Yes, Estonia is a stunning country yet largely undiscovered. Most would not even be able to point to it on a world map! The architecture of Tallin is superb and they have not allowed monstrosities, such as Mc. Donalds towers, to be erected. In the city centre you seem to go back centuries in time. Do visit but in the Summer; the Winters are very cold and dark.

    - What aspects of Russian culture do you even presume there is in Estonian culture? Statements like that are quite insulting for Estonians. - Eesti comes through German Estland and Low German Eestland which itself is a continuation of the name Aesti. Note that while the Aesti were a Baltic tribe, Estonians are not a Baltic people, but a Finnic people.

Estonians,Swedes,Finns and Russians originate from same areas in the world, mostly Ural Mountains... Russians being slavs is Moscow propaganda... I suggest looking at some historic maps , were actual slav tribes lived.... 3 Estonian Vagarian prcines ruled over Kievan Rus ,if u didnt know Rurik was Estonian lol... I suggest looking into lost Finno ugric tribes, weird that they are not even mentioned that much.... Merya, Muroma, Meshscera Specially Muroma, there's a place in Russia Märjama , wich is Maarjamaa (Land of tthe Mary or Terra Mariana... wich is how Estonia was actually refered to at some point in history...) All their surnames are sounding more estonian and finnish... than many modern names of estonians.... The name Eesti comes from Aestii tribe , Estonians are Baltic people in the sense that we live next to Baltic see.. the word baltic origins itself is from the old germanic word meaning White as in white people , white sea... wich indicates that the rest of europe was more mixed/multicultural in the middle ages and before... than people liked to admit. modern estonians have 49% germanic dna because of 700 years of occupation.... and most estonians seem to be ignorant to the fact how many estonians have jew blood... i myself are german jew born in estonia... and only once in my 38 years on this earth has someone figured out that im jew... but i generally dont identify myself as such, i consider myself to be estonian , and more patriotic than most... i only usually bring it up when people accuse me of nazism and being far right or anti-semitic... that they know what the f they are talking about since they cant even recognize a jewish name... estonia actually has invisible caste system , people with german/jew blood in them are almost higher in the social hierarchy... from peoples names i can mostly interpolate where tthey are at in hierarchy... why i bring this is up.. is because pre world wars.. most of the jews of the world lived in these areas... Estonia,Latvia,Poland,Ukraine, West-Russia... also Germany ofcourse. The fear of history repeating itself and fear of Russia isnt the only reason Estonia has gone above and beyond helping Ukraine.. it's helping its jewish brothers (khazarians) to fight against rival jews (ashkenazi) , also american zionists... most people dont even understand what the war is about lol... sorry went a bit hyperbolic.... but russian culture and estonian/finnish culture is very much mixed... need to just learn more history... a lot of things wich u think is ur own culture... is actually influences from russian culture and vice verca... should maybe watch all 7 of Lennart Meri (first president) documentaries about finno tribes... to get it.... look at the world map where all the finno ugrice tribes were located and where they are located now... and tell me again, there's no influences... I dont get how u even compare Finnic and Baltic.. Baltic has nothing to do with language group or heterogeneity... it's just a label for the region , you know after the Baltic Sea? Balts and Baltic are 2 different things.... i guess that's why it's so confusing... but i get you... I always cringe, when they always have to mention Baltic and Skype in these types of videos....

@@Microphunktv-jb3kj Modern Estonians have Finnic DNA (they come from Virumaa and are related to Votians), and are mixed with Indo-European (especially Baltic and Slavic) tribes in the South. Finnic tribes are characterized by strong EHG (Eastern Hunter Gatherer) DNA, since Indo-European tribes by strong WHG (Western Hunter Gatherer) DNA. Germans and Scandinavians were most common in Estonian nobility/aristocracy.

0:14 alright, I'd like to stop you right there. You already got it wrong. NOTHING in the Estonian culture is related to russian. Doesn't matter how long we were occupied by them, we never mixed or united the cultures. We have preserved our nation and culture very well for centuries, and no russian has ever broken it. They tried, trust me, they really really tried. Russians are a "minority" group in Estonia nowadays, nothing more. Their culture in our country is more frowned upon and not really preserved or celebrated. I'd also like to remind you that the 40 years of Soviet occupation were illegal. The Tartu peace treaty that the USSR signed with Estonia is still active and was then too. I'd like our country to be more seen as something like Finland, so things like our War of Independence and just the great times of freedom during the 1918-1940.

Like yes the genes are probably from the East but that was before Russia exterminated the people living there. Still nothing to do with Russia and more Finno Ugric people even if we are pretty mixed with the other european genes now. Central parts of Sweden, Norway and Denmark has high % also. There are viking stories about them getting wives from Finland(Estonia was probably included to their view of finns back then). Hard to say when there is a gap due to Russia expanding their empire at the cost of our peoples. Russia has blonds too so I assume some were force converted to another culture.

@@kriskt4754 Has nothing to do with the language in Finland. I am a Finswe blond with blue eyes 34% Karelian blood(Karelian part is probably the purest line in Finland but nothing to do with language as your 91% points towards). It was never a dck competition it was a statement that its probably our people that has that high blonde % and we have mixed a lot with the other Baltic and Nordic countries. This is why the other Baltic women are also beautiful in at least my eyes. Like we were all under Swedens rule and that probably saved us from going close to extinct like many groups in Russia has. My point was the only beauty in Russia comes from our genes and the beauty in us doesn't come from Russia. Like when they compare people they do not include refugees/migrants so there is a study that says that only Finland, Estonia and Central Sweden has a light hair/eye % of 80(haven't found another source so don't know how reliable it is but it gives a clue). Same with the viking stories and that the central parts of Nordic countries have high %. The gene researchers do say that even us Finno Ugrians do share mostly the same genes as the rest of Europe because people have mixed but they can still find genes in us at higher % than the rest of the Europeans, I think Saami are the only ones that haven't mixed that much and still have a pretty pure line.
