The Iron Cross is based on James' personal custom instrument design, and features set-neck construction of a mahogany body with maple cap, and a three-piece mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard and 22 extra-jumbo frets with an Iron Cross inlay at the 12th fret. The LTD Iron Cross is powered by James' own EMG JH SET active pickups, and includes a TonePros locking TOM bridge and tailpiece.

    I don´t know the real difference about LTD and ESP.... websites says LTD is cheaper, that´s okay... but like Squier to Fender. However ESP is only Custom Shop? I can´t find any ESP in any regular store.

    I guess woods, hardware and finishes are better picked and made on the ESP versions. As for the rest, yes they're pretty similar (but NOT the same).

    Most LTDs are made in Korea. ESPs are only US or Japan

  • @greekfreak1980

    @greekfreak1980

    5 ай бұрын

    Basically it's like this: ESP is the Made in Japan custom shop, that's the real ESP. Then there's a Made in USA ''pseudo''- custom shop, that is not a proper custom shop though and labels their models as ESP. The difference between these 2 is: the Japanese custom shop is a real custom shop, they will build you whatever you want, if you pay them. The US one, only offers a limited variety of models & specs, despite being labelled as a ''custom shop''. Then you also have the ''E-II'' Series, which are Made in Japan production models, formerly known as ''ESP Standard Series''. 10 years ago they re-branded this line to ''E-II'' which was an idiotic marketing move. These guitars are build in the same Japanese factory as the ESP custom shop models, but in a production line. These are all expensive af, but the Japanese models ( both custom & production series) are insanely well build guitars. LTD is their import line, similar to Squier or PRS SE or Epiphone. The LTD line, has different series. 1000, 600 or ''Deluxe'' are usually made in Korea or Indonesia and are pro-level instruments with brand name pickups, hardware, some even have ss-frets. They're usually very good instruments, but have become expensive af over the last 2-3 years. 400, 200 Series are usually made in Indonesia, Vietnam or China and are more beginner models, with stock pickups, cheaper hardware.

    It's a nice axe, but with the guitar revolution going on with companies making electric guitars for few hundred dollars that are as good or better than brand names. I cant see paying 1300. Dollars for this one.. I think it's time to stick it to the main brand's and bring them price down to standard.. besides this generation could care less about playing music. I an a e.s.p fan but if your going to put l.t.d on it keep it in the 600 to 800 dollar range..

    Hopefully manufacturers will see less and less people are getting interested in the guitar and realise it's finally time to drop the prices to get more appealable. They do need to work more effectively on the marketing side of things for that, though.
