old.

    "Ethiopia" was a term used back in the day in reference to the lands south of Egypt...

    I wonder why they did all that digging. Seems it would have been easier to dig out some rock, carve it into blocks, and build on the surface. The churches are amazing, though.

    Joe Polchlopek the history of lalibela is a biblical story in which angels built the church overnight. no actual person worked on the structure from my knowledge
