His dynasty was pro slavery. Ethiopia only outlawed slavery after pressure from the British. Not to mention Ethiopia was a large source of slaves to Turkey, The Arab world, Persia , India ect.

The African does not honor his own history and will always replace it with the West version. If if Haile Selassie turned out to be bad for the people in the end, it was nor reason to end the monarchy. They could have kicked off the throne and put in constitution that made the throne symbolic like in the UK
