Great choice for a first axe. What Ibanez R U playing now ?

I have been playing acoustic since 4 years..... The first time I held this Guitar, the feel of neck was amazing.... I held Ibanez and Cort Guitars at same price, but the neck and those pickups of LTD are fantastic.... Therefore I did not go for much considerations and bought this Beast

It has arrived and since i'm in Europe i chose Star's Music in France (no extra taxes to Sweden) and i was hoping for a company that has some pride in what they sell and here i was right. It's completely set up and everything is in order. Beautiful!

I'm glad this video helped you. The main difference betwen the MH 10 and the F 10 lie in the shape. The neck pickup in the F 10 is based on the LH-100 humbucker but will sound brighter. If you're ok with that, it's a good choice too.

That's nice, thanks ! The basis of my tone is my signal chain that you will find in the video description. I'm not using a lot of effects, just a reverb and a short delay on the lead parts. Those effects are coming from my DAW, Reaper. I'm using ReaVerbate and Stereo upmix. On the rhythm parts, just a small reverb and nothing else. Hope it helps :)

I hope this fits my hands as I have carpel tunnel potentially from too wide of feet reach and bad posture habits

Does the U shape have high shoulders that dig into your thumb when you wrap it around the top of the neck like what happens with a Jackson speed neck?

I haventy played a Jackson in a long time so I can't compare. On this satin finish, the shoulders won't stop you from wrapping your thumb around the top of the neck. Now, on glossy finishes, the shoulder are higher and might a problem.

I just bought this guitar and order seymour duncan sh6n and b.

Hey, thanks for making this review. I didn't come across many good reviews of this particular guitar, until I found your video. Thank you for highlighting all the important details and sharing your opinions on the guitar. I'm interested in purchasing this at some point because, out of most of the beginner budget guitars I could find, it is one of the few with a fixed bridge. Most of the other guitars come with a tremolo bridge, which has tuning issues. The LTD M10 and the Ibanez GRG121DX are the only good fixed bridge guitars I found. I can't find the Ibanez GRG121DX in stock, so I think I might buy the LTD MH10. Do you think it holds tune well?

You're right, and that's something I never understood : why going for a poor tremolo or, even worse, a nightmarish "under licence" floyd rose when you wanna sell something to a beginner ? If the name of the game is to discourage people, it might well work ! Now to answer your question, the tuning stability on the MH-10 was really very correct. The weather we've had when I had this guitar at home, moving from dry and cold to very wet and too hot for the season didn't help, but I didn't encounter any problem. The hardware is good quality, so if you keep this axe, you just have to buy a graph tech nut and it should be fine.

I know my comment is several months later but I have the 7 string version of this (MH-17) and I've had zero issues with tuning. The only thing I did was change the strings- everything else was solid. Holds tune perfectly. I liked the 7 string so much I just grabbed the M10 yesterday and it's the same deal! I'm blown away by these!

@Mark Katain Congrats on the new guitar! I ended up buying the MH10, and It's been great so far. Tuning has been fine too. I'm still a beginner, so I think I can make a proper judgement after more experience and probably after trying other guitars.

The Harley Benton ST-20 is not as good as this LTD MH-10 for sure. The pickup configuration is not the same, and if you wanna play big rock and metal, I'm afraid the pickups on the ST-20 won"t sound good. You also have to consider the chances for you to have some minor finishes to do by yourself : fret polishing, actions and neck set up, intonation... If you can't do it by yourself you have to pay a luthier to do the job, and still the ST-20 BK won't be as good as the LTD MH-10.

if we compare sounds of this and h-200fm, is there any significant difference or it's just a little bit output difference (except h-200fm's coil tap tones) ?

The pickups sound is the exact same. The difference will com from the wood, electronic components and so on but apart from the coil tap, there's no difference at all.

I’m thinking of buying this as a beginner. Does it hold tuning well though? And is it necessary to change the strings?

This MH-10 holds the tuning pretty well indeed. When you buy the guitar, you probably need to change the strings cos’ the guitar has probably been stored in its box for several months. I generally try the guitar with its stocks strings to check if everything works, then I change them.

I have the original ESP LTD M10, I've had it for almost 10 years and I can say it has held up over time, it holds tune well and for a beginner guitar, it does the job really well.

Definitely change the strings to whatever your preference is- the pickups are really good so no need to upgrade those, and tuners are seriously great- mine stays in tune perfectly with zero problems at all. It has become my main shredder! I never thought $150 would buy something this good! Go for this over any of the other entry/mid-level guitars. I wouldn't change anything about mine at all- I like the matte black on mine. Go for it!

