I'm enjoying a freshly tuned piano and the freedom of a casual live performance here, with lots of improvisation and messing around. This is probably my favorite livestream from the pandemic days, so I really wanted to share it with my KZread community.

Very sweet! As I've come to understand, after decades on the saxophone: you don't play music; music plays you.
I love listening to Ethan while I read a book. His take on the original music is just beautiful. Thanks for all,of your postings.

The actual "live" livestream was from Facebook a few months back. I'm thinking I'll livestream from KZread one of these days.

Thanks so much! Something I love so much about the old masters is that each had their own personal touch.

Thanks for listening , Stanley! Besides all the practice hours, I think a big part of it has to do with how much I've listened to the old records. Not just the piano parts, but the vocal melodies, the horn solos etc...really internalizing all the phrasing, which helps it flow out naturally . BTW, I recently came across these Little Brother Montgomery transcriptions by Kristian Olsen, which are great! They're based on the recordings and slightly from my own versions, which was flattering. Give them a look! www.kristianolsen.org/piano

@@EthanLeinwand Thank you for kindly sending me your comprehensive answer, especially K Olsen site, previously unknown to me, much appreciated. You remember my ability is limited to playing off the page! So this site is most helpful and will be giving them full attention! Watching you play is like seeing someone with a 7th “sense!” Ability so far beyond my own, its a marvel to see and hear! See you in the UK one day!! Back to the piano now!
Also a remarkably nice guy to talk to, if you’re lucky enough to meet him.
