I'm sorry if the parents still don't accept my wife, the children's mother.. they would never meet my kids. They don't like his wife because of the color of her skin. That is unacceptable. They don't deserve this. How do you explain that to your children?! Their beautiful, sweet mother. They would not be meeting my children. They have openly expressed how racist they are. This. And also, the toxic effect that it will have on the grandkids will not be apparent right away. It’s gradual. And parents don’t even realize it until one day, suddenly, one of the daughters stop talking to her parents entirely. I haven’t watched the video yet, but did Justin’s mother ever apologize for calling one of his daughters more “beautiful” than the other? Did Justin even stand up to his mother regarding that? This “reunion” is just to ensure that the mother will not be lonely in the future. His parents are very calculating. No one can make such a drastic change right away, especially when it comes to racism and narcissism. Is she seriously going to stop antagonizing Sarah? I know the older generations don’t believe in this, but is his mother and father willing to get therapy? To do better for themselves, grandkids, son and daughter in law? (I think I know the answer to that. Lol). I’m glad Justin got what he wanted, but maybe this isn’t what his wife and kids need. They don’t need this toxicity from Justin’s mother, and they don’t need the enabling father of Justin as well. It’s not like magically his mother will stop being racist to Sarah. That’s deep rooted. I really hate to be that negative Nancy.. but imo, this reunion was a bit too rushed. I sincerely hope Justin doesn’t let his daughters stay alone with the parents. Having gone through narcissistic abuse, it really saddens me that there are so many people in the comments section basically rejoicing about this. You can tell that those people have never gone through narcissistic abuse, especially on the cultural level. I understand the urgency of wanting someone watching your kids while your wife goes in labor, but Justin, please, your parents are not it. Do not leave your precious daughters alone with your parents. Please. I highly recommend watching dr. Ramani here on KZread. *edit: and I’ve read some comments basically praising him for being a “good son” despite his mother being racist and horrible to his wife, because he chose to reconnect with his mom. News flash to the people who have never experienced narcissistic abuse: what do you think of people who don’t talk to their narcissistic, abusive parents anymore? Are they a “bad son/daughter” for keeping themselves and their children away from toxic situations?? This old generational thinking of “respecting elders no matter what” needs to be stopped. It’s what keep generations under that cycle of abuse. Sorry for my rant.

"I bundled up the girls" sounds so cozy and warm. Delighted to hear that things are progressing and all of us are very pleased and anxious for you. Each moment and reaction are precious. I thought very carefully how to phrase this, but there goes nothing. Easy to imagine/assume the uncontrollable effect/emotions your parents experienced on seeing your bright, beautiful, angelic and energetic daughters in person for the first time, i.e. face to face, not stewing in their echo-chamber and hiding behind the wall THEY built, watching and feeling the little ones' well-behaved anxiety at being around virtual strangers and their own (your parents') role in this. 🤦‍♀️🙊 It doesn't mean that your folks are fully aware of it all and it's still sinking in. To do so quickly/openly would be unnatural expectation and an instant collapse of their values THEY used as a shield and a weapon. ALL of it is HUGE! I'm absolutely sure that your parents went through a wide range of emotions then and long after the visit. I even doubt that they are aware of the full extent. I suspect at one point, even possibly that day, regret of some form crept in over time lost. Of course they won't say anything/admit to you. It's up to them how they deal with that. You've never demanded anything, just stood firm on your love/family values/what truly matters. You guys have been inspirational, magnanimous, kind, stoic and lovely in spite of the hardships. 🎉 In just this single visit your folks received a beautiful gift. Needless to say, countless people have drawn inspiration and strength from you. 🙏🏻😌&😣. I've sent others here many times.❤. Assuming that you took paper drawings with you this time. Regardless of how things move forward, I believe that these little masterpieces will be cherished (likely in secret, initially) and who knows ... ultimately make it on your parents' fridge. Congratulations on going through this HUGE event with your usual calming style. Kids respond to your (their "Daddy-Rock") behavior. Lucky children. The girls did very well just by being themselves and didn't seem to have experienced any trauma, beyond predictable anxiety.🥰🙏🏻🥴. BRAVI!

I'm happy to hear of this reunión. I admire you not giving up on your parents. Your mom seems like a very proud woman and used to having things done her way and your dad just follows along. You left your pride behind for the love of your children. I truly hope this continúes. Like you said baby steps at a time. Now I'll be biting my nails for if and when they will be ready to meet your wife😧

This is so beautiful. I don't know if they'll ever fully open themselves to your family but like you said, at least your kids had a chance to meet your parents. I can imagine it would be hard growing up, not knowing that part of where you came from. Even if no bond is made, hopefully it will help them with their sense of identity as they grow up.

this is so exciting. I'm glad you continued to leave the door open for your parents in case they ever had a change of heart. people are so quick to cut family off and isolate themselves. family is so important, nobody is perfect, every family has issues. you and sarah continue to show love to those you don't always return the same love back to you, that is a great lesson for your children. you set boundaries, but continued to lead with love. your children will thank you for that and they will learn to lead with love as they grow up as well.
