Ойын-сауық
We were all beginners in the metal detecting hobby once, and while you spend month deciding on whats the best metal detector, you get in the field and find that you cant use it properly to find and dig out targets. Metal detecting requires good technique and and knowing how to leave the land as you found it, Good luck with your hobby, and if you have any other questions please leave them in the comments.
These tips apply to all Garrett Machines from the Ace 150 to the AT Max.

Thanks Dawn it did help me! I haven’t detected for awhile now I am having back problems. When I do start again I will check this video again. Have a great week ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💜
This is great,I have the same detector, and the few times I went out last year,I was pretty much doing everything wrong!! I’m starting over with a clean slate, and will set my machine up to the specs that you just shared. Also,I need to appreciate more the fact of just being out there, find or no find, you’re so right about that! Last year,I had a homeless guy walk up to me,he was asking all sorts of questions about detecting,we had a really nice walk and talk, actually! I heard his story,I shared some of mine,it was a very nice find in its own way,if you think about it! 😊
Your teaching skills have been useful in the making of this video! Good information for beginners Dawn! 👍

Glad you think so!
I watch your videos and two other video sites that describe themselves as real detecting videos. They show the good and the bad when they dig. It has helped me recognize the scratchy or skipping tones and what the possible hits are. (I'm about 60% accurate in my guesses, and it has increased my enjoyment of the hobby enormously.) But I still dig it all. It's the only way to be positive and I hope to improve in the future.

Thanks, yeah the bads a big part of finds, but being outside hunting and getting in the zone is so mindful :-) good luck next time you're out digging
Great tips in there Dawn. So my question is, what is the new Storm Range of detectors all about? 😁😅 See you on The Big Detecting Show on Thursday at 8:00.
Hi Dawn , Some great tips there from a expert like yourself and look forward to see your up and coming vids with great finds.
You’re my favorite metal detector person 🙌😊

Wow, thanks!
Thank you Dawn for sharing this with us.I hope you have a great week.
I think it’s great that you always include everyone and do things that help them know how to do good detecting and not to get ran off from permissions. ❤️🌹

I could say that is a good starter for Garratts, but as I use a Minelab, the only bit of relevence is the swing and the hole digging! That's not a criticism! It is something to beware of, though - different manufacturers have different set-ups, although all makes and models do the same job. The most important thing is - to have the land-owner's permission FIRST. That is the OWNER, not the tenant, but it helps to have theirs as well. (on a group dig, all that is done for you). Next is insurance, and the third is a working knowledge of the Treasure Act - or you can get into a nasty legal mess! - - When you do find a 'target' at first it will probably be rubbish of one sort or another, but do NOT bury it again, remove it, then you won't find it again and again, later!
Boy, I wish I had known this 10 years ago. I often dig huge holes. I get all my info from Facebook surely people don't lie on there I am now informed and I am retired from Detecting I feel it is all too late. You should have spoken up earlier Dawn.

Some nice tips 👍 Do you ever ground balance your detector? I found it helps when moving to different kinds of soil or wet vs dry. I don't have a Garrett, but I'm sure there's a way to do it on yours. (Unless that's what you were doing by holding the power button)

Always ground balance, even when I change fields
Thanks Dawn. I've got a AT PRO, do you have to hold the power button down for 5 seconds when changing a coil?

Yes you do, it will do a double beep like I showed on the apex

Bugger! Well my at pro has gone to heaven now & I went & got a Minelab X-Terra Pro now. Don't use it much as I'm looking for gold nuggets these days with a Minelab GPX 6000
I don't own a Garrett detector.
