Thank you for sharing. Does this mean that if we happen to drive into State where it’s illegal for the Jammer, all we have to do is unplug the radar detector so that the jammer stops operating?

I have two zr3 shifters sets that I bought in 2001. I quit using them when Texas made them illegal. Now that I know it’s not a very big deal to get caught with them, I am looking into buying all new equipment. My question is are the zr3’s completely worthless? Can they be modded or upgraded? Should I just throw them away and start from scratch? I was using them with a 9500i.

what brand and type tape do you use for the shifters?

Can you tell me what YOUR best recommended detector is? I live in Tucson Arizona. Willing to spend up to 800. New to this stuff

MassiveLegendOfficial I use the Escort IX, I got it a couple years ago it’s the same as the Escort IXC the newer version and it does the job. Tucson PD uses X and K band and it rarely has any false alerts. ADOT uses KA band and it pick ups their signal pretty far away allowing you to slow down.

Great video. I haven’t looked at the install manual online, but near end of your video you pointed to a wireless TX/RX unit that was under the dash? If so, then you still have to penetrate the firewall from engine to cabin???? Also, the install is not too stealthy. If I was an officer I could easily see those. What can someone do to help hide these?

huh? No you don't penetrate the firewall. The wireless unit under the dash goes into the fuse box for power and then wireless communicates to the box in the engine bay. You're right the install isn't super stealthy and an officer could see them. @@richardburguillos3118 I know this an old post, but having LIDAR jammers is not federally illegal because it is light not RF. The FCC has no control over light waves, So who cares if a cop sees them.

Let me try this again...Any gut feel on when the R3 update will be happening? Also, is improved BSM filtering something that can be achieved with a software update (like the MRCD they're beta-testing)? Thanks!

Knowing these are illegal in California, I'm thinking I'll install them anyway. What are your thoughts there?

Can you elaborate on how you installed the ZW5 Direct Wire SmartCord to the radar detector? Did you have to run the cable from the detector up the ceiling to the A pillar and down to the fuse box? My radar detector is currently mirrortapped to the rearview mirror. Would that still work with the the direct wire?

There's a power cable for the radar detector that has the wireless communication aspect in line with it. It plugs into your fuse box somewhere and then runs up to your radar detector. The wireless communication aspect happens between that power cable and the ZW5 communication box in your engine bay. If you're using your current mirror tap cable, there's no way for your RD to communicate with the ZW5.

The system doesn’t support enough power to run 4 heads and the wireless communication component. I’ll test it later, not on the immediate future. Hopefully AutoJTK will be added at some point as a software update. I’ll talk to Escort about it this week in the interview.

I still haven't. I've tested a few ZR5 installs and they've been good so I'm assuming the same is true here too. I've only got basic guns on hand myself and I'm sure it'll be fine so I've been focused on messing with other stuff. Maybe I'll get around to it eventually. It would be good... I'd love to have some assistants or something to help me with getting everything done. :D

Do you have to have the addional box to shut it off or can you just use the detector 360C

You can double press the mute button on the detector to disable the laser jammers when shot.

Flat plastic with non-metallic paint is fine for radar. Not so much laser which is light. ;)

If I have the MAX 360c do I have to use the direct wire cord since the 360c already has wireless?

You need a special cord it turns out. There’s no wireless communication built in for the jammers. Just to WiFi for firmware updates and Escort Live support.

Can u explain why it calls wireless if u still have to wire it to the car under the hood ?

Because no wire through your vehicle's firewall from the engine bay to the cabin. This makes for a much easier install.

In my area, Ohio, the laser speed cams are handheld and operated on overpasses. Over I 80 and on a bridge over SR 11, they fire onto the rear License plates and photo the plate T the same time. This is run by local police. Then the Ohio State Patrol, sit in the median with their passenger window down even in the middle of winter and in the dark, although they market lights, shooting at the front of the cars as they approach. This solution will not cover the front and back of the car.

You should modify one of the switch blanks above to house the smart cord controls. Cheap to replace later on if you need to revert to stock. All you need to do is to make 3 holes in the switch blank, peel off the sticker on the smart cord and stick it on the outside of the switch blank. Then remove the internals from the smart cord plastic box and put it behind the dash. Like this one. I did. From an audio shop. They can sell them cause the are called “shifters,” not jammers. Still illegal technically, but just be quick to slam the brake and jtk you should be fine. Also you can operate the detector without them being used, in settings.

Do you know where to get additional heads for testing purposes?

I did not make a phone call , but i visited Escort web site and found nothing. No traces of optional laser heads was found on Google as well. Do i need a secret passcode/phrase when i will making the phone call to Escort?

I'm getting annoyed with my ZW5. I had them professionally installed and they aren't shifting at all even though they are connected to the radar detector.

I thought I heard you say that the 2 additional head connectors wired to the control unit would not provide connections for 2 additional heads. Really?? It will not support 4 heads, even when it is powered directly to the battery and they provide connectors for 4 heads?? What the heck is wrong with that picture. I hope you asked them about this when you talked with them. Really??

Right I spoke with them about it. They use the same bridge box that they use with their other shifter products, but the addition of the wireless communication box in the ZW5 means that it doesn’t have enough power to reliably operate the additional heads.

Is it just me or is that radar detecting deep into the earth's core?
