ESCAPE TO PARADISE: 5 Day Backcountry Canoe Trip - TURQUOISE lake in Canada! Fish Sanctuary & Moose
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Hello! Welcome back to our channel! Taking you along on a quick five day trip to Temagami in Northern Ontario, Canada.
We put in at the Haines Creek access point and paddled down to Smoothwater Lake (a really peaceful easy paddle). We made a day trip up to the highest lake in the Temagami Region - Sunny Water Lake. It is an acid rain lake so the water is very very blue and clear, quite the contrast to most lakes in Ontario. It makes you feel like you are in the tropics! The journey to get here was about 2 KM (1.2 miles) of portaging and through a few lakes that are home to an endangered fish species - the Aurora Trout. Fishing is prohibited in these lakes.
The following day we needed to cross Smoothwater Lake .. but the water was far from smooth! We hugged the shore and made our way south to the other side and then North to find a campsite. The following morning we headed out early in hopes to spot some wildlife. Our wishes came true when Caitlin spotted a mother moose and her calf. A really special moment we are so grateful to have witnessed.
Enjoy! xo

There is something special about the Canadian wilderness. I have enjoyed the wilderness in Timmins and the Ottawa Valley.
Sure enjoy the little lady being along!
Thanks for taking me with you. I've been stuck at home for a number if years thanks to a brain tumor. I long for those small trips I use to take all the time here in Northern California. As I was getting caught up watching KZread videos on the political situation & unrest, I came across this video which gave me a seat on your canoe. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and subscribed to your channel. It's easy to take trips like these for granted, so let me be a reminder to those that found these words. We only have about 78 summers in the span of a lifetime to get out of the house and into nature. You never know when something will happen that may take away your ability to take a beautiful exertion like our friends here. How many summers do you have left? It's time to set a date and make it happen, and when you do, become aware of just how special that is and never take it for granted. If you have a situation preventing you from doing that, watching videos like this is the next best thing. It activates your own physiological cues that were recorded in your body from the time(s) you did something like it, so it truely feels like the next best to actually being there. I just rediscovered that for myself. I feel that deep peace that you feel after a great trip, and immense gratitude that these two beautiful people thought to share their wonderful adventures. I thank you! Much love!

Your words touched me deeply and I second every word you wrote, hear, hear! To be given this amazing gift, either to pick up and head into the woods (well prepared), or to have the joy of these beautiful videos to remind and inspire, brings us back to why we are here, and in the blink of an eye, show us the journey continuing. Best wishes for your health and cheers for your strong spirit!

Thank you for these inspiring words, they too touched me deeply and hit close to home as my father had a brain tumour. "gave me a seat on your canoe"... this is exactly what I was hoping viewers would experience, can't thank you enough for your feedback and motivation to keep sharing our adventures. Wishing you strength, good health, and sending you love!

Happy Two Year Anniversary! Had just watched your amazing wedding video from last year and a real joy to see you continue your celebratory journey on this canoe trip. Seems like nature needs nothing but itself to create the world, and we are honored guests while it reveals its wonders. Our massive bull moose siting was in BWCA in 2002; only 20 feet away as we paddled around a bend ... us: frozen and stunned, him: nonchalantly chewing lunch knee deep on the side of the narrow river. Antlers as big as us!! Thanks for the smiles and recollections. And the loons...eternal.

Guy's I'm so jealous 😏 the opening scenery of the wilderness was awesome 👍 You are so lucky, there is very little wildness in UK, Northern Scotland is the closest you are going to find. At night I guess there are many more wildlife calls that carry across the wilderness. Great video 👌 atb Taff

Thanks to you both for sharing your time in the back country and giving us all a little Temagami to enjoy. Glad you chose the Smoothwater area for this trip, just beautiful! Just saw a nice bull Moose on a camp trail while heading to work here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Made for a nice start to my day, as the cow and calf was nice to see on your trip. Thanks again, take care.

New sub. Live in mountains myself near Monongahela National Forest. Watched the one on your lady baking bread, will definitely try that recipe, and this one. I am a canoe person since a wee little one and at 74 still love them. I’m hooked so will follow. I like the Old Town brand but checked out what you have and very impressive. I like their construction and style. Beautiful trip and thanks!

Beautiful country there. Good news, we sold our southern Ontario home and will be heading north. Not sure where, but that area is on the list. Kirkland Lake, Elk Lake, Timmins, Matheason, Manitouwadge, Kapuskasing, etc. are all on the short list. You would be welcome if you're ever in the area. Always room by our fire for good company.

Hi Caitlin and Cody! Another delightful outdoor adventure video, thank you. Have you guys considered dutch oven cooking in the bush? Obviously lugging a cast iron dutch oven over a canoe carry (as we call a portage in the Adirondacks) is undesirable. Although placing an upside down metal pie pan on top of your fry pan will accomplish the same affect by placing hot coals on top as well and it will increase your culinary options. I personally dislike placing my pan directly on top of the coals, it promotes burning, but I do place it on a trivet slightly above the coals. Just an idea that I thought of to pass along.
@TheTimberLife
4 жыл бұрын
Bill Starr thank you! Yes we have a Dutch oven and use it over and under coals quite often at camp but we don’t bring it on our canoe trips because of its obvious weight. Haven’t thought of using that same method with our frying pan... makes sense! thank you for the recommendation!

Awesome! Thank you!
The river got rough, the canoe dumped them, and it and their gear were swept away. They got to shore but had only what they had on them for the night. Since hearing that story my cargo pants are kind of full of cargo-- enough for an ok night or a trek out (if I don't drown from the weight).
I do same thing to my steak even chicken n pork its actually quite delicious, I'll mean the lime or even lemon n oranges, gives it a hint of the flavor,
So no sasquatch encounters huh? I would think if anybody would have a chance to experience one it be you guys.

Okay... gotta ask, how do you pay attention to the scenery around you and where your paddling? 😁 Front of the boat is distracting lol. Happy Anniversary!!! Just found your channel and loving it
Watched twice. Such a beautiful area. Couple of questions: weight of your canoe and why three paddles? Looked at canoe info but have not found your particular canoe. This is really a special video. Well done.

Hey Guys! You keep forgetting your cameras at the camp site~!
Canada and Sweden are twins when it comes to topography. Every summer I go and camp in a lake called Immeln in Sweden and I can litterally see no dfferance in what I see in this video.
You look like Russian forest travellers, and the nature is the same ))
Aha! A 3rd person must be filming at 18:55 LOL - BTW, did you find those Stowaway Gourmet meals to be too salty? That's my biggest concern with freeze dried meals.

They put a gate up..past southbear it's called The park boundary..horse or foot only...but you can still go everywhere...kind of funny though.