I got the Jim Root copy after watching your videos (used your link🤘🏻) It's been like 9 months. It's a good guitar. Do you think the MH-10 would be a good upgrade? Or is it close?

You can consider the MH-10 is an interesting upgrade as far as the frts size goes. The Harley Benton ST-20 HH is a good guitar but its frets are short and a bit narrow. The glossy finish on the MH-10 will probably last longer than the matte paintjob of the Benton that really feels cheap. As far as the tone goes, well it really does depend upon what you like but the LTD LH-100 are very decent pickups for hi gain tones and cleans with a more organic feel. Finally the playability shouldn’t be very different, except the MH-10 has 24 frets. I would consider buying the MH-10 for the passive pickups and overall reliabity of a LTD guitar but it’s not a major upgrade compared to your ST 20 HH. Couldn't buy from Thomann this time. Importing anything above €150 our custom fees go crazy, it's almost equivalent to paying the full guitar price for a second time, ridiculous really. Now it's time to wait for delivery :)

​@@ToroKchannelThe seller didn't fulfill my order. Sold my SC450 and got a Jackson JS30 for only €15 more. And hit the jackpot, she's from Japan :) I know you haven't touched a Jackson for sometime but I think you would like it. The neck feels fantastic, would suit you well IMO.

@@miyaaaaw So you've bought this Jackson JS 30 on the used market ? Sounds like an interesting deal ! Last Jackson I have reviewed was a 7 strings but I've had the JS32 in my mind for a long while - that's my main problem : I've got tons of ideas for videos and not enough time to do everything I want to :). The neck on the Jackson JS22-7 was fine, the pickups sounded good but were very noisy. I'm gonne review the JS 32 and I'll give you my thougfhts about the neck but I think it should suit me indeed. What pickups do you have on your JS-30 ?

@@ToroKchannel I've seen your comments about not touching a Jackson for years but the JS22-7 review must've slipped my radar sorry about that :) You have great ideas. When the time comes it'll be interesting to hear your thoughts on the JS32 for sure. Yes I bought it used, online. It was a shot in the dark. Luckily I did hit :) She's 22 years old with all original hardware. Both pickups are Jackson CVR2. They sound good for stock pickups and they are not noisy. Looks like she's been neglected for years. My first FloydRose guitar. Gave her a full clean and setup. She still holds tune and plays well. The build quality is very impressive, she's built like a rock. Every component on the guitar needs some love but I'll do my best to give her a great second life. She deserves it.

out of these 3 guitars, ESP LTD MH 10, ESP LTD EC-10 and Harley Benton HWY-25BKS which one would you recommend?

I haven't played the EC-10 but I have no reason to think it would be less good than the MH-10. The Benton is interesting for the price, but everything is a step lower than on the LTD. The trem doesn't work, the pickups don't have the same full tone than the LTD LH-100, the hardware feels much cheaper... If you have enough money, better go for LTD. Now, EC-10 or MH-10, well it's just a matter of feeling :)

@@JustAreru My luthier told me that LTD tuners are made by Gotoh. Unless you wanna change for some locking tuners, I think it's not necessary. Id doesn't matter if the neck of thge guitar is reversed or not but you have to check the screw tab angle and if it matches the holes that are already drilled in the head of the guitar. In the case of the MH-10, some Gotoh SG381-07 MG-T Locking 6L C for instance would fit the holes perfectly.

I REALLY need to stop watching your channel- it's making me go broke! I have the 7 string version of this (Mh-17) and it is such a great instrument. Plays, feels, and sounds great to me. I think I need to add the MH-10 to my collection- that price is just too tempting and I wouldn't change anything about the quality that my 7 string came with- just swap the strings, give it a good setup, and that's it. I like the pickups and tuners as-is on these, and tuning is always stable for me. I wish they would make a budget 8 string guitar...I know you can get an 8 string from other companies for a reasonable price, but ESP guitars have the perfect feel to me, and the quality is there every time. Harley Benton's are fantastic as well but the shipping costs to the U.S. are a little much. Great video as always!

I'm an evil tempter, but I'm also tempted all the time with new gear :) This MH-10 is really worth considering it's a very well built guitar and I really enjoy the stock pickups a lot. Maybe I should also review the MH-17. Thanks for your comment !

