I just found this guy, "Destiny," or "Stephen," as the one women who debated him kept calling him to annoy him...but goddamn is it nice to find a guy who just has common sense. I've thought I was progressive...until they lost their fucking minds. I guess I'm liberal, but I can see the flaws in their ideology. I don't get why we have to hate our own country or this self flagellation for decrying America and just handing the right the mantle of being "Patriots." Fuck, I'm not even wording that well, but Destiny articulates his thoughts in a manner in which I agree about 95% of the time. And I love the people who mock him for his private lifestyle. That's just losing the debate RIGHT there. Also, only seen his Wife from his videos, but she seems like a sweetheart and it's incredible how much she is attacked for being close to Destiny.

I have a question without taking sides: Is it beneficial to consider historical context in political controversies, like Ukraine, Palestine, or Taiwan? For instance, in the case of Ukraine, some argue that despite Russia's aggression, the conflict could lead to long-term benefits. Ukraine's struggle with corruption and internal political conflicts could be addressed, potentially paving the way for democracy and stronger ties with NATO. However, it's important to question whether we should exclude moral arguments based on history from these discussions. Moreover, I believe empathy is often lacking in destiny's consideration of historical facts. What are your thoughts on this?

As an American living in Taiwan, hearing Hasan say that Taiwan is currently “One Country, Two Systems” is absurd. This is wording that comes directly from the agreement between Hong Kong and China that went into effect in 1997. “One Country, Two Systems” is the exact thing that China is calling for, and Taiwanese people outright reject, as they have seen the length to which the CCP respects the whole “Two systems” part of that. Taiwan and China are not one country, and Ethan is exactly correct in almost all of this. Almost no one here wants anything to do with China. And when Chinese people fly into Taiwan, guess which line they fall into: citizen or foreigner?

The Ukraine invasion really exposed the cracks in Hasan's logic and reasoning for me personally. I have been increasingly unimpressed by his political takes since then. If he wants to continue to be taken seriously as non-robotic political commentator, he really needs to start deconstructing his views and start doing the work. Even though there's certainly some unnecessary vitriol from Destiny's side towards him, I totally agree with Destiny's point that Hasan is pretty much just a mouthpiece for modern American progressivism and he will do anything it takes to not alienate those people.

But then do everything possible to avoid criticizing China. I am on the Left, but I recognize that any political ideology can be taken too far, and it drives me crazy when radical Leftists like Hasan give conservatives all the ammo they need to connect anything we do to trying to implement communism. And Americans still didn't, even after France, Norway, Yugoslavia, Greece, North Africa, and an attempt to invade GB! It was actually Germany who declared war, or better say, the crazy painter by himself without consulting anyone! Roosevelt couldn't be "happier" since the public really didn't want to get involved. So most likely, without Japan and Hitler, America would wait a little longer before getting fully involved, and once they did, it was just a matter of time before the allies got the upper hand! About the holocaust, despite Jewish organizations being vocal about the persecution, it had little effect, so little that ships with Jewish refugees were sent back and denied entry! Yeah, not much love for them! Even with all the footage from camps, filmed with the purpose so no one would be able to deny it happened, you still have large groups that are denying or diminished the numbers...I don't know about you, but I would definitely want a place to call home, without having to wait for a prophet! And here we are now.. a new mess, with everyone screaming and no one talking (or forgetting they did talk, lol)

A lot of Hong Kongers fled Mainland China in the Cultural Revolution, or were sent to live with family in HK because of 1 child policy, so psychologically there's a huge difference. Legally, after the English gave HK back to china in 1997, part of the terms of the handover was that there would be a Special Administrrative Region of One Country, Two Systems. In 2019, China reneged on that with the introduction of National Security Law which is left wildly vague and can be used to disappear any dissenting voice as China sees fit. This caused 6 months of steady, violent protests in the city until COVID hit in January 2020 and everything was silenced. China had full control. In 2014, there were other protests over the lack of democracy because China was choosing the candidates for the public to vote on aka. not 1country, 2 systems and the leader appointed would purely be a Beijing puppet and was. You can't even have a map showing taiwan as a separate country in a classroom without breaching NSL. Sute you can "go to Hong Kong" but China has completely changed the city. There's no freedom or democracy and that is devastating.
