As a renowned Japanese poet Narihira once wrote,
Cherry blossoms upset our hearts and mind.
We long for the flowers to bloom.
Then we enjoy its full bloom.
Then seeing the flowers fall, we grieve over them.
As though we are in love.
Spring without cherry blossoms
is like life without love
Now the cherry tea is in its full bloom.
Gone are the cherry blossoms,
But their fragrance remains with us.
世の中にたえて桜のなかりせば春の心はのどけからまし
『清明』
かつて在原業平が詠ったように、
桜の花は私たちの心をかき乱す。
開花を指折り数えて待ち焦がれ、
咲いてはその姿に心躍らせる
そして儚く散る姿に心を痛める。
そうそれはまるで恋のよう。
桜のない一年なんて、恋のない人生と同じ。
ちょうど桜湯も満開になったみたい。
