Exactly, its not a joke to wish death on someone, no matter the delivery, if you truly do wish death on the person. When you look at the pattern of monthly h3 suspensions for hateful conduct regarding the same political opposition.. the “joke” does not deliver. Flip the script.. had Ben said it.. i dont think i even need to explain the months and months of clickhating Ben to ban him.. and would likely be successful. Also, Jeremy is not virtue signaling. From my perspective as a Jew, the statement of "Orthodox Jew" seemed more to point note on how the orthodox are usually pretty conservative to the point of blindness (similar to other religious people). It is common among liberal/reform Jews to have a low opinion of the orthodox community (which I think is a problem). Just a theory, though. Also, Judaism is both an ethnicity and religion, which I've noticed is tough for non-Jews to wrap their heads around. In short, while there is a religion that one can convert to, it requires the same amount of work as if applying for citizenship in a foreign country. We are also an ethnicity (or tribe) with a religious core that connects Ashkenazi Jews to Sephardi to Beta Israel etc. The fact the Jews are mostly seen as "white" tends to be defined as Ashkenormativity, aka, that the Jews that were in Europe are the "face" of Judaism, and even that label is very recent (like in the 1960s recent). That said, while a tasteless joke and not one I would have made, it is not the worst Holocaust joke I've heard, let alone one that is "career-ruining." I'm insulted that the Quartering thinks it is and more so that he is dictating to a Jew how to joke about their own history.

People wonder why content creators leave, or everyone's content is so much the same, its because no one can joke about anything anymore without the masses chomping at the bit to cancel that person. There is a difference between making an edgy joke about an entire group of people, and calling for the death of one individual and hiding that behind the guise of "humor." Ethan is a free-speech advocate only for himself. It's not hypocrisy to hold those accountable to the same standards in which they themselves hold everyone else.

The problem is that the “line” is subjective and therefore it is constantly moved and weaponized to silence and cancel speech when it suits peoples agenda! He obviously wasn’t literally calling for Shapiro to be gassed. No reasonable person would come to that conclusion. It’s just an insensitive, ugly, & ignorant thing to say. And I believe ugly Ignorant speech is a byproduct of free speech and small price to pay in order to protect everyones rights.

jews are good at edgy humor (re: borscht belt). we've gone through a lot and humor has kept us alive. it's only when the jokes are made at our expense by both people who aren't jewish and seth rogen. note that i said _expense._ we welcome all comedy, so long as it's not malicious. i was raised religious, though. unfortunately, irreligious jews like to maliciously poke and prod at us because we're such acceptable targets. the problem with ethan's jokes lies in the fact that ethan isn't mel brooks or rodney dangerfeld. he still needs to learn how to be tactful and justifiable when delivering those dark jokes effectively.

The only reason I think people go after Ethan is because he’s super scornful off the people who make those jokes so when he does, people go after him for it. He’s a huge hypocrite so I don’t really see the issue in taking issue with him making edgy jokes. If he just made em regardless and didn’t attack others for the same shit, no one would care.

Part of what makes the joke "funny" is because Ethan is Jewish and so obviously doesn't want there to be another Holocaust. The humor is built in to the fact that he is also Jewish (because the situation is incongruous). It's also funny because there is an element of shock-- being gassed is an extreme (and therefore unexpected) fate to wish upon someone, and the Holocaust is usually off-limits to joke about, similar to 911, but if anybody can, Jewish people can. I think the humor works because of fundamentally incompatible concepts or Incongruity Theory, however, there might be a touch of Superiority theory at work as well, which would be the mean-spirited kind of humor -- laughing at someone for their perceived inferiority. I suppose it is a little of both, now that I think about it. Anyway, Ethan is problematic to me for other reasons, but not for this particular joke.

To be real papa you should make the leftovers channel the vod one and you can call it Full Course Papa Gut if you want to keep the food name. With the main channel you can put the actual videos of the segments on your main since more people will want to watch a 20 minute video then sit through a 2 hour Vod for the 20 minute segment. I just think if you keep it how it is you’ll end up having the leftovers channel be bigger than the actual Papa guy channel.

It seems your argument is "are edgy jokes not allowed anymore" "who cares dude" while you try to down play everything, and meanwhile Ethan would be running to jump on top of someone who made an edgy joke against him that he didnt agree with. Its not the joke itself that i think people are really mad about its the double standards and the fact that Ethan knew the joke was wrong and said it anyways. Also the joke wasnt that funny, i feel like that joke has been made a thousand times with different people interchanged the only funny part about the joke is the shock value imo so it was really just a poor choice, maybe not career ending but if your gonna be a left wing guy like ethan then you cant have it both ways. EXACTLY. i just wrote a comment explaining the EXACT same thing. Joke doesnt deliver when the person likely actually does wish such vile hatred on the person. It's a funny little Meme but like, that's uncomfortable."" But what Alex Stein did was also a joke when all he did was heckle AOC. So again, you can't just say some jokes are funny and some are inappropriate. You either think all edgy jokes are funny or they aren't. You have to be more consistent then that. So you can't just say "People saying gas the J@ws is edgy and funny, but someone making a joke about someone being sexy is "sexual harassment and not a funny joke". That's not how it works.
