This a wonderful philosophy, I’m attempting a low buy this year and the issue was, I have so much that I want to just enjoy. Not just makeup, books and tea as well. Your comments about focussing on enjoying the products you have really resonate.

I also have have a tendency to purchase "backups" for the same reason you used to. For my skincare it works fine because I go through skincare on a regular basis. However I have so many blush "backups" for when I hit pan on that one blush I've been using for 2 years. I went from buying makeup freely to a low buy and now I'm on a no-buy. I recently decluttered 10 of my blushes to friends and it's been less stressful knowing that the blushes had good homes and I have less blushes now. Also what you said about having less makes you appreciate what you have more is very true.

Very well said!!! Stocking up can rob us of fully enjoying what we already have! It's so easy to fall for the stocking up trap when there is a major sale at our favorite retailers...

I don't have too many products but in order to avoid overspending, I've made a spreadsheet with the product names, types, personal rating, cost at the time of purchase, and so on. It helps me see what I have, what works and what doesn't for me. And I've found if I set limits (i.e. no more than two serums, two cleansers, two toners, three moisturizers, and three sunscreens) it helps me keep a mental tally of what I actually need on hand. I go through some of those categories faster than other based on skin needs, and keeping a smaller stock helps me assess. I use tretinoin, and summers are hot and very sunny here, so I go through sunscreen faster than many people - especially since I wear Korean and Japanese susncreens and their tubes tend to be smaller. Plus, items don't expire before I can use them - so my money is well spent. Overall, great points!

That’s funny i found your vid by accident after i just bought some body care and decided to not buy more before i finish what i have since i get stress with too much product and i like to have less stuff since i’m clean freak and i care about the expire dates, i never really liked minimalism but i prefer the comfort that it comes with it financially or mentally

I totally feel you, I went on No buy after stocking somethings I didn’t need right away, and I felt stressed like I was giving myself chore 🤭 Good luck with your No buy! 🧡

I’m still a capitalist lol meaning that I still want to buy things but I want to buy things that mean something to me and really enjoy them and use them up

i ran across your video I cannot say by accident, this was meant for me to see I'm in the same boat I had to stop buying because being it's the newset thing etc. I put the brake on buying on impluse and focused on do I really need it, what would it change (nothing except one more item on my shelf) now will I use it or will it get dusty and wait on the next item to come out? I'll use what I have clear off a shelf, have more cleaner enviroment space and feel good about my choices? Give myself a hi-five

Oh dear! Thank you 😜 I think I layered Revlon lip butter which is peachy nude with bite lipstick in chai which is a kidney bean shade.. Both are discontinued, but I think a red bean shade will be very close. you could try layering a nude with deep red too! 🧡

The reasons of your no buy are 100% same as mine. Only I cannot stop. But maybe it is because I have one more problem. I live in a country where the most hyped skincare brands are not sold. So anytime a family member come to visit from Europe, I place orders and buy too much cause I get scared and think it's the only opportunity. I would really appreciate if you do follow ups videos on your no buy and give tips on how you managed to succeed. I cannot enjoy anything I use cause it's been sitting there for a year ... or 2 ! I've lost interest... and it's not what I want to use use right now but have to because of the expiration date. I am so stressed when I look at all the products I stocked up, don't know how I'm going to manage to use them all. But worse, I cannot stop purchasing more product in the hope that it might help with my hyperpigmentation. Sorry for the long comment.

Thank you for sharing, Im “happy” that im not the only one… Is seeing a demonology a option at where you live? Because lots of those hyped up skincare products are overrated. Especially when you are counting on them for some particular issue. 🧡 sending you this with love

I watch this and I realised I don't have to do anything, i just have 1 soap, 2 makeup remover, 1 face cream, 1 sunscreen, 1 serum and 4 lipsticks 😅 i thougt I had so much stuff.