Yes definitely review the 7 string and see what you think! A lot of people looking to get into trying a 7 string willl no doubt be looking at the MH-17 as a cheap entry and it's a great guitar! I was able to grab the M10 and it's just as good as my 7 string! New strings and it sounds and plays incredible. For the price, you can't go wrong.

You could potentially installa whammy bar on any guitar. But it's gonna cost you much more than the guitar itself ! First you have to pay the FR + you have to pay a luthier to do the job. If you're looking for an axe with a whammy bar, better buy one that already has one. You could find it on the used market, something like an LTD MH 330, MH 350 or MH 401 FR. You could also find some Schecter Omen FR that are very good guitars as well and remain pretty affordable on the used market.

Well you've got to know that the tone you get mainly comes from the cab / speaker and from the amp. So you might need to get a better amp. You could go for a combo and if so, it's better to have a 12" speaker. You could also go for just an amp head, plugged into a good digital audio interface (like a focusrite scarlett) with a cab simulator, that's what I'm doing. Las possibility : digital amp + digital speakers, so you just need a good audio interface. If you tell me more about how you're using your rig and what type of tone you're looking for, I can tell you more :)

@@ToroKchannel well I can't buy a interface audio because my PC died (That was my plan) so I m mainly using my amp and sound so freaking bad, even the only EQ options are bass and trebble, even with the high gain possible it's just sounds crappy so i think it's a lose case lol 😭

@@Alemust4 it sounds like a lose case indeed ! Sorry that your PC died ! So, let's come back to the combo idea. You could go for a Boss Katana 50 or 100, it's a pretty good solid state combo. I would also trust a Blackstar HT 5 combo. In both case, I advice you should buy it on the used market. The resale value of these combo is not very high and you might want to return to plan A when you get a new PC, so if you buy your combo on the used market then resale it, you will avoid wasting money :)

I have this and the strings are hitting the threats and it’s annoying when I play open strings and my e string doesn’t play open at all just sounds like a buzzy bee any help??!?

it's not easy solving this type of problem without having the guitar at the reach of my hands, so I might be wrong. But here are my thoughts : 1- is your string gauge ok with your tuning ? I mean, if you're using 010-046 and try to tune in C standard, this is not appropriate. 2- if your string gauge is ok with your tuning, maybe your string action is too low. I suggest you should try 2.5mm on low E and 2mm on high E a s a first attempt. If things are ok, you can try and go down to 2.25mm on the low E and 1.75 on the high E. 3- if points 1 and 2 are ok, you might have one or several frets that are way too high. In order to check it out, you need to flatten the neck, take a ruler and check the frets 3 by 3. I suggest you should do it under the hi E string, over the low E string, and between the G and D string. If you don't have the appropriate tool, go see a guitar tech or a luthier but don't do it with something taht's not appropriate cos it will give you a wrong result. 4- if point 1 and 2 are ok, you might have a nut that has been cut too low. It's something way more complicated to visualise, unless the nut is really way too low. Chack out the height of the strings at the first fret. There should be at least 0.6mm between the fret and the strings. If there is less space, then you have to replace the nut. If you never did that before, better see a guitar tech or a luthier, it should not be very expensive. Hope that's gonna help :)

it sometimes comes in a pack with a small amp but not always.

This guitar punches above its "weight class" I got one on impulse. Wanted an inexpensive guitar that i didn't have to worry about it getting damaged, stolen, at gigs and as a general knock around guitar, price was 149.99 it did require some setup. The action, truss rod, intonation, one of the tuning keys was loose, and the nut was cut a little shallow for a couple of the strings, strap button needed remounted correctly (toothpick and glue) A beginner might have found this somewhat stressful or overwhelming, but I've played for 35 yrs, So it was no problem just took a couple hours to get this axe sounding and playing great, shockingly great for the price.

It’s the kind of guitar that doesn’t always reveal its potential in the first place. The MH-10 I have reviewed was ok out of the box but I’m sure many people will have a bit of work on it, just like you described. I think it’s even better when you work on your axe to reveal its qualities than it’s perfect out of the box :)

Man this guitar sucked out of the box. Had 3 high frets, the tuning machines were loose and crooked and it had fret sprouts. I’m not experience with fret leveling and all, so had to take it to a luthier and spend money again. I did screw the tuning machines right and straight. But still, I started to hate the damn thing.

really sorry for you, man ! I've been lucky enough to have a good one, but at this price, the risk to get a lemon is higher than on some more expensive LTD.
