Ylva, Clint Eastwood has starred in over 60 films over the last 65 years, it might be interesting to watch his most popular from each decade starting at 1970 until 2020, you will see him improve and age, should be a very interesting project?

@@YlvatheViqueen it's estimated he has at least 8 children from 6 different woman, and had a relationship with someone on almost all his movies. So his charm and charisma carried thru the screen.

@@YlvatheViqueen He is also quite the prolific director, with more than thirty films to his name. Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River, Bridges of Madison County. Pale Rider, Absolute Power, and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (also a book) are some of my faves with him directing. That last one would be good on your channel, it also stars his daughter.

I'd go back to 1964, even. "A Fistful of Dollars" is a film that began a subgenre.

Great movie. My mom allowed me to stay up late with her one night when this came on TV (it was one of her favorite movies). That was probably 1979 or so. In the early 80s we went to Alcatraz on our summer vacation while we were in San Francisco. I always hoped we would get a definitive, provable answer to whether the 3 survived or not, but 45+ years later, we may never know.

My grandfather was in this movie. He was in a lot of movies, but we don't make any fuss, he was a gentle person, a poet and a painter and I always admired him. Edit: he actually painted the pictures in this movie.

Cool SG. I saw the Eastwood version years ago and even went to Alcatraz to check the whole place out. When I got actual head that was used laying in the bed....wow.

When playing the Epiphone SG be sure to feed the amp cable through the strap end so that the cable is supported as the (old?) SG input has a tendency to come unscrewed if the cable is not secured. Maybe Epiphone fixed it, I'm not taking chances.

Visited Alcatraz in 2019. It's really surprising how small it is in real life compared to films like this one and Michael Bay's film "The Rock." They even have Frank's cell made to show how he got out and even the fake head he created. The warden is played by the same actor who played Edward The Longshanks in Braveheart.

Yes, the prison is surprisingly small. Only held about 260 inmates at any given time.

Fantastic reaction, as always! The Shawshank Redemption stole a lot of scenes and ideas from this movie. I would in no way suggest this movie is better; it would just be nice to see it get recognition for the details that either King, Darabont or both deliberately used. Thanks for the reaction! I always look forward to watching you.

Shawshank also owes a lot to The Count of Monte Cristo, namely the digging the tunnel and getting revenge after escaping prison.

  • @firegod001

@@phillipribbink6903True, but digging a tunnel to escape a prison is very general and common. Alcatraz, however, is obviously stolen from, in my opinion. The digging tool being kept in the Bible, a slap in the face to the obnoxiously religious and hypocritical warden; the guy who feeds a small animal at the table; the guy who sexually propositions the main character in the showers to set up further encounters; and other details as well. This is clearly a lot more direct, specific and numerous.

New subscriber here. You could literally take every Eastwood title's name on a dartboard, throw the dart, and get a good film. There's a handful of films he did that were meh, but the majority of his work is gold. It's really hard to go wrong with any of his films. I'll enjoy looking through your older reactions and seeing what you got coming. And I have to say, you have such a flawless face and nice, easygoing personality. You seem very genuine and that's a very good trait to have. Wishing you all the best. Take care.

Thank you. If you are interested in another prison / prison escape move take a look at "Papillon" (1973). It too has an excellent cast, is based, loosely on historical events, and depicts one of the worst prisons in recent history. The movie was remade in 2017, I haven't seen the remake but reviews say it is a decent movie that suffers in comparison to the original.
