    Edey is still developing. Each year at Purdue he’s gotten considerably better. He’s smart. He’s coachable. He just scored 37 against the best team in College. There is an NBA team out there that can use him.

    I've only watched the finals game, Purdue's gameplan was just to stuff the ball to Edey inside. Most of his opponents are 6-8 inches shorter than him, outweighed by at least 40 kgs. That would change in the NBA.

    All I know is there is always room on my team for a 3-pt sharpshooter and a 7'4 dominating center. Gee which one is Edey.. theres plenty of 6'6 - 6'8 guys but none of them can push a 7'4 out of the paint or drive on one let alone a dominating player of the year guy.

    What drives the analytics is efficiency. This guy has an extremely efficient game it just goes against the current trendy form of efficiency. Which means is his form of efficiency is counter to how all other NBA teams have been constructing their roster to compete. So, they won't be built to handle his game. My prediction, this guy is going to feast in the NBA, most underrated prospect for sure.

    He outplayed Clingan by a large margin, but he has all season. The only play I remember him going right in that game, he rolled under the defender and got an easy layup. One thing a lot of people don't realize is that Edey had decent 3/4 court times and was hitting mid range as well as 3s in the pro tryout. His 3/4 court times were nearly identical to KDs so he isn't as slow as he seems.

    If they would have called the 7 goal tends on Clingan & traveling on Newton every time he dribbled & called a technical & thrown Dan Hurley out of the game for being on the court & pushing a player while the game was in progress, Purdue would have won.

    @DannyNoonan74 Purdue fans are better than this. We lost fair and square. Hurley is a jackass and should stay off the court and shouldn't run his mouth to opponents' players, but that didn't cost us the game. He is a good coach but is disrespectful to the game.

    Let me spell it out for y’all. Compare Zach Edey to Trayce Jackson-Davis who went late in the 2nd round last year. Zach Edey has a standing reach of 9’ 7.5”, Trayce has 8’10”. But Trayce jumps seven inches higher than Edey both standing and max, so total Trayce gives up just 2.5 inches vertically, with both jumping. But Trayce has way faster lane agility and 3/4 court speed scores than Zach has. So Trayce is way more suited for the modern NBA, and despite this, he was the 57th pick…

    I’m a longtime UConn fan. love having Clingan and feel his game is no where suited to the modern NBA. Same issues as Edey. If it were 1976, both would be locks. But the game is vastly different. I see both guys getting some PT next year in G League and probably saying to themselves “where am I? “ Clingan needs to stay a year and work on things. Edey has no choice.

    Time to interview casuals now? “As long as he stays healthy…” yeah, name a 7’ plus 300lb player who stayed healthy? He is too slow and no range on his shot. Show me a 35% shot from three and we can talk about a longer career. Edey going to be a traffic cone on defense, not much of a plus on offense. Bol Bol with slower foot speed and not as good a shot.

  • @eddielee3928
    @eddielee39282 ай бұрын

    Like Bilas alot, but disagree completely here. Edey is slow and unathletic. He will be pick and rolled to death and will be a 100% liability on defense, and is one dimensional on offense. Zero jumpshot and played against smaller competition his whole career. He will wind up in China league like Takko Fall after he gets whichever NBA GM that drafts him fired.

    He's fundamentally sound, and is at least as good as guys like Brook Lopez, Zubac or Kevon Looney. Not a star, but a role player who needs to go to the right team. Like the Spurs or Knicks perhaps. With the Spurs, he could be Wemby's backup and bodyguard. Definitely an improvement over Zach Collins!
